Raising a page in search engines - My plan - Thoughts...
-
I am trying to put forward a strategy for my company on how to create content, then follow it up with link building and social posts in hope to build the page rank in search engines like Google.
Can you please take a look at this and let me know your thoughts? I have read the MOZ help documentation about search and want to see what you guys think. This is not a local search, we are a national website selling products throughout multiple offices.
So we are trying to rank for certain keywords. This is what we have come up with. Any help/opinions would be greatly appreciated!
Step 1: Create a page around the keyword that we want to rank for. The page must be well written, contain content which is engaging and may be hard to get this content elsewhere. The page may contain a video with further information on the topic. Of course the correct tags must be present (H1), page titles, etc.
Step 2: Once the page is created it is time to start getting people to see the page. This is where we start with social media. Making a post about the page and getting people to see it. (Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Twitter, etc.)
Step 3: Press release. When sending out press releases on topics related to the page, we can link to the page in the release.
Step 4: Articles on industry websites. Try to get industry websites to write an article on a certain topic that we specialize in. If they can link to the page we created in the article, it would help. (Sites with high page ranks and .edu websites are extra powerful.)
Thanks for reading.

Step 1 should really start off with something more along the lines of "Create a page around a product or service we provide. Determine related search terms, expanded terms, relevant informational queries, FAQ questions, LSI terms, etc. that could be used to enhance content of the page and draw traffic." Don't create a page for a single term. Create a page because it actually provides the user/customer/visitor with something worthwhile and relevant that you provide/offer.
Step 2 should not be all about Social Media. SEO _is_how you get people to see/find your site. Social Media is a useful tool along side this but its more than just posting up a new page or a new blog post two or three times a week to your Company Page and somehow magically drawing in millions of followers... its about building a community, conversing with the community and related pages, cross-promotion, making yourself into an industry leader and authority on relevant related subjects. Now, if this is more of a B2B operation then you might want to consider a few other things. Because when thinking about it from that perspective you'll want to do some research about the major social networks and forums that members of that industry use. While Facebook, Google Plus, & Twitter seem like great ways to push out a new site page and to start getting some traction, if all your industry professionals who would care about your information are on LinkedIn and PartnerUp then you'll want to prioritize that. Or if they congregate around a handful of G+ community or Facebook pages then you'll want to work towards being able to post your information there and/or be posted by the admins & users of those groups.
Press Releases sound nice but make sure that its a good, legitimate press release service. Back in the day there were tons of these services out there and they were really good at getting your post on one or two decent sites.... and 300 crap sites... all of which were 'useful' at the time but definitely lead to some headaches involving disavows when that became a thing. Just because your content is being syndicated across a whole bunch of sites doesn't mean that its necessarily a good thing... for all you know, the bulk of those pages are buried so deep and NoIndexed instead of having a cross-domain canonical to the 'original' so there's no traffic to & through it and no equity being gained. And hell, since it could be creating 300 instances of duplicate content and most of those sites probably do the same for tons of other 'clients'... those links you do get will potentially be from low quality, low domain authority, and fairly spammy sites.
Step 4 sounds fine. You might also want to look into something like HARO (https://www.helpareporter.com/), offer up an article to a relevant business journal as an editorial (and don't try to 're-sell' that article to multiple sites with 'a couple tweaks'), reach out to leaders in related industries for legitimate cross-promotional opportunities, look into opportunities to speak with or offer insight to the writers of relevant industry blogs, etc.

These would be pages. For example. A hot keyword in our industry is "SG1". We want to create a page that tells about SG1, why it is needed, what we can do to help, applications for it, etc.

Are you creating informational type posts like blog content? I would advise against creating pages around singular keywords.

