UK and USA site showing up in UK serps for Brand search
-
Hay Moz Community.
I really hope you can shed some light as I am going round in circles.
If you do a search in google UK for Oak Furniture Land you will see the two result is www.oakfurnitureland.co.uk and then www.oakfurnitureland.com
The problem I have is only the UK site should be showing. Both have hreflang implemented and targeting in search console for UK and USA respectively but it seams that google does not want play ball.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated
Alex

Hi Joel,
It certainly is not a simple fix as we have ticked all the standard boxes.
The hreflang has been in a good 4-5 months now.
We have offices and stores in the Uk so have business listings set up for them to cover the local citation and pack. hopefully will have physical offices in the USA soon so I can do the same. Its not a massive issue as the UK domain holds the top spot but the directors and I cant fathom why the US serp is still showing.

Hey Alex,
That is tough - after reading the title of your post I assumed this would be a quick "add hreflang tags and set international targeting in Google Search Console." How long have the hreflang tags and international targeting been set up? The answer may be just to 'wait'.
Do you have offices/locations in both the US and UK? If so, you could set up Google Business pages for each and link to the appropriate site given the region. This would also allow you to build local citations and/or business listings using country specific directories/websites and make sure those go to the appropriate site. Example:
Submit UK Site to Yell.com ("The UK's leading online business directory")
Submit US Site to YellowPages.com ("YP is a leading local marketing solutions provider in the US")

Volatile SERPS?
I have a new client whose rank is jumping around a lot. I took over the account 7 weeks ago, but they'd been doing SEO with a decent provider. They switched to me because they thought he wasn't working very hard and he's not very nice. I just took them on in December and they started out at #18. On Dec 24 they were at 9, Jan 1 at 12, Jan 2 at 14, Jan 3 at 24, Jan 12 at 19, Jan 15 at 28, Jan 16 at 25, Jan 19 at 28 and today at 24. Some of the really bad black hattish providers have bounced up to the top. Any idea what's going on?

Site Migration of 4 sites into 1?
Hi Guys, I have a massive project involving a migration of 4 sites into 1. 4 sites include: **www.MainSite.com ** www.E-commerce.com www.Membership.com www.ResearchStudy.com Goal of this project is to have 1-4 regrouped into Main Site I will be following the best practice from this post https://mza.seotoolninja.com/blog/web-site-migration-guide-tips-for-seos which has an awesome checklist. I am actually about to start Phase 3: URL redirect mapping. Because all of these sites have hundreds of duplicates, I figured I should first resolve the Main Site dup issues before creating the URL redirect mapping but what about the other domains (2,3,4) though? Should I first resolve the Dup issues on those ones as well or it is not necessary since they will be pointing into the Main Site new domain? I want to make sure I don't overwork the programming team and myself. Thanks For sharing your expertise and any tips on how should I move forward with this.

Reindexing a site with www.
We have a site that has a mirror - i.e. www.domain.com and domain.com - there is not redirect both url's work and show pages so basically a site with 2 sets of URLs for each page. We have changed it so the domain.com and all assorted pages 301 redirect to the right URL with www. i.e. domain.com/about 301's to www.domain.com/about In the search engines the domain.com is the site indexed and the only www. page indexed is the homepage. I checked in the robots.txt file and nothing blocking the search engines from indexing both the www. and non www. versions of the site which makes me wonder why did only one version get indexed and how did the clients avoid a duplicate content issue? Secondly is it best to get the search engines to unidex domain.com and resubmit www.domain.com for the full site? We are definately staying with the www.domain.com NOT domain.com so need to find the best way to get the site indexed with www. and remove the non www. Hope that makes sense and look forward to everyone's input.

Redirecting Pages from site A to site B
Hi, I have a client who have a solid, high ranking content based site (site A). They have now created an ecommerce site in addition (site B). To give site B a boost in terms of search engine visibility upon launch, they now wish to redirect approx 90% of site As pages to site B. What would be the implications of this? Apart from customers being automatically redirected from the page they thought they where landing on, how would google now view site A? What are your thoughts to thier idea. I am trying to talk them out of it as I think its a poor one.

Will an inbound follow link on a site be devalued by an inbound affiliate link on the same site?
Hey guys, quick question I didn't find an answer to online. Scenario: 1. Site A links to Site B. It's a natural, regular, follow-link 2. Site A joins Site B's affiliate program, and adds an affiliate link Question: Does the first, regular follow link get devalued by the second affiliate link? Cheers!

Is this site worth subscribing to?
Hi everyone is, the below site worthwhile submitting to? I see one of our competitors is on here and the article they have published has in turn be picked up by other sites. Is the financial cost worth the back link reward? https://app.prweb.com/Main.aspx?Entity=Home
