What variables could be used to calculate the value of a Twitter follower? I m thinking something of
- Click through rate
- Conversion rate
- Retweets
- Number of followers
Something else?

I fully agree it depends on me and my products - this is why I am asking for ideas to find metrics rather than asking for numbers.

Both very good answers, the best answer is... it depends. A lot of it has to do with your product. Take SEOmoz. A good follower for them could be someone who has 3 followers but converts to a member or a follower with 1000 (quality) followers that has never visited the site but RT's SEOmoz.

The value of a twitter follower depends upon YOU, not the follower.
Can you get the follower to your website so that ad impressions or sales are made?
Can you get the follower to make an action that will bring one of his followers to your website?
If you can't do the above then followers are worth zero. And, followers that are worth something to you might not be worth anything to me.
The only exception is when you are working for votes or working to get a message out. Then the followers value again depends upon YOU doing something to get specific actions out of them that help accomplish your goal.

What are you actually trying to work out? For me a twitter follower isn't an individual unit but an average.
e.g. Of 100 followers, I get 50 visits a month to my site, of which 2 buy a product for a £100 total profit, so 1 follower = £1
It's not super easy to track, but is doable depending on your goals. I would imagine you want something similar.
Yes, engagement is good, but unless you're making money (or whatever your aim is) from them, then they're worth nothing.

Hi guys first of all i am really thankful for such an opportunity to test such a wonderful app and i didnt know there is a Q&A community here 🙂 i was actually searching on google about google plus and end up here but the thread i bumped into is a bit outdated anyway a little background on what i am doing. Our company have a 15 local branches, its a service that we provide on our local clients. So since we have 15 local branches what i did is create a personal page and make it as our business page and then claimed all the 15 branches on google maps and all is verified now. You think im correct on creating a personal page and make it as our main business page? I asked because i want to create brands page on each branch or do I even need brand pages for my branches? Was thinking of this custom URLS for our main page (which is our personal page) +OurBusiness for the branch brand page +OurBusinessCity you think it would be cool? 🙂 then on about sections (brand page) where i can add links on tag line description i will put the dedicate branch page of our website www.ourbusiness.com/city, then on that website page i will also put our google plus brand page +OurBusinessCity so its a 2 way link. Please bare with me as i am fairly new to this and i am not really sure if my ideas are stupid so please dont laugh 🙂 By the way my another question is about the ABOUT ME section of google+ personal page, when i add link on the description its a nofollow, i know cause i have this extension on my browser that detects do/nofollow links but on the link section its a dofollow. On the other hand google+ brand page has no links section so if you have a link and want to include it on your google+ brand page easy way to do it is put it on description and i just found out its a do follow HOWEVER it seems like the links on both pages (personal, brand) are not seen by search engines i tried it on several google search simulator and also checked the source code of the pages and i cant seem to find the links so my question is, is google really that useful when it comes to backlink building? Another question is that when i build brand pages i have to use our brand name and so all the branches have the same brand names includes our personal page so all of those 16 pages have the same name, will it be ok? Identifying members on Twitter
We are a member based company. Membership is by business not individual. So for instance if your widget business is a member anyone with a [email protected] email address can sign up and use all our content, portals, etc. I want to take emails and figure out if they are on Twitter. I know Twitter allows you to search your contact list but this wouldn't be that. It would be a list of emails I create. Are there any tools or suggestions to do this in a efficient way besides searching each individual name on Twitter? Thanks for the help.

Do twitter profile links in bio pass juice?
Links that are added in the "Website" field in a twitter profile are nofollow. However, links added to the "Bio" section are dofollow. This has to mean these links are passing juice correct?

How much weight do Twitter Lists carry in Google's determination of user influence?
I have come across a number of Twitter users that have 1000+ Followers, and they typically follow 1000+ people. I've noticed as of late that many of these people are found on fewer lists. I also know that many twitter users are selective about who they actually allow in their main twitter stream and therefore create lists to manage who they follow. Any thoughts on if /how twitter lists contribute to a user's authority and/or influence from the SERP's perspective?

Is facebook and twitter always a good idea to promote a website and improve Google rankings?
I'm attempting to promote a fresh seafood market / restaurant here on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. I have not found a lot of examples of people using Twitter and Facebook to promote this type of business here. Is it hard to justify the time for return here? One benefit I thought for twitter is we could have tweets displayed on site giving us some dynamic content which would hopefully keep Google spider coming back more regularly is this correct? Is there any link building advantage to using these social media sites?
