Major Dip in Keyword Rank - Why?
-
Last week my ranking for "keyword A" was relatively high at 16. Since then it's dropped a staggering 31 spots. It's certainly the most important keyword we can rank for so seeing it go -31 spots is rather frightening.
I have a couple of theories:
- We haven't included it in our blog content as anchor text but once in the past 2 or so weeks since the last crawl was done by moz on oct. 21. The lack of recent links with the anchor text of "keyword A" pointing back to the blog is causing it to lose it's rapport.
- I've been adding most of our blog posts to Reddit and we've been getting almost double the traffic from Reddit alone. But with that comes a much higher bounce rate (~80%). Could posting and having visitors bounce from our blog posts cause the ranking to go down?
I would love to get your thoughts on this issue.
Thanks,
-
Also, I'm realizing that the 5% number is rather vague. To put it into perspective, it's just under our average conversion rate for that timeframe.
-
Yes, we've had some decent conversion rates from Reddit. It's been around 5% over the past couple of weeks.

Why are you posting on Reddit? Do any of the Redditors convert?

Why did I lose my rankings for a keyword "CRM" even after getting quality backlinks?
Initially my website is ranking on third page of Google.com for the keyword "CRM". So to improve rankings I got good number of quality backlinks by guest posting in various websites. But now my website is ranking on 6th page, which is a big concern for me. But for Google.in there was neither any improvement nor any fall in the ranking. I have following doubts in my mind 1. Does the sudden increase in backlinks (quality backlinks in the from of guest posts) effect rankings in a negative way? 2. Why did it effect on Google.com and not on Google.in? 3. What needs to be done on urgent basis to recover from this? Kindly help me with all your suggestions. Thanks

Why did my rank drop?
I was thrilled that my new blog catapulted up to spot # 5 on google last week for a great keyword. I worked hard on creating internal links to my category page as well as improving my content and getting a couple good external follow backlinks. But today, the report says I dropped off the top 50 list. How can I find some insight as to why this happened??

Drop in rankings after gaining new link
Hi everyone I have seen an odd trend in my rankings over the past 6 months that I would like to hear your experiences about. Everytime a get a new link I see an imediate minor drop in rankings only to bounce back to a higher level tah before. Has anyone seen a similar trend in their rankings and what might be causing it? I have made no changes to the site during the link building process.

Page Rank Sculpting
Just a thought. With the way pagerank works and passing link juice evenly across all your links. Would it make sense to structure your site so that each page passes your all your link juice from lets say your homepage to another page. Then that page would contain all the link juice from the homepage. Then do the same thing with the next pages. For instance Homepage - linkjuice 10 link1 - follow link2 rel=nofollow link3 rel=nofollow link4 rel=nofollow link5 rel=nofollow Link1 - linkjuice 10 link1 rel=nofollow link2 - follow link3 rel=nofollow link4 rel=nofollow link5 rel=nofollow Link2 - linkjuice 10 link1 rel=nofollow link2 rel-nofollow link3 - follow link4 rel=nofollow link5 rel=nofollow Link3 - linkjuice 10 link1 rel=nofollow link2 rel-nofollow link3 rel=nofollow link4 - follow link5 rel=nofollow Link4 - linkjuice 10 link1 rel=nofollow link2 rel-nofollow link3 rel=nofollow link4 rel=nofollow link5 - follow and so on. Theoretically would'nt this help pass a ton if not all of link juice to your main links? Sorry if this is a dumb question, it's late and sometimes my mind goes places 🙂

Classified Sites Ranking on Page 1
How is it that Craigslist, and Backpage get a boost from google and take over 1 or more of the page one results in my niche? Ive also seen people ask a yahoo question, and answer with a link to their website? Are these just temporary boosts?

Got a warning from Google but rankings still ok.. what to expect?
Yesterday I got THE warning from Google: "Dear site owner or webmaster of http://..., We've detected that some of your site's pages may be using techniques that are outside Google's Webmaster Guidelines. " It seems all my rankings are intact though. Some keywords got higher rankings, other dropped a little bit (-1, -2) but nothing unusual. My question is, since I got this warning, should I expect some sort of penalty soon? I see other webmasters who got their websites de-indexed after getting this warning so I'm quite concerned.
