Word Press site traffic plumit
-
Hi,
I have a client who has a word press site that we put together for him. We have noticed that over approximately the last 2 months his sites traffic has plumitied - its gone from a health 200+ per day and sharply decresaed and is not practically zero.
Has anyone got any ideas of why this might be?
Here is the link to the site - http://wheelworldreviews.co.uk/
Thanks

It also wouldn't hurt to log into Google Webmaster Tools and see if there are any messages to the webmaster from Google in there about any problems.

Thanks for your feedback, I have a hunch it maybe the panda update also. I have also advised my client to take off some if not all of the adverts for now. I'll have a look at the site analytics also to see if I can find anything in there.

If you have analytics installed study them. If you don't, get your log files and run them through a log analysis program.
Find out where the traffic was coming from before the problem started (websites, pages, search engines, keywords, etc.).... then see where traffic is coming from now. That will give you an answer as to where the traffic loss happend.
Noone here can answer that question.
Then you have the question... Why did the traffic drop? Probably impossible to answer.
Have you checked google webmaster tools?

Sounds like a result of the Panda update. Is this syndicated content or original content? From the looks of it it may be syndicated, or at least some of it.

It also looks like the point of the site is less to give the visitor good content and more to attempt to collect ad revenue. The adblocks go well past the actual content of the site in many places, and they're on both sides of the blog. The domain authority is a 19, which tells me this site is in no shape to have as many ads as it does. This is no doubt being punished.
You may also want to run a crawl with the Campaign tool to check for duplicate content issues if you're not using a canonicalization plugin.

You need to dig into Analytics and see where the drop is coming from. Have you lost a keyword that was bringing in traffic? Is it from all Search Engines? Is it Direct traffic or from a referring site. That will tell you where to investigate further.
-
Are you currently running a campaign to see how your rankings are positioned? Have you had any site troubles, down-time, etc?

Ecommerce Traffic increase - moving from 500 to 1000 words/category
Hello, We have found traffic to increase upon adding content to category descriptions. Our category pages are stronger than our product pages. Our main categories (the fourty that are in the navigation) have 500 words on them, carefully written helpful content. We are trying to decide whether to increase (for these 40 categories) to 1000 words per category. Do you think this would increase traffic ? Is it a good idea? Thanks!

How many words per page?
I know this has been answered before, but I don't think it has been in about a year (and we all know how quickly the SEO landscape can change). We're having a little debate on it right now and I'd be curious to get some feedback from the community. What is the minimum number of words you would use on a page? Does it matter to you if it's a second tier (website.com/x) or third tier (website.com/x/y) page? It's always a tough sell on design between trying to keep it clean and trying to provide a lot of useful information. I'd be curious what your thoughts are. Thanks! -Adam

The same phrase in many different pages of one site
Hi,
Content Development | | webg
Recently, I had to add the same phrase, with 15 words, nearly, in 700 posts in a same blog. In this phrase is written about the site ownership and eventually some links showing the posts sources. I thought in create a image, but it will be some variations in the source words (2 or 3), therefore I chose to use text format. I'd like to read some comments and opinions about this kind of insertion (the same phrase in many different pages of one site). For exemple, did you handle this in your site? Problems or benefits (mainly with indexing)? Special code to indicate in this case? Any threat?0 -
Site with mostly images
I am working on a site which will be a portfolio of many photographers - hence there will be a lot of images - each image will have an external link to the photographers site, there will be a very small description and a lot of tags (for the site indexing to work) Bearing in mind that the site will consist of 90% images, 9% tags and 1% text is there a chance the site will rank well for my keywords (which will be the tags)? There will also be social comments e.g. facebook or discus but I want to keep the amount of text to a minimum.

Do you think building one more sub-domain (answers.store.com ) is good or Folder (store.com/answers) or should use forum for this. Actually we are selling cosmetics and on chat people asking us many questions. we want to use those question as content. I'm not sure how we should manage it. Thanks

Onsite Content - Word Count & KW Density
Does the word count of a webpage make a difference to search engines? Are longer word counts on pages indexed higher or given higher priority? For example, say you have 300 words of copy packed with 20 keywords, and say you also have 700 words of copy that have the same 20 keywords worked in, does Google have a preference over which one it ranks higher?

Simple question: How many words optimal for blog posts
Hello, We're adding a blog to one of our sites. How many words should be in a blog post for it to be optimal for the search engines? If it varies from industry to industry, please give a couple of examples. We were going to do 500 words but that seems a bit long. Thanks!
