Confused about the link metrics showing up in MOZ & OSE
-
For my campaign "itelligence Applications" which is for site itelligencegroup.com/uk/ - MOZ seems to be giving me different stats on links, depending on which tab I look it in the Link Analysis section. Then when I look at OSE, the numbers are totally different again, not just a little bit different.
Example: In MOZ Link Analysis, on the "inbound links" tab, it says there are 129 Root Domains and 6832 Total External Inbound Links.
If I then look at the Competitive Metrics screen, it says there are 46,284 external followed links and 240 total linking root domains.
If I then go to OSE for the same site, it says there are 14 Root Domains and 686 total links.
I have no idea why these numbers vary so much or how to even report them to my client.
Am I missing something here? Any help would be gratefully received!

Thanks very much for getting back to me, Jordan. Yes it does clarify and I hadn't realised I could toggle between domain & subdomain like that. It makes sense now!

Hi Maureen,
Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the confusion! This is a tricky one! All of this information is pulled from the same source; it's just being reported in slightly different ways. This campaign is set up to track the subfolder itelligencegroup.com/uk/, which is totally fine, but is also the source of the confusion :).
In Competitive Metrics, you have the option to toggle between domain and subdomain (http://screencast.com/t/aguINJ3OlFCA). If you switch to subdomain then you'll see that your results realign with the numbers in your Link Analysis section.
Then for OSE, you can see 14 root domains linking to the subfolder itelligencegroup.com/uk/, but if you add that to the 115 linking root domains for intelligencegroup.com you get the full 129! It's just displayed in this way because of the geo-locating redirect associated with the root domain for this site which makes for some funky link reporting.
I hope this helps to clarify the data a little bit! Feel free to let me know if you have any further questions! Thanks, and have a wonderful day!
Cheers,

My company has about 70 live pages. Moz crawled 6k. Why?
My company has about 70 live, published pages on our website, which is managed through HubSpot. When Moz crawled the URL, it found 6K+. I noticed several were URLs with a campaign tag. Is this normal? It seems excessive to me. If there's a problem, how do I fix it?

Will Moz move DA from an old domain to the new?
Hi folks, I'm moving a digital magazine of mine, which has a great deal of authority (DA53!) to a new domain, which is much more brandable. I'm curious if Moz ever passes the actual DA/PA numbers to the new domain. Does the tool pick this up, eventually? I know once the domain is switched, DA will show a "1" -- as the domain is brand new, technically. This is NOT a question about authority/link juice being passed, but rather the numbers being displayed by Open Site Explorer. Some authors do look at Moz DA as an indicator of a sites "power" before applying for authorship, so I'm trying to find a way to move to a more brandable domain, while keeping the OSE stats in place. If it's not possible, I'll have to live with it 🙂 Any input? Thanks everyone!

How do I fix 885 Duplicate Page Content Errors appearing in my Moz Report due to categories?
Hi There, I want to set up my Moz report to send directly to a client however there are currently 885 duplicate page content errors displaying on the report. These are mostly caused by an item listed in multiple 'categories' and each category is a new pages/URL. I guess my questions are: 1. Does Google see these as duplicate page content? Or does it understand the categories are there for navigation purposes. 2. How do I clear these off my Moz report so that the client doesn't panic that there are some major issues on the site Thanks for your advice.

Why is Moz not crawling my backlinks
Hi my website www.dealwithautism.com is 3 months old and has been on DA 1 and PA1 ever since, even though the site is actively developed with quality content (a couple of posts already have 1k+ fb likes acquired editorially, while that doesnt necessarily improve SERP, it sure tells you that the post is engaging). In contrast another site of mine, www.deckmymac.com which is hardly ever managed, not have more than 15 posts and just 1 backlink, has DA 14. Running an on page analysis on www.dealwithautism.com I observed that Moz has not identified any backlinks nor social signals (except G+). However, according to Webmasters, I have 57 links, 51 of them to the root. Even Majestic is able to report 32+ backlinks. So what am I missing? Certainly, at this stage my website doesn't deserve DA 1, or does it?

Open Site Explorer Doesn't Discover Link for my website
Hi, I've been trying to use Open Site Explorer to track link to my own website but it always comes up with no data and shows me this message: It looks like we haven't discovered link data for this site or URL. However, this site has been up and running for more than 9 months and google webmaster can track all the links to my website. I've also followed MOZ's support instruction to tweet a bit.ly links with my website but still no luck at all. My website is www.carpetcleanerperthwa.com.au Has anyone seen the same problem before? Any help would be much appreaciated. Thanks Will
