E-commerce can we delete all products that have never sold for 10 years?

Hello,

We're switching from a mediocre cart to Volusion.com, which I love.

We've been in business for 10 years and have 8500 products. At least 75% of the products have never sold once. How do we know how many of those we can delete when switching carts? We only want to switch over the products we have to.

I would absolutely delete them. Take note of the products that have any external links or organic traffic and consider redirecting them.

Many of my pages are showing up as 4xx errors because they require a login/subscription to view. How can I fix this?

Does CTR Affect Ranking & Authority? Can PPC Influence That Too?

Hi everyone, Good CTR and bounce rate seem to affect rankings positively, but what about domain authority? Is that something built entirely on links and semantics, or does CTR play a factor too? Consider a homepage ranking for its brand name. Switching off any brand PPC will increase the natural listing's CTR. Would that have a positive SEO impact on the homepage/domain?

Should I add PDF manuals to my product pages?

Hello. A lot of the products I sell on my e-commerce site are very technical. I decided to add PDF data sheets, manuals etc on each of the product pages to improve the customer experience. Now I am not sure if it was the best thing to do. I have noticed a couple of times that the PDF is out ranking the product page in the SERP. For a few products, the PDF ranks but the product page doesn't. Anyone got any ideas?

Product category content!? what should it include?

Hello everyone!, I consider myself a rookie... so... please, excuse me if this is super basic or dumb!. I'm working on a ecommerce web (family business!)... and i've got this doubt. Say you've got architected your site this way...: site.com/category
site.com/category/model_1
site.com/category/model_2 I'm mainly interested in getting the category webpages to rank high. The problem i've got is... what to put in the CATEGORY webpage!. Suppose you sale office furniture... and the category is 'chairs'... if you add content there, it won't be useful. What do you suggest me to add there?. ====== NOTE: My 'categories' webpage is split vertically, so you've got an image gallery on the left, and the product description on the right. So all of my product pages look a bit alike... and the 'category' itself has a placeholder on the right. I suspect that's why i'm not getting good rankings! THANKS in advance.

Best Layout for Product Page SEO

Hi I am looking to revamp my website and would like to know your views on the best product layout for SEO - in particular if it better to have tabulated content like play.com http://goo.gl/4xdqp or non tabulated content like Amazon. http://goo.gl/cojKj Are there any pros or cons to each approach? I believe tabulated looks better and is easier to navigate but do the engines see this as hidden text? I have been told this is an issue with expandable divs. Many thanks David

How unique do product descriptions need to be?

I'm rewriting approximately 10,000 product descriptions, but for feasability it's useful to sometimes reuse some of the phrases that are there (and on other websites as they come straight from the manufacturer -eg. key features), how unique does the content have to be - are we talking 100%, 75%, 50% for it to be effective in google? Same question goes for the product title! Many thanks.
