Why would the PageRank for all of our websites show the same?
-
The last time I checked (early this year), the PageRank on the sites I manage varied, with the highest showing as 6. It made sense as the PR6 site has loads of links and has been around for a long time, whereas the other sites hadn't.
Now all of our websites are showing the same PageRank - 6, even one that has recently launched and another that has barely any links/traffic or anything to it. I didn't check the PR of that one last time (I'd be surprised if it was 2), but the sites now showing as 6 ranged from PR3 to PR6 back then.
We changed server in February...so could this issue be something to do with all of the sites being stored on the same server? It doesn't seem right but it's the only thing I can think of.
At the moment, the Domain Authority for these six websites ranges from 27 to 62.
-
Yes. Every tool I know of that provides PR pulls from the tool bar PR.
-
I don't use Google Toolbar, I've used the PR checker on here, and tried a couple of others elsewhere, including prchecker.com I think. Do they all use the same data?
-
The server shouldn't be an issue at all. PR in the tool bar is very unreliable. Soon Google is going to stop supporting it. I wouldn't worry at all about it. Domain authority and page authority from the SEOmoz tool are much more reliable.

Navigation is not showing up when disabling JS?
HI Mozzers, I am checking at a site Navigation and when disabling JS, I can see that navigation is not present. When checking at individual nav items, they are true HTML I believe since they carry attribute but somehow not crawlable. I am confused since JS is disabled and Nav is not showing up, isn't it suppose to mean that Nav is 100% JS? Can someone tell if the Nav is good or bad based on the fact it has true HTML? I am not sure because couple years ago I knew that Google was not crawling well JS but seems that things have change based on http://searchengineland.com/tested-googlebot-crawls-javascript-heres-learned-220157. Thanks for letting me know!

How to check a website's architecture?
Hello everyone, I am an SEO analyst - a good one - but I am weak in technical aspects. I do not know any programming and only a little HTML. I know this is a major weakness for an SEO so my first request to you all is to guide me how to learn HTML and some basic PHP programming. Secondly... about the topic of this particular question - I know that a website should have a flat architecture... but I do not know how to find out if a website's architecture is flat or not, good or bad. Please help me out on this... I would be obliged. Eagerly awaiting your responses, BEst Regards, Talha

Controlling PageRank vs flat site architecture
Hey all. Here's the scenario. I have this pretty trusted site with a relatively high PR. The navigation menu has around 300 links. But this is because it is a CSS menu that drills down into subcategories. Now, would restricting the amount of links in this menu be beneficial? I am not worried about any subcategory pages not being crawled or indexed, but I am concerned that subcategory pages will not receive as high of PageRank if they are not linked to directly from the home page, thereby lowering the ranking potential. Even with new pages that are created they receive a PR of 5 if linked to from the home page. But I'm also thinking that toning down the menu size would be beneficial by funneling more PageRank to category pages and increasing the likelihood of ranking for some core head/middle terms. I have seen sites that externalize the menu in JavaScript files and disallow it in Robots.txt to prevent too much PageRank from linking out, but SEO isn't really a one-solution-fits-all in my experience. I may try a test. Externalizing the menu may also increase the relevance for pages because I won't have a bunch of other content on the page not relevant to that page's specific keywords. Anyone with experience in this arena? I would love to hear your input. Thanks

What To Do For A Website That is Mainly Images
I have a website that is a desktop wallpaper script. People can come and upload 100's of wallpapers to share with the community. This is were the problems comes in. Files are normally called 27636dark.jpg or whatever and come with no description. This leads to 2 things. no text content that google can use to know what the page/image is about. Meta descriptions, URL's just look like spam. Example: /car-wallpapers/7636dark.jpg If a text description was added, it would still only be like "Green Trees in the distance". Which as you may guess, with 1,000's of wallpapers... would end up having a lot of descriptions the same. Is there any advice for sites that focus on image driven content?
