Backlinks not showing up in the campaign crawl
-
I have been adding backlinks, about 110 since the last crawl, but only 14 new linking domains showed in my campaign profile. Can someone explain?
Is it that the linking domains were not crawled and thus not seen.
Is it that the crawl posting is from data that was crawled a long time ago (4-6 weeks ago) and it took a while for it to show up
is it that the domains i got links on were, possibly, not so hot and just get filtered out?

Thank you Richard. I have been reviewing some of my questions to post updates on what happened since. It seems that some of the backlinks took 4 or 5 months to show up on the report. So perhaps the lower quality links can take longer if they are on small sites who do not get much indexing action.

Rand recently spoke of this and yes, some of this is due to those links not being indexed. Some may be deep links, or simply outside SEOmoz crawl at the moment. SEOmoz is working to increase its indexing power for speed of refreshes and depth of crawls.

There is another post speaking to this, however, SEOmoz does not yet have the ability to Favorite post
I hope that answers your question.

Thanks Dejan, they are not showing up in the SEOmoz Open Site Explorer Crawl (2/21/2011 version). Some are new profiles at places I saw my competitors had, but maybe I need to get something done to get the profiles crawled. Good point. I had left that off the list of to-do items. Very helpful thanks. Some are just regular old links but the new links did not show up. Maybe 5 of the 100+ were profiles. hmmm. Thanks for your help.

Hi Ken,
When you say campaign profile do you refer to SEO Moz or Google Webmaster Tools or backlink profile in general?
Note that 3rd party providers use mostly their own crawlers and you therefore depend on the freshness of their data. If you're talking about Google, link: command only gives a sample, whereas Google Webmaster Tools does provide more detailed backlink information - however in my experience still lagging by 1-8 weeks in some cases.
Time will surely reveal your backlinks if they are accessible to search engines. If they are hidden (eg blank forum profiles) and nothing manages to get to them then to index they will not show up at all.

Backlinking Strategy
I am particularly new to the field of SEO and Backlinking and I have recently started my own blog feel free to have a look (https://thehorseradar.com/). What I wanted to find out is how can I achieve a DA of at least 30. What should be my link-building strategy? & what steps should I take first? With an abundance of overwhelming info available online I have gotten really confused about what would work and what would not. If someone would lay out the steps needed to be taken, I would be extremely grateful! Thank You

Does iframe itself count as a backlink?
Our situation is similar to YouTube. We have an original content on every subpage that is genuinely useful when embedded as a widget on 3r party websites. That is why we offer an embeddable widget that shows slightly simplified version of the content - exactly like a YouTube video embedded on your blog. The embed code is simply an iframe sourcing from our subpage: <iframe src="wikibudgets.org/subpage"></p> </blockquote> <p>1/ Does the iframe itself pass any link value at all to the subpage?</p> <p>2/ If yes, what would be the equivalent of anchor text in iframe?</p> <p>3/ If not, will any link in the subpage pass link value from the 3rd party website to my domain/subpage?</p> <p>4/ If not, will I be punished/rewarded if I ask users to put a visible, unobfuscated link to the subpage below the iframe?</p> <blockquote style="background: #f7f7f7; padding-top: 5px; margin-left: 0px; padding-left: 2px; padding-bottom: 5px; white-space: nowrap; overflow-y: auto; font-family: monospace;"> <p><iframe src="wikibudgets.org/subpage" /><a href="wikibudgets.org/subpage">rich anchor text</a></p> </blockquote></iframe>

If possible, please help me analyse my backlink profile
Ok i have been reading and reading on seo, and been using ahrefs tool to really understand the problem my site is having. if possible some help would be great please so some of the issues and questions. My website is ppp.net.nz and i have been using ahrefs to analyse. 1 - for both backlinks and domains, there has been a significant loss. what does this mean. are they the bad ones, temporary ones? shoudl i be glad im loosing stuff since they might be the ones i dont want? over the last few days it has been leveling out so is that a good sign? 2 - looking at achors text, the majority is for hawkes bay weddig photography. i know this is not right and i need to work on this to make more anchor text about ppp.net.nz, picture perfect photography, etc. is that right? 3- staying with anchor text, i noticed i have lots of anchor texts with terms that are not completely related to mine. this is very worrying. does that mean other people are linking to my site, or has someone hacked into my account, or someone is doing this to hurt my profile? my website is a WP site. i assume it is imperative that i remove all these bad backlinks, even though they are smaller amount. but then they do add up to quite a big chunk. 4- staying with point 3, i checked the backlinks and i do get around 6-10 a days with weird text. i assume backlinks mean links to are going to places and linking back to me? but can this also mean other people just linking to me directly? if so, can this be done via the comments in Wordpress? 5- i have asked people to do SEO for me before, and being ignorant back then, i was happy to see lots of backlinks but i understand now they would hurt me. Now for me to remove them, i know i have to contact the webmasters. But can I contact the person that I hired and get them to remove from our end, instead of from the webmasters' end? Thank you for your help. i try to read and analyse as much as i can. and im glad i found these problems. However, some sound advice would be great please as I honestly dont know how to trust SEO companies. Binh

Why is OSE not showing Google+ bio link in backlink profile?
Hi fellow mozzers I wonder why opensiteexplorer (ose) isn't showing Google+ bio links in backlink profile reports of websites that get a link from the "about" page of a Google+ account (+ contributor link). Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Jacob

Backlinks... If you can beat them & join them?!
I have a competitor who has swooped in on most of the key search terms in my niche, solely through artificial backlinking. There is a direct and obvious correlation between this link building and rise in the serps. I know the mantra around here is creating good content and gaining real links, which I am doing. But I am waiting to unleash this content during a site relaunch which is months away. I don't want to sit around and do nothing while this site makes money and builds their list. I have money to spend and want to go head to head with this site. Would it make sense for me to go and copy all of the links this competitor has built? At least 90% of them are profiles, article subs and blog comments. Also, what do you think would be the best way to tackle this? Any guidance as always is appreciated.

Tagged pages showing too many links
I'm confused - seo moz crawl shows I have lots of pages with too many links. 150 - 200 or so. I'm not sure how any of my pages can have that many links and they don't appear to to me. Here's an example: http://www.musicliveuk.com/tag/wedding-entertainment They all appear to be 'tag' pages. These pages are blocked by meta robots anyway so is this a problem and how do I fix it? I also am very confused by rel canonical. I have 300 odd pages with this warning. Is this good or bad? Plesae help!

Why are Backlinks not showing up?
I've been building backlinks for about 2 months now, but the links are not showing up in seomoz. What is going on? I've built backlinks across many different domains and using a variety of techniques including: directories blog posts blog commenting pr websites industry sites that allow blog posting and press release posting industry forums Some of the links I built were from finding links competitors had and then creating a similar link, like blog commenting. In some cases I took blog articles from our site and published them on industry blog sites. I've searched for many of the pages and I CAN find them, so they ARE being indexed by Google, but they are not showing up as backlinks. I've read some posts that say it can take anywhere from 2 to 5 months or longer before the links show up. I've also read that Google's Webmaster Tools may show the links before seomoz does. Couple questions: Why don't the links show up as backlinks in seomoz? Will they show up eventually in seomoz and, if so, when? Should the links show up in Google Webmaster tools before they do in seomoz? Is there any good reason to believe some of the links will never get recognized, or should I be confident that they will eventually get recognized?
