Should I disallow crawl of my Job board?
-
MOZ crawler is telling me we have loads of duplicate content issues. We use a Job Board plugin on our Wordpress site and we have allot of duplicate or very similar jobs (usually just a different location), but the plugin doesn't allow us to add any rel canonical tags to the individual jobs.
Should I disallow the /jobs/ url in the robots.txt file? This will solve the duplicate content issue but then Google wont be able to crawl any of the individual job listings
Has anyone had any experience working with a job board plugin on Wordpress and had a similar issue, or can advise on how best to solve our duplicate content??
Thanks

Hi David
You can probably leave the pages as-is and allow Google to crawl them. But you may want to update the part of the content that's triggering the duplicate errors. In other words - are your title tags and meta descriptions unique for each page? Or maybe the H1's are duplicates? Since the pages do have slight differences, I would use those differences to make the content unique.

Do YouTube videos in iFrames get crawled?
There seems to be quite a few articles out there that say iframes cause problems with organic search and that the various bots can't/won't crawl them. Most of the articles are a few years old (including Moz's video sitemap article). I'm wondering if this is still the case with YouTube/Vimeo/etc videos, all of which only offer iFrames as an embed option. I have a hard time believing that a Google property (YT) would offer an embed option that it's own bot couldn't crawl. However, let me know if that is in fact the case. Thanks! Jim

Blocked URL parameters can still be crawled and indexed by google?
Hy guys, I have two questions and one might be a dumb question but there it goes. I just want to be sure that I understand: IF I tell webmaster tools to ignore an URL Parameter, will google still index and rank my url? IS it ok if I don't append in the url structure the brand filter?, will I still rank for that brand? Thanks, PS: ok 3 questions :)...

Cloaking? Best Practices Crawling Content Behind Login Box
Hi- I'm helping out a client, who publishes sale information (fashion sales etc.) In order for the client to view the sale details (date, percentage off etc.) they need to register for the site. If I allow google bot to crawl the content, (identify the user agent) but serve up a registration light box to anyone who isn't google would this be considered cloaking? Does anyone know what the best practice for this is? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Nopadon

Can I Disallow Faceted Nav URLs - Robots.txt
I have been disallowing /*? So I know that works without affecting crawling. I am wondering if I can disallow the faceted nav urls. So disallow: /category.html/? /category2.html/? /category3.html/*? To prevent the price faceted url from being cached: /category.html?price=1%2C1000

Google showing former meta tags in search results inspite of new tags being crawled by it
I had changed the meta tags for a site www.aztexsodablast.com.au about a month back and Google has also crawled those new tags but in search results when I search for the term 'Aztex Sodablast' it is continuing to show the old tags while on the site, the new tags are being displayed. What may be the issue and how could I correct the problem?

At what point is the canonical tag crawled
Do search engines (specifically Google) crawl the url in the canonical tag as it loads or do they load the whole page before crawling it? Thanks,
