*Dramatic* reduction in bounce rate, why?
-
Hi all
I cannot pin this down to one of
-new theme using Thesis 2 and Social Triggers, or
-implementing Moz
Does the Moz crawler linger on page?
I'd love to know why this is happening
-
Oh, and if you look at the source code for your site, do so from an incognito browser -- most WP setups will suppress one of the GA instances from firing if you're logged in as an admin.
Voice of experience again here, as I had to have someone else initially point this out to me on this very forum a couple of years ago.

Yes, you need to check other metrics too. But magazine themes usually get less bounce rate then blog style themes, what doesn't really means that this is better then that.
From what you said, it's probably the duplicate script issue that Keri pointed. If you want to recheck if your theme is adding it, add the GA ID again in the specific field, open the front page in the browser and check the source code (ctrl+u in firefox an chrome). Then search for the GA ID with ctrl+f and check if you find 2 IDs.

Ricardo, wouldn't this be reflected in time on site? I've checked that, and it's pretty much the same.
And, the front page used to be a magazine kinda theme - so, ebooks in a slider, some stuff in another section, latest articles, then reviews, etc etc.
This front page is now latest blog articles...
(And I would say readability is better).
Keri, Thesis lets you add your GA ID into a special field (and presumably just populates the appropriate GA into the header). I also added it into the footer because Thesis wasn't using the Universal Analytics, in particular, the demographic data acquisition code.
I've removed it from the footer, so let's see if that is what it is!
Good catch!

What probably happened is that your old theme displayed all the content that the user wanted to see in the landing page, and the new one requires the user to go a little deeper to see it.
A good way to check it is to verify the traffic flow before and after the new theme. Sometimes the decrease in the bounce rate isn't a good thing because it means that the visitor needs to crawl deeper to get to the content he is looking for.

This wouldn't be the Moz crawler, as we don't trigger javascript.
What often happens (and I've done this myself) is that Google Analytics will be in the header or footer, and ALSO added as a Wordpress plugin. This drops the bounce rate to nearly zero.

Increase in Direct Traffic plus Bounce Rate rise for all traffic sources
Hello, I work for an agency and we have seen a big rise in bounce rate for 4 of our clients which happened on the exact same day. This rise on bounce rate is across all traffic sources. We are also seeing a big increase in direct traffic, starting on the same day. Is it possible for bot traffic to affect the bounce rate of all other traffic sources? We have ruled out double reporting in GA but can explain how the bounce rate has increased for all traffic sources. How is this linked to the rise in direct traffic (in some cases as high as 500%)? Thanks

High bounce rates consistent with a login that takes you to a 3rd party site?
My firm has a credit union client whose bounce rates skyrocketed after implementing an online banking portal. Logging in to the online banking portal takes you to a 3rd party site. Would arriving at the site and immediately logging in be considered a bounce? And if so, would a high bounce rate actually correlate with a warm reception to their online banking tool?

How to measure Bounce Rate via Timeout
Hi, I want to change the way Google Analytics measures my bounce rate: after 20 seconds timeout instead of next page criteria. I know that I may do it adding some content like: setTimeout(“_gaq.push([‘_trackEvent’, ‘NoBounce’, ’20 seconds’])”,20000); But I wonder if there is some way to do it via Google Analytics configuration. Thanks in advance,

I am curious why my Alexa rating has been getting worse over the last few weeks. My organic traffic is up, direct visits and social networking visits are up but my Alexa has been getting worse and worse. Is anyone having the same problem? Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks.

Conversion Rate Higher Than Landing Page Visits?
Interesting to see in Google Analytics that the conversion rate is higher than landing page visits - could it be attributed to a visitor clicking the CTA button multiple times? Or perhaps there is duplicate GA code on the conversion page since we utilize both Google Analytics and HubSpot. (see attached funnel screenshot) Screen-Shot-2014-09-26-at-10.49.09-AM.png

Does an internal link inside an iframe result in a bounce?
We built a landing page with a wufoo form. Inside the wufoo form is a link going to another page on our website. We are wondering if clicking on that link will result in a bounce since it is in an iframe. We are using google analytics.
