Does embedding Yelp reviews hurt SEO?
-
Yelp has embed code for reviews now - does it count as duplicate content? Will this hurt or help my SEO?
-
Hi there Linda!
I agree with Oleg. I would sort through the reviews and see which service or product they mention, and then place the review on the page for that service or product! That way you're not just adding content to add it, but adding relevant content that could help convince people on the site.

Thank you for the advice. I was putting them all on one page (sounds like a mistake).

If you are adding the embed code to a page that already has a good amount of unique content, it shouldn't have any major effect on SEO.
Pros: more relevant content, updated frequently, great for UX/CRO
Cons: decreases page speed, non-unique content (if its a small part of the total content, shouldn't be an issue)

Google Reviews Rich Snippets
Howdy Moz fans! Does anyone know if you can use Google Reviews as a Rich Snippet in the actual Google listing for your business? It seems strange that you can have this for widgets like Trust Pilot and Reviews.co.uk and not Google Reviews. Surely Google allow you to display Google reviews on your site that can then be used for schema mark up? Maybe they don't because those reviews are used for local searches? Hope this makes sense. David.

Does anyone use an embeddable Google review widget?
Currently, I use an embeddable Yelp review widget on my site. The widget I use has been helpful, but is no longer actively maintained and I'd prefer to show Google reviews instead. Does anyone have a recommendation for a widget to embed Google reviews?

Google Reviews Hassle Reduced - Will It Affect Your Strategy?
Hey Local Pals 🙂 As you may have read this past week, Google has FINALLY stopped requiring users to have a G+ account in order to leave reviews. I find this such a breath of fresh air, given what a hassle it was for many customers who simply didn't ever get into the whole Google+ thing to leave reviews on this major player. I believe this can be seen as one of the last stages of the plus/local separation that has been ongoing for many, many months. Given this change, I thought it would be a good time to discuss reviews. My main question is, now that the only thing your customers need to leave a review is some type of Google account, will you be ramping up your Google-specific review outreach? And, in your own experience, do you feel that Google, Yelp or a different review source has the most impact on your business? Would that be ranking impact, leads, conversions, something else? Best practice is to be diverse, of course, but if you could earn good reviews in just one place, which would it be, and why? And, if you have any unusual tips for review outreach, I know the community would love to benefit from them. Thanks for joining the discussion!

Yelp Jumps Into Home Services - Will You Jump With Them?
Hey To All Our Local Adepts 🙂 You know how Amazon, Google and Facebook have all been experimenting with how they can become the middleman between customers needing home services and companies that provide those services? Well, Yelp is getting into the game now, too. On the one hand, so many local business owners know the very real impact their Yelp profile can have on their bottom line. I've spoken to local business owners who have told me Yelp drives more phone calls than their own websites do. On the other hand, Yelp has not had an unblemished relationship with business owners or Local SEOs. This interesting tension between Yelp's dominance in the review world and their satisfaction track record in the business community makes me wonder how many people will try out their new leads program and whether business owners will trust Yelp less or more than Amazon, Facebook or Google. What do you think? Would you be interested in giving Yelp's new program a try? If you're advising clients, which of the four emergent home service programs (Google, Yelp, Facebook or Amazon) would you suggest first, and what would you base your recommendation on? Has anyone tried Yelp's program yet? How's it going?

Moving my photography business to another state. Is it possible to transfer Google My Business listing WITHOUT losing my Google Reviews?
A friend of mine is transitioning her photography business to another state. She moved about 5 years ago and consequently lost all of her Google+/Yelp reviews. Having reviews as a photographer is EXTREMELY important for her business reputation. She doesn't want this to happen again. Is it possible to change the location of a Google my Business page and keep the existing reviews? Thanks

Customer Reviews & Message Boards
Hi there, Is there any value to responding to negative reviews that are older than this year? I have some that span from 2009 until now, as well as negative message board posts. Another question, to mitigate this, should I have the client respond to just reviews or actually get on the message boards as well and address some issues that have been brought up with the company? Some are specific customer complains, some are just talking about the company in general. Thanks!
