My websites Internal page is not ranking.
-
Hi,
I had "x1", "x2","x3" keywords ranked for my websites internal page that is "www.somesite.com/internal-page.htm" i was fairly doing well for my keywords mostly in top 5, but now the case is from last couple of weeks, my internal page url is gone & replaced with home page.
And I don't see internal page anywhere mostly in top 1000, is that penalty to internal page ?If yes how can i troubleshoot this ? I see my other pages in top 20-30 but that specific page is not anywhere.
Please let me know.
-Sunny.

Would you mind sharing a link the page? It would be much easier to talk specifics if we could look at the page.
In general terms, you want to examine the page and your site for the desired keyword. The two questions I would ask are:
Is your page optimized for the "x1" keyword or phrase?
Earlier today someone asked what he could do to improve his ranking for "Las Vegas vet". An examination of the site's home page showed that phrase was not used a single time on the page. You need to ensure you offer solid content with appropriate usage of the term, without stuffing the page.
Is your site canibalizing your SERP?
When you search for the keyword, do other pages from your site appear? If so, try to figure out why. Google apparently believes the page offered is a better match for "x1". You can help by modifying the page a bit and replacing "x1" with a different keyword designed for that particular page. You can also use anchor links for x1 throughout your site. These links would help users find the desired page and let Google know you are focusing that keyword to a particular page.

If your homepage has keywords x1, x2 and x3 in its title, headers and content it might be that Google considers your homepage stronger than your internal-page.htm. That could explain why you are seeing your homepage in the SERP instead of internal-page.htm.
You can try to tackle this by making sure that you don't have overlapping titles/headers/content plus perhaps tossing a few internal and external links to www.somesite.com/internal-page.htm.
And one more thing: patience!

My site was hacked and I had 1000s of pages that should not exist created and has had 1000s of backlinks put in. Now i have the same pages and backlinks redirecting to 404 pages. Is this why my site crashed out of google and my SEO fixes since have made no progress to my problem?

My Recent Drop from the first page
Hello, I have a website design operation in Akron, Ohio. I have been ranking on the first page for the last year or so. Just recently (within the last 5 -6 weeks) I have fell back to page 2 on google. I have changed up my content a little bit on my home page, adding more references to the "Web Design Akron Ohio" keyword. I have looked at the sites ahead of me and I noticed that most of the highest ranking sites are using Meta-Keywords, which moz suggest not to. I added Meta-Keywords about 10 days ago just testing if there would be any ranking change and so far no change at all. Would someone be kind enough to look at my site and throw out some suggestions of what I might do to get back to the first page? I'm trying to rank for "web design akron ohio" and my URL is http://www.uswebproducts.com Any help would be appreciated.

Please critique my seo packages page on my website
Hello, I think there is a lot of room for improvement to my SEO packages (analysis) page on my website. Visit it by clicking here. I've always done SEO for our own business, so I'm new to this. Any help is appreciated. btw: I'm going to redo the chart on the page. I don't think profit and sales would ever compare like that. Thanks.

3724 pages submitted, 3591 indexed
You probably know what I mean, the report in Google Webmaster Tools > Sitemaps. So how do I locate the pages that are NOT indexed? Thanks, Ben

100's of versions of the same page. Is rel=canonical the solution???
Hi, I am currently working with an eCommerce site that has a goofy set up for their contact form. Basically, their are hundreds of "contact us" pages that look exactly the same but have different URLs and are used to help the store owner determine which product the user contacted them about. So almost every product has it's own "contact us" URL. The obvious solution is to do away with this set up but if that is not an option, would a rel=canonical tag linked back to the actually "contact us" page be a possible solution? Or is the canonical tag only used to show the difference between www vs non-www? Thanks!

Best company to do an analysis of our website
Is there anyone out there you would recommend to do a full analysis of your site? We are looking to see if we can find someone to look at our site. We have already done stuff like SeoMoz, Ahref, and Majestic.

How to report rankings after the Google Venice update?
As a profesional agency we focus on traffic and conversions, but rankings are still a good KPI to please customers. Unfortunately rankings are not reliable anymore sinds the Google Venice update. My question is; "How can you still report about rankings, but without the risk that your customer sees total different results?" Software we use At the moment we use Rank Tracker from Link Assistant.
