Campaign tracking and duplicate content
-
Hi all,
When you set up campaign tracking in Google Analytics you get something like this "?variable=value parameters" in the URL.
If you place such a link on your site as an internal link, will it be considered as a different URL and will have its own link value?
The question I have is, since Google knows it's a Google link and knows the original URL (by stripping the tags), does it pass link value to the original URL? If not, what can be done to pass link value?
Thanks in advance.
Henry

Thanks for the answer mate!

Hey Henry,
I'd make sure that the landing page has a rel canonical tag on it and you should be good to go. My guess is that Google either gives full value for the link or a very high amount of the value. Google has gotten a lot better at identifying what page deserves value when it have variables attached to it.

For the purposes of this question our ecommerce site url is www.ecommerce.com Our TLD is ecommerce.com We have, following advice from Yslow, Pagespeed and others, moved our static content to a subdomain - static.ecommerce.com We have Google Analytics and Enhance Ecommerce installed, fired from GTM. The cookieDomain setting in GTM is 'auto' At present cookies are being attached to our static resources. What changes do I need to make to to prevent this happening? Many thanks Julian

We have a problem similar to this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/22229312/universal-analytics-could-not-track-transaction-in-magento On a client's website. I need an absolute knock-out EXPERT at solving this to give us a quote on doing something like this. It's very urgent but it is paid. Basically the site used the old tracking code, worked, then client said they wanted new data so we upgraded to Universal. Now everything works but Ecommerce tracking. Desperately need help! Tracking in Google Analytics
My site has just recently (or maybe not so recently...) had a great deal of https URL's indexed (I was really only able to find this out thanks to the recent update to the GWT Index Status). It appears that Googlebot picked up an ssl somewhere (I already know where) on my site and then proceeded to crawl and index pages with https rather than http. Since I understand the issue, it should be an easy fix. My question is, does Google Analytics support (track) both http AND https for one site, or would I need to set up two different tracking codes for http and https? I figured that I might as well grab some data from the https pages that are indexed before I try and remove them. I've done a little research on using Groupings/Groups but I figured I would reach out to the MOZ community to see if anyone else has worked with a similar issue. Thanks!

I have another issue: I've placed the GA Tracking code on some pages in the way below:

Google Analytics - Cross Domain Tracking Goals
Hi guys, looking at the best way to organize this - Site 1 - Shoe Store - (Old site with analytic history - UA-12345-1) Site 2 - Clothing Store - (Brand New UA-54321-1) Right now i have 2 separate GA Accounts for the sites. But i would like to track goals from Site 2 to Site 1. For that i need to set up cross domain tracking. So i take it i would need to create another account under Site 1 - (UA-12345-2) and put that new code on Site 2? Or do the UA numbers have to be exact? example both 12345-1? In which case, i would need to set up 2 different profiles with filtering? Main concern is i want to keep separate data for both sites, espically if UA's will be the same. Trying to visualize - UA-12345-1 Profile 1Shoes/Master Profile 2 Shoes Profile 3 Clothes Or UA-12345-1 Shoes UA-12345-2 Clothes Thanks, Mike

Track image searches on google analytics
How can i track image searches on google analytics? To filter the refferers by image.google or /imgres does not work in new google analytics (and brings an impossibly small number on old GA). also, this would not cover local google image refferers, that don't come from image.google.com. anyone knows how to find image search sources? i haven't found anything helpful in google's documentation or forums. thanks!
