LinkedIn and SEO -- Is there a relationship?
-
I've analyzed the link profiles for 12 sites recently.
I noticed that none included a link from LinkedIn, though each company had links on LinkedIn (I suspect this is because LinkedIn redirects outbound links).
Are links on LinkedIn really good for SEO? (IE DO THEY PASS LINK JUICE !!!!!!!????)

Ya, I operate under that assumption about 301's, too.
I also can see most every 301 that points to one of my sites on my SEO link tracking tools. However, I can not see links from LinkedIn on any of these. Check OpenSiteExplorer for your site, and see if it lists LinkedIn, and you'll see what I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure that the LinkedIn links are not treated like a 301.
I am coming to believe that links on LinkedIn pass no link juice. Would you agree? How could we track/observe if my belief is correct or not?

"The profile link is a dofollowed link, but it appears to be routed through a redirect on LinkedIn servers -- which seems to retain all the link juice from that link (passing none to the final destination url). In other words, the link doesn't count for SEO (right?)."
From my understanding, if it's a 301 redirect than 90% of it's linkjuice would be passed. However I'm not sure how LinkedIn performs their redirects.

Totally agree with your analysis, otherwise. LinkedIn is great for reputation management, some SERP domination, and actually networking with real people (which may later turn into juicy links outside of LinkedIn's walls). Thanks, man!

Well a link from the linkedin Profile is a Followed Link (for now). However I'm not sure if the followed links from social media profile pages pass much value in the eyes of Google.
You can definitely leverage LinkedIn for better SEO results and reputation management. It's a B2B networking platform so if your clients are in the consulting industry you could create some kind of workflow where they are active on the LinkedIn Q&A section, LinkedIn Groups and participate in discussions on LinkedIn. If you provide enough value and are participating on all the appropriate channels on LinkedIn, you can easily establish some kind of relationship with bloggers or other website owners and leverage them for links either through guest posting on their website, or performing an interview article on your website and asking them to link to you, etc.
LinkedIn is a platform where you can establish and build relationships, which can turn into links.
Hope this helps

Using OSE, I analyzed the link profile for the domain I suspect you're referencing and did not observe any dofollow or nofollow links from LinkedIn pointing to that domain being counted.
Perhaps I'm looking at this wrong. Is there any proof you can provide that your domain receives juice from the links you mentioned?

We actually have a followed link and several no-follows from Linkedin?

Does Social Media hold value with SEO? If so then how?
Hey So I've been doing some research and it looks like theres a "human authority" and a "Page authority". I dont know if it is still relevant or if it has all changed because of Panda. Does social media still hold any SEO value? Do social media platforms like Pinterest and Youtube and twitter drive any valuable Anchor texts to your domain boostin your domain's authority or the page that it is linking to's authority?

What could Google+ do for your SEO?
If your a Google+ wizard and do everything right, so optimise your profile, pick up 1000's of followers, followers engage with your posts by adding a comment or a plus, followers are even going to your website and sharing content using the Google plus button etc. What kind of effect would this have on your SEO? Would this kind of activity improve your Auth? Side question: Forget the above, what movement would you expect if one of your pages received 1000 plus's from real users, would you expect to see a jump in SERP's I know every website is different, im just looking to see what I could expect if the work was put in to achieve the above.

Facebook 'SEO', Likes and Fans
I spent a bit of time this morning combing Google looking for some documentation on SEO for Facebook, specifically the value of 'likes', when liking one's status, how that effects the visibility of a given post and basically the criteria for creating whatever they deem a post to have gone 'viral'. I'm convinced there has to be some answers for my first two questions... ....somewhere. Likewise, I can appreciate if there's nothing available to answer my third question pertaining to 'viral criteria'. Nevertheless, if anyone has any resources/documentation that could provide me some insight into how FB interprets 'likes', how an increased number of 'likes' may lead to greater visibility and (more or less) the mechanics of how this interacts with the entire Facebook structure, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for reading, I look forward to the responses!

Google+1 on site or on google+ for SEO?
Hi Have just read an inspiring post by Cyrus @ www.seomoz.org/blog/tips-to-use-google-for-seo But before I ask my existing social media contacts and email lists who have a Google account to +1 my site, what offers most benefit from a search visibility perspective? Should I ask my contacts to +1 my homepage (there is a +1 button on there) or Click on the +1 button on my businesses Google+ page and also ask them to join my circles? Hope this makes sense? Many Thanks

Are links from Pinterest 'do follow'/do they have any SEO benefit?
Afternoon all, I know there is a question about Pinterest that was asked in February but I guess it was a fairly new beast then and people were still unsure about its use for marketing/SEO etc. I run an events business and on our Pinterest profile I tend to pin random stuff I find on the net, themes we are running (directly from our website) and other Pinterest users. I have received several 're-pins' and people are really starting to follow us now. What I am keen to know is whether or not having lots of followers/re-pins on Pinterest has the same effectiveness from an SEO perspective as having lots of Facebook/Twitter/Google+ followers and whether or not these re-pins are 'do follow' links or have any SEO benefit whatsoever? Many thanks Rob ps: Pinterest page is http://pinterest.com/eventa/ , if anyone has any tips on how to better utilize this then that would also be greatly appreciated 🙂

Ashton Kutcher talks about SEO?
Search for SEO in Twitter and top result says: "aplusk: I'm starting to become convinced that people put my name in articles just to improve their SEO or hoping I'll tweet it." When you click on the result it brings nothing! Another weird thing, when I search for the sentence and view cached Google result it immediately redirects (which is unusual and annoying). I managed to find a text only version of cache here. Can somebody please explain what's going on here?
