Profile pictures : why so ugly ?
-
Profile picture are really really ugly, it really as annoying as the rest of the site really nice and professional.
So why SeoMoz use a very high compression rate ? Bandwidth should not be a problem. The site is slow but only for generating the page content, not downloading the assets.

I agree that you should be able to upload a big image, but unfortunately most of the libraries I've seen for doing backend image manipulation don't do a great job scaling down large images. They often end up blurry.
Whereas a good graphics program will sharpen properly and you'll end up with a much better looking image.
Would be interesting to see if yours looks better if you upload a pre-scaled one.

Oh this is not worrying me, for sure. I just want to warn the SEOMoz staff about this difference of quality between the site design (and content) and the profile picture. No reason for such bad image quality.
I do agree with you, I did upload a big image, but this should not be the solution to have a sharp looking picture...
-
Did you scale your photo yourself before uploading, or let SEOmoz do it for you? My profile image is quite sharp, but I have it pre-scaled to different sizes (nicely, from Lightroom/Photoshop so the sharpening is nice) so I uploaded it at approximately the right size. Your's looks a bit blurry, but maybe you uploaded a really big image?
As for the screen - it depends what monitor people are using...
Just an idea. Either way - I still suggest we all stop worrying about it.

Well I posted this after seeing the photo of Hannah Smith on her blog post :

I have to say that my own picture was taken with very good camera and it looks really bad on seoMoz.
Also I'm on a mac and the screen quality is really good, on regular PC screens this is not the same.

I can't say I had noticed the profile images had particularly high compression. With the right images they seem quite detailed. I don't think you should worry too much about them.
-
That's your point of view, everyone sets his picture and that picture needs to have a standart resolution and dimensons, abbout compression it will be slower if not compressed in your case, i don't feel or see any loading problems :), and bandwith it is all about bandwidth you cant afford flood or/and uncompressed content, there are other users who hasn't a good download connection and uncompressed content is a problem for them or have a limited download

Do we get "Removal of "nofollow" from first custom URL on profile" when we cross 200 Moz Points? I have not received it yet, anything I can do?
Though I have only recently subscribed to Moz Pro, I have been using Moz Blog for quite some time. I recently crossed 200 Moz Points. As per Moz Points, it says "Removal of "nofollow" from first custom URL on profile" for crossing 200 points. I still dont see any links from Moz when I am using OSE. Can anyone suggest what i need to do?

Link Profile - What is Good or Bad?
How can I tell (using Moz tools) which links are okay or not? Looking at them, some are clearly just for rank, but are they worth my effort in removing them? And, if I remove a bunch of links suddenly, will Google penalize me? And how do I know if my link profile is to blame? My site was ranking pretty well in June and has steadily fallen around 4-5 spots across all of my keywords. Some of my competitors without as good of DA, PA and links are outranking me.

GA Profile - Change UA code
Hi I have two sites under one account in GA. The two sites have the same UA code but with different suffixes (-1 and -2). I want SEOMoz to only track the -2 site but I am unable to enter the UA code directly. Is there a way to do this, or do I need to set-up a new account in GA? Any help appreciated. Chris

Backlink profile from Open Site Explorer does not seem to update
I have been monitoring our backlink profile on Open Site for over a year now and despite getting a number of new domains linking to us they are not reflected in the tool. Our URL is: www.BlueLinkERP.com Any thoughts on why this might be the case? The number of linking domains also seems very low compared with other tools we use (i.e. HubSpot)

How do I get our full domain link profile?
With Open Site Explorer I have exported our domain link profile but I only get 65 domains returned when our marketing software reports that we have 315 . . . I know that some domains point to www.bluelink.ca which redirects to www.bluelinkerp.com. Is Open Site Explorer missing these links?