Competing for a specific keyword beyond on-page factors
Hello, I am trying to rank better for 'keyword X', a critical query that I'm outside the top 50 for, though we grade out at an A via Moz's on-page grader. One of our main competitors ranks #1 for this keyword, despite not using 'keyword X' once in their meta title, body content, or image tags. My assumption is that the volume and quality of backlinks to the competitor's site is driving their high ranking. If this is the case, how can I identify backlinking opportunities to compete better? Are there other factors I'm overlooking here? Thanks

Honest thoughts needed about link building / removal.
I have a small online business that has suffered through Google updates over the past year. Turns out that the links built by a previous SEO were harmful - yes, it's the usual story, I know. I've been in touch with an SEO about link removal/link building and have had a proposal. It's not cheap and I would need to dig deep, but it'll certainly be worth it if things work out. If it doesn't, it'll probably become impossible to continue the business. Personally speaking, it's a sorry situation. For link removal, the SEO's proposing to contact the webmasters followed by disavowing, if needed. There's 15k links, but I think a high percentage of these are from industry blogs that I sponsor that have site wide links. Have you heard many success stories about outsourced link removal? For link building, they will be targeting industry websites and blogs. The thing is, I know most of the industry bloggers anyway, and can probably reach out to them myself, if I can develop the right high quality content that they will want to feature. Call me a cynic, but I'm not sure how the SEO can do this. The quality of content on these blogs is extremely high as it's a very creative/visual industry that I'm involved in. I'm just not sure how much scope there is for a third party (with no knowledge of the industry) to do this effectively. That said, there's blogs that aren't directly related to my niche, and I suppose there's possible opportunity there. Maybe??! If the link removal is a good idea, am I better off trying to build links myself and combine that with the link removal service?

Should I request backlinks to use anchor text that is page specific?
I work for a community college, with fairly high seo for the college in general. We have no budget for advertising specific programs, so we are trying to optimize individual pages on the website, e.g., physical therapy assistant, welding, etc. Does it make a difference if other websites use our main url, college name, or the college name plus specific program as the anchor text? Also, I'm seeing some posts here recommending to avoid lots of directory listings. I assume that doesn't apply to industry specific directories, like nursing school directories, right? I'm still a very new newbie and appreciate your advice.

Low quality links for Amazon product page=high rank?
I am wondering if there would be any benefit in using low cost link building gigs off of fiverr and seoclerks for specific Amazon product pages. The theory I have heard behind this is Amazon's authority is so high, that even the bad links pointing to the specific product page add to the SEO of the page. When google see's a product page on Amazon, they already assign it a high authority, so links help google see which page is the most popular in that niche, and ranks it. Amazon product pages already rank high in google search results, so the idea is this would give specific pages a little boost. Do you think this is a valid method for getting a specific amazon product page to rank high on google search? I understand this is not the normal type of question here, and it really only applies to Amazon product pages specifically, and not normal sites.

Should I work on links to a specific page or site in general?
Hi Guys, I'm trying to have my page rank better for "sell my car Houston". I'm about to start working on getting links to our site and my question is should I work on getting links to that specific page or would it be OK to just get links to the home page (same seo effect)? Specific page: http://www.motorsonwheels.com/pages/sell-my-car-in-houston-tx Home page: http://www.motorsonwheels.com Thanks! -Nash

Why links coming from this page are never found? (opensiteexplorer)
There is a very strong authority and ranking website that has links on it to some of our competitors websites and other companies. I used opensiteexplorer to check if these links were showing up as backlinks on competitors site but I was unable to find them. This 'powerful' page of links has been around for quite a while so I don't think time has anything to do with it. SEOmoz toolbar itself gives the particular page good rank, trust, and authority. Using this website (not sure it has any use) http://rapid.searchmetrics.com/en/ it finds the outbound links and domains. I was unable to find any nofollow or noindex things anywhere on the site.. Just looking at the site and it's links I would think it an ideal backlink target for my company. However using opensiteexplorer I am lead to believe this backlink is never being found? Any thoughts? Cheers

Why is my Page Rank 0.
Hi, I am trying to understand why my Page Rank is 0. Many forums say that it is because my site has been blocked by google. Any help with this would be much appreciated. http://davincidrivers.com

Link Location: In main page or inner "Link" page?
My question is what´s best of Link Building: have it in main page or in internal Link Pages. I have the problem that have to reduce the number of outgoing links in my mainpage to rank better, but do not want to miss any linkjuice. How Linking in Main Page or Internal Pages affects SERP for your website? And should they be Follow or not Follow? Thanks in advance Maria Jesus
