What are some effective ways to take up SERP real estate?
-
Hey Guys,
I was wondering if you've seen or practiced some effective ways to take up real estate in the SERPS. Ideally I'd like to see more results from my own domain although I realize that G seems to only display 3 for any single domain. I'm looking for creative ways to take up more real estate other than subdomains.
I recently saw a municipal website with 4 results (1 being a PDF) which suprised me.
I have a couple in my head but what's worked best for you?

2 sides to this, 1. Protecting brand and 2. Just want more results for a keyword.
With regards protecting brand, using other sites worked best for me.
Putting YouTube content on mydomain.tv, putting company info on a .info, creating my own affiliate sites with brand name in the URL. A few of these and you can control the first page for your brand quite easily.
Also with language Googles assigning a folder to a language in WMT and building links from those language sites into it seems to give me an easy 1-2 with /county/ first and plain dot com second.
For getting more results in on a specific keyword, yes pdfs or other media types (either youtube videos or host my own and make a video sitemap). If you can get into Google News (depends what kind of site you have) that's good. Plus getting a few Twitter accounts to tweet about the keyword can get you to show up.
Both ideas kind of overlap but I find the domains provides more stable control where as the other media varies wildy by search.

I think your talking about indented listings.

Does Autoplay video effect SEO?
I'm trying to find out if autoplay videos (muted) on the homepage effect seo in anyway? Currently our site ranks around position four on the first page, but we have noticed one competitor we monitor have long auto playing videos on their sites and were wondering if they are a good or bad factor? Any info you would like to share would be great. Thanks

How to see SERPs the way that moz sees SERPs
I'm getting to grips with the New Keyword Explorer. I've found that one of my top keyword phrases has a 'Featured Snippet' result. However I'm struggling to see it in my own browser. Is there a clean way of viewing SERPs un enhanced by history, location etc? I'd also like to see the other SERPs features - is that possible? I'd like to be able to see the results as Moz clearly can view them! Thank you Mozers C09Fb

Do random listings effect Google Local Rankings?
So my clients business name is "Photojennette Photography" and while researching citations to correct I have found a completely random issue. There's an actress named Jennette McCardy that apparently has a ton of photos on the internet and with that are page titles like "Brand New Photo : Jennette McCardy" and "Look at this Photo Jennette McCardy" My question is, would Google be sending my listing down because of this? It's completely random and has nothing to do with the business. Thanks in advance.

Rel Author Photo when does it show in SERPS
Hi,
Image & Video Optimization | | Ant71
Ive been using Rel author recently to get my Google+ photo showing up on Google serps. Can someone enlighten me to when people would and wouldnt see it. It appears on peoples results who live near me, however when someone 60 miles away does the same search he does not see the photo just the serps result. It is not a Google+ places entry, just your normal organic result. Any thoughts welcome 🙂0 -
CTR of Video Rich Snippet vs. Normal SERP
Hi there, We were ranking no. 1 for one of our key terms for a long time, however a competitor of ours by the looks of it purchased a load of private blog network links and managed to shift above us. The page we rank for on that term has a video with the markup to trigger a video box rich snippet (which i've noticed never seems to be given on position 1 but can be for 2 and below) - so that is now what our entry in the SERPs is. Since then we have actually dropped down to 3rd, with the web page now being in 2nd not having any new links / content in a very long time. Therefore I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about whether the video box could actually reduce CTR which could have resulted in us dropping down to 3rd ? The meta description text seems to be reduced to 100 characters with the vid box, so we're not getting our full message across where the others in the results are. My natural assumption would be that the video box would gain a higher CTR, but i'm thinking this may not be the case for us. Does anyone know of any data relating to the video box in the SERPS ? Many thanks, Stuart MtsbA.jpg

Is it possible to have an ogranic and places listing on the same SERP?
Have a bit of a quandary; I am working with a site that ranks fourth for their main term via a Google Places listing. However, I can't seem to find a traditional organic listing to save my life. The only way I can do it is to search from a mobile device, or expand the search results to 100 listings. When I do that, the site appears in the top 10 organic listings. That got me to wondering, is it possible this client's traditional organic listing is being cannabalized by their listing in Google Places?

Google Maps/Places in Organic SERP
This question is regarding having a Google Places snippet consisting of your business location and opening hours appearing in Google SERP when the business name is searched for. One of our competitors who has a location within their name e.g. 'Widgets of Oxford' have a Google Places snippet appear on the RHS of the search results (where Google Ads usually go) when searched for. We are trying to replicate this for our business but cannot seem to find any information relating to doing this apart from that this only appears for them as they have a location in their name. This is because we see a similar snippet when we search for our business name in the format "OurBusinessName in OurLocation). Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
