Still Getting Keyword Self-Cannibalization
-
I used the onsite optimization and made some changes to my post, but am still getting the Self-Cannibalization mention in my results.
It lists this:
"Real Estate Careers | Keller Williams | Career In Real Estate" as the link that is not supposed to be there.
This is not a link, but the title of the post. What am I missing?
-
yes, i'm using 'real estate careers' as the keyword. when i run the report, i get an 'a' with the only error being the cannibalization.
i've been tweaking other pages on my site and am seeing the same thing on most of them....

The On-Page optimization report requires two input factors: the URL and the keyword.
You offered the URL so we are half-way there What is the keyword you are trying to optimize the page for?
I tried using "Real Estate Careers" as the keyword. Your page scored a "B" and was successful on 34 of the 36 metrics tracked by the report. There was no error related to duplicate data or cannibalization.

hey ryan,
i'm running my pages through the on-page optimizer and am getting a notice that I'm Self-Cannibalizing my page by linking to "Real Estate Careers | Keller Williams | Career In Real Estate".
This is not a link, but the title of my post...why is it saying this?
plugin http://www.youdrivethesuccess.com/ into the on-page optimization tool and you will see what I'm talking about...let me know what you think. thanks.

Hi Brent.
We need further information. Your question leaves us open to making too many guesses.
-
When you say "I am still getting self cannibalization in my results", what results exactly are you referring to? The SEOmoz crawl report?
-
Where exactly does it list "Real Estate Careers | Keller Williams | Career In Real Estate"? The "Title Tag" field?
-
Which field says there is a duplication? The Duplicate Page Content field?
The report name, the type of duplication (field name), and the URLs involved are what is necessary to offer a specific reply.
Generally speaking, there are a few possible causes of content duplication. The most common is a need for canonicalization. Often there are multiple URLs which lead to the same exact page. Canonicalization is one way you can declare the primary URL for a given page.

Exact Keyword is Used in Page Title & Exact Keyword Used in Document Text at Least Once
Hi Folks, I have a page https://purplegriffon.com/courses/itil-training/itil-foundation-training/itil-foundation that grades with the 'On-Page Grader' as a B grade for the keyword 'itil foundation' but reports that there is no 'Exact Keyword is Used in Page Title' and 'Exact Keyword Used in Document Text at Least Once'. The thing is, it actually is but because of IP (intellectual property) rights we have to include a '®' (®) symbol when we mention the course title 'ITIL® Foundation'. Now I believe Google is smart enough to recognise that this symbol should not be included but it seems that for the specific criteria mentioned above, the MOZ bot isn't smart enough to recognise this, even though it recognises the keyword usage elsewhere. So my question is this. Would this constitute an issue in terms of ranking? Another question I have, is how significant are the gains with shorter URL's? For example, the URL to the page in question is: https://purplegriffon.com/courses/itil-training/itil-foundation-training/itil-foundation Would a URL such as below have a significant effect on SEO?: https://purplegriffon.com/courses/itil-foundation Thanks for your feedback.

Meta keywords no longer in use
Can someone point me to the official article explaining why meta keywords are no longer taken into account by search engines please? I know Moz has indicated that search engines ignore them, but I would like to read a bit more about it - what was the reason behind it and since when.

Title Page Two Long Still shows
This should be an easy one. I signed up for this service in November. The first report showed many title pages too long etc. I fixed all known errors. On December 28 there was another crawl but the errors still show up on the report. Why? Is there anything I can do to update so I can get down to the few I missed

I am looking to create keyword reports filtered by labels
We have roughly 800 keywords and I have created labels for the different groups of keywords. What I would like to do is have weekly or monthly reports sent to me based on the labels associated with the individual keywords. Any ideas on how I can do this? Thanks David

Does SEOmoz have a keyword visibility report / tool?
Know of a tool where I can show the overall success of a set of keywords, us vs. the competition? A visibility report where a #1 ranking is worth 30 points, #2 is worth 29, so on and so on down to #30 worth 1 point, outside of the top 30 is worth nothing. (something like this). Trying to show an overall visibility scorecard, not sure if I can do it here or with some other tool. Didn't see it on Raven. Thanks!

If my keywords aren't driving any traffic to my site, why am I still ranking for them?
In several of our campaigns we have watched our keywords steadily climb the rankings without ever registering so much as a blip in the traffic data column. If these keywords aren't driving any traffic to our site, how are we still ranking for them?

Campaign Manager Keyword Rankings all messed up???
My campaign in SEO Moz Campaign Manager has just ran it's weekly crawl, and all my keyword rankings are messed up. 18 keywords have apparently dropped by massive amounts, but when I do a physical search, they haven't moved. Also Keyword Tracker agrees with the physical search, so why is the Campaign Manager showing the wrong rankings all of a sudden??
