What Is your view on wix domains?

For almost 3 years I am the owner of www.cheflekker.com. A wix domain.... It was sure easy to set up and still easy to change the layout. Only problem is... SEO. For the most part I find it difficult to monitor my site on areas of improvement and actually see the results.
What is your opinion on the wix (ajax) program? any tips?

Wix always had and always will have problems.
They are slowly trying to understand the importance of SEO for their users.
They do a wonderful job giving you a "DIY" site creator which is super easy to use and setup but for that you comprimize a lot of other things.What Dmytro mentioned about funny #! characters in the URLs was actually Wix users nightmare. Around last october (2015) majority of Wix sites got deindexed just because of poor development QA and laziness of Wix programmers. They assumed whatever they want to assume to cut corners with Google Ajax issue. IMO Wix never was good enough SEO wise.

I wouldn't say that Wix is that bad when it comes to SEO. Yes, there are limitations like no access to source code, robots.txt, little control over sitemap, canonical tags, funny "#!" characters in URLs (due to Ajax technology) etc. The blog part is pretty limited, you can't change meta titles, urls, descriptions, can't put rel=canonicals.
That said, I think Wix got a lot better in the last year or so, in terms of SEO. You can optimise every page of your site, they got better with the website load time, they use schema markup for product pages, etc.
Furthermore, I had few clients with Wix websites, and can say that we've achieved some good SEO results. Of course, if you have a large website that requires some advanced technical operations, I wouldn't recommend Wix. But, for small websites, I think Wix does a decent job.

For SEO Wix is terrible to keep optimized, sure its easy to get a look and design etc. however they are difficult to optimize and its a bit of an uphill struggle to get what you want out of.

Leveraging the authority of a blog to boost pages on a root domain.
Hi! Looking for some link building advice. For some background, I work for a company that has over 100 locations across the US. So we are deeply involved with local SEO. We also do a ton of evergreen/ national SEO as well and the spectrums are widely different for the most part. We also have a very successful blog in our industry. It really is an SEO’s dream. I do not even need to worry about a link strategy for this because it just naturally snatches them up. I’m trying to find some unique ways to utilize the blog to boost pages on my main root domain, more specifically, at the local level. It is really hard, besides the standard methods for local link building, to get outside sources to link to our local office pages. These pages are our bread and butter, and the pages we need to be as successful as possible. In every market we are in, we are at a disadvantage because we have one page to establish our local footprint and rank, compared to domains that have their entire site pointed at that local area we are trying to rank in. I’ve tried linking to local office pages from successful blog posts to attempt to pass link juice to the local pages, but I haven’t seen much in terms of moving the needle doing this. Are there any crafty ideas on how I can shuffle some internal linking around to capitalize on the blog’s authority to make my local pages rank higher in their markets? Thank you! -Ben

I have a USA Shopify store and want to create a UK store. Should I use a domain or a sub-domain for the new store?
I'm currently running 2x Shopify Stores (names changed from actual): "coolpants.com" is our UK store "us.coolpants.com" is our USA store However, Google Analytics has shown that most of the traffic to "coolpants.com" comes from the USA, and this market has our biggest growth potential. So we want to switch our domain setup to the below: Make "coolpants.com" our USA store Stop using "us.coolpants.com" and redirect it to "coolpants.com" Set up our UK store as a new domain ("coolpants.co.uk) or subdomain ("uk.coolpants.com") My question is – should I set up the UK store as a domain or a sub-domain? What are the pros and cons of each? Thank you in advance for any help!

Does having 2 separate domains with similar content always = duplicate content?
I work for a global company which is in the process of launching their US & European websites, (just re-launched Australian site, migrated from an old domain) all with separate domains with the purpose of localising. However, the US website content will essentially be the same as the Australian one with minor changes (z instead of s, slightly different service offerings etc) but the core information will be the same as the AU site. Will this be seen as duplicate content and Is there a way we can structure this so that the content won’t be seen as duplicate but is still a separate localised website? Thank you.

Google plus page multiple domains
Hi I have had a .com domain for many years linked to my google plus page and local verified to my UK office address. This site sells and advertises my products, some of them are uk only like the school and computers I sell and the rest are digital and world wide. I decided to start a .co.uk domain to be more targeted to the uk and advertise only the school and computers which I sell to the uk and just link to the .com for digital products. I want the .com domain to attract world wide customers and the .co.uk for uk customers. What do I do, does it make sense to connect my google plus business page to the .co.uk site? Should I still have a google plus page for the .com site? I only have 1 office and thats in the uk. Not sure what to do here. I dont want to lose rankings or do anything negative. Thoughts? Thanks.

Sub-Domain Google Search Nested under main Domain?
Hello, I have a strange issue that I have not come across before:My subdomain is: michigan.dogdaycare.com. Some of the Keyword searches show our subdomain being nested under the main domain for Google searches instead of being indexed individually. Example search term: Dogtopia Bloomfield https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=dogtopia+bloomfield -This will show two subdomain links nested under the main domain Example search term: Dogtopia Birmingham https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=dogtopia+birmingham -This shows the subdomain showing correctly in searches and not nested. Any idea as to how to fix this? Thanks in advance!
