How do I distribute blog content?
-
Morning Mozzers!
I work for an online wedding retailer and we add new, unique, high quality content to our blogs on a daily basis. After adding the new content we Tweet it and mention it on our Facebbok page. My question is this: how can I distribute the content to generate back links? Any example sites or case studies of things you guys have done in the past would be great!
Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot guys. Plenty of advice there for me to be looking at and cracking on with.

If you have a following of very interested people on twitter and facebook, you are distributing your content. If you content is great they might pass it on. However, if it is best-on-the-web the chance is much higher. Some sites have high enough content that FB and TW announcements are enough to generate links and propel their rankings with zero time spent on link hunting.
Perhaps instead of doing a daily post, work on your content for an entire week and publish something phenomenal. Look at the SEOMoz blog posts how they have many images, data, references, quotations and much more. They are not trivial content. They are kickass documents.

http://www.seomoz.org/blog/competitor-analysis-for-linkbuilding-a-guide-for-people-who-hate-linkbuilding My post on finding places to link based on your competitors backlinks (+learning the niche as you go). Asy ou go through, note the places that offer blogging or blogs
I have had a bit of success using myblogguest.com/ You do have to wade through some crap from article churners but there are a few nuggets in there. I am going to try the paid subscription for a few months and see how it does
http://www.seomoz.org/labs/link-finder/index.php stick your details in here and see what you get out
http://www.seomoz.org/link-finder/ stick in wedding dresses and get the contact details of those blogs and organise some cross promotion
Otherwise contact, contacts, contacts. Ask these guys if you can guest post www.secretsalons.comand get them to guest post back - they use their twitter etc to promote you
"online wedding retailer and we add new, unique, high quality content to our blogs on a daily basis" <-- Son, I am skeptic
If you are writiing content and then looking for places to seed it, then I think you're doing it the wrong way round. If your daily output isn't getting traction, do fewer posts but make them better
http://www.confetti.co.uk/ <-- this is you I guess? id stick those fb/tw buttons right at the top with a CTA & make the phone number much bigger

I have managed to land a few expert pieces on external sites for my company and would like to document that on our blog in the form of mini-blurbs which lead through to the article... but if I link back to it, is that bad practice?
Of course link sharing can be punishable if it is done to share juice, and I understand that on the surface it could look like link sharing, but in reality it would just be nice to document the different successes we've had. Thoughts?

Is it okay to post my blog posts to both an internal blog on our domain and an external blog?
We have a blog internally at kay-grant.com/blog and also created an external blog at ActiveRain.com Is it okay to post the same blog posts to both sites or should I have different content for each blog?

Anchor text in blog boilerplate
At the end of our company blog posts, we have a short paragraph about our main service using anchor text linking to the homepage. I read somewhere (but can't for the life of me find it again) that this method can lead to Google ranking these blog posts lower than if they weren't there. Is there any correlation between internal linking using boilerplate anchor text and lower ranking for those internal pages? I understand that this isn't a top priority as Google is placing less value on anchor text, but don't want to do anything that could potentially hurt, either. Thanks.

SeoMoz duplicate content
Hi all, There's a lot of controversy around duplicated content. If you google "The New SEO Process (Quit Being Kanye)" you'll get tones of results with a copied content from the original article. How does google manages this? (duplicated or not) Is this good for the original content/website? Thank you Cornel

Manual Blog Submission Services - Any Recommendations ?
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a high quality blog directory submission service ? I know that the best method is to do this yourself - but the time required to do so is enourmous, so although I may manually submit to a few of the very best directories myself, I'm looking for a good quality manual service to do the rest. I'm willing to pay a decent amount to a quality submission service as I want it done as near as possible to doing it myself. Thanks for your thoughts.

Best to create a new blog as a subsection or as a new site?
Our company has a blog "feature" or "theme" that we'd like to publish every week at least. Should we create a subsection of our current company blog? Or should we register a new domain specifically for the feature? The latter would allow us to do some linking back to the main website, and would probably be good in terms of future career flexibility / personal branding for whoever writes it. Things to keep in mind? Anyone have any suggestions? Best practices? What should I do?
