Would using display:none; to hide a section of text effect SEO negatively?
-
I have seen several sites that put a div feature at the bottom of a page to hide content. If you click on the button, it will extend the page down and be loaded with paragraphs of text rich with keywords.
Does anyone know is this is viewed as a negative with Google?

The text is picked up using a text only browser so I would suggest that Google won't have a problem crawling the content.
Here are the current guidelines from Google
Hope this helps

Initially i would be inclined to suggest anything that can be termed as "hidden" would be advised as a big no-no from the google point of view as everyone has said so far.
Having said that - in the source of the page you have put there - the content that is hidden is fully visible - which would suggest it is not as hidden as it might be if it were being called in from an external source. Would be interesting to here a definitive answer on this particular case though.

So here is a site that I notice uses what I am referring to...https://www.starfiredirect.com
Go to the very bottom of the home page and notice the red bar, click it. It just shows additional information and testimonials. This site is ranking very well and very fast for popular phrases. I have been trying to study what they do, and have noticed this little trick.

Depending on your particular usage, this can be fine - i.e. jQuery sliders hode the slides that are not shown at the current time. As EGOL has mentioned though, you never know what Google will penalize tomorrow.

I agree... Google doesn't like sites that show visitors and robots a different page.

Lots of previous questions on display:none.

If it was my site, I would not hide anything from the visitor. You never know what google will be looking for tomorrow.

Pagination & SEO
Hi We have automatically created brand pages based on which brand they have in their attributes. At the moment, developers have restricted the ability to properly optimise these for SEO, but I also wanted to look at how we should handle pagination. Example: http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/brand/manutan?page=1 http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/brand/manutan?page=2 http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/brand/manutan?page=3 Should we do any of the following - which I've found in an article: Put no follow on all links located on pagination pages Should we no index these pages as they are wasting crawl budget? - Don’t show links to page 2, 3, 4, 5… 10, 11, 12… at the end of your content but only a link to the next and previous pages so that you won’t dilute your page authority. Or does anyone else have any tips on how to handle these pages? Thank you!

Frames and SEO
In the old days frames were a problem because they could end up being orphaned pages that get indexed and appear in the SERPS but had to navigation so they were useless. Are frames still a problem with Google and if so what are the suggested solutions?

Video SEO
Hello All! I'm wondering about the best way to link build and carry on my video trend. I love to create video's with all of my articles as I feel it adds an extra element to just boring old text! The problem is that my current 25 links from Youtube are all NoFollow. This didn't originally bother me, but it's starting too. Is there a couple of websites that I could upload my article/ video to and gain a link from in a similar manner? Come to think of it, is this a good SEO tactic to use?

Does title text of homepage effect ranking of sub pages?
Question is pretty much summed up in the title. I realize that title text on a specific page can effect the ranking of that page. But what I'm getting a feeling of lately is that google uses the title text of your homepage to effect the ranking of the site on a whole. Thoughts?
