What is the best wording you have seen in an outreach email?
-
We all get them and most of them are rubbish, very few of them have taken the effort to find out who they are emailing. So making it personal and doing some research first is essential but what about the wording of the email... can you share examples you like & that have had more success for you than others?
-
My most successful emails have consisted of the following
- Ego-Stroking: Make them feel like they are important and valuable
- WIFM: People want to know what are they getting first before you can really grab their attention and negotiate a link/social mention/interview/ etc.
- Personalized: Obviously don't be a robot and try to be genuine.
Also when contacting other webmasters/bloggers try to find out what kind of person they are, meaning are they humorous, boring, academic, liberal, etc. The reason why is because people enjoy like minded individuals, so if you find a webmaster/blogger that tries to be funny in their blog posts than try to add some kind of humor in your email outreach.
This might sound like a sketchy method, but I have seen some good results out of trying to personalize my emails to match the webmasters/bloggers personality.

They were laughing last week because I yelled the F word at some weasel who called me on the phone.
I am usually a nice and helpful person but when someone interrupts me, tries to use me and doesn't take "no" gracefully, I get really mad.
-
Haha excellent... if we had forum sigs in here, mine would be:
"If I don't reply to your email don't call me on the phone... I will not be nice to you and you will hear my employees laughing in the background." - EGOL, 2011
-
Get to the point FAST with WIFM.
One sentence of yada yada yada text and I hit "mark as spam" or ban all future emails from your domain from my inbox.
If I don't reply to your email don't call me on the phone... I will not be nice to you and you will hear my employees laughing in the background.
-
Something that meets all of the following criteria:
- Transparent/Honest/Genuine (not insulting my intelligence with obvious blags)
- WIIFM (Offers me something of value, clearly defined and not a load of baloney)
- Personalized enough that research has obviously been carried out about our company (so not generic)
- An apology for contacting out of the blue along with an unsubscribe/removal from list option for is I'm unhappy about it
- Something simple, clear, straight to the point immediately as I don't have time to read lots of rubbish
- Nothing with offers or sales pitches of any kind of products or services
- Nothing from a throw-away email address, spoofed domain, or a domain that has an unfinished template site
- Nothing with an irrelevant subject purposely trying to deceive me into opening it
With that lot covered it wouldn't get deleted instantly

Best way to check/find lost links?
Hi all As everyone, we have seen a decrease of domain authority and external links during the last months. with open site Rand is explaining the reason in this in this post, but I still would like to have a look to the links that in theory I have lost during the last months. I thought Majestic was the best option but I have been trying to get the info and I see nothing clear. When I download the fresh or history links, I only see links that are live (in theory, because in history I get a lot not existing but I can not see it without a manual check). The option of lost links is just giving me 1000 links per day, but after downloading some and checking I see that this lost link report is showing me links that are working (but it looks that majestic couldn't access when they did the crawling and show them as lost). Also the numbers of lost links are totally different if you use fresh or historic... Anyone could recommend me a good way to find out links that I really lost? Thanks

MOZ indicates 404 page and 0 backlinks, after 301 redirect. The best redirect solution?
Dear MOZers, I have one concern i would like to ask you.. My website have valuable backlinks to the most important page which is awesome. But, some of those backlinks is old URL which is 301 redirected to the URL I use today. As far as i know 301 redirects pass page rank, so it should be alright. (?) Link i use today: domain.com/awesome-url/ My backlink: domain.com/old-boring-url/ 301 redirected to domain.com/awesome-url/ What bothers me is that in MOZ report (Link opportunities) MOZ indicates my important URL (domain.com/old-boring-url/) return 404. But, it is not true. It is 301 redirected to domain.com/awesome-url/ and it works! I am worried i am losing important link juice here(!?) Also, my On Page Grader tool for domain.com/awesome-url/ reports 0 backlinks. And that is not true! I know exactly which websites are linking back, only problem is that those website are using old URL (domain.com/old-boring-url/) to link back to my website. Am i doing something wrong? Is there a better way to redirect and save valuable link juice for my page? Thank you very much! PS The URL was changed in March 2015.

What is the best way to remove a link that redirects to a spammy site?
I've got a new client and I'm trying to clean up their backlinks. There are several links that all redirect to this spam site http://www.expert-lender.com. All of the websites appear to be real, i.e. http://www.sammorganhomes.com/ but the actual links i.e http://www.sammorganhomes.com/wp-fav/backup/supplement/semitruckleasing.html are in a sub-directory and redirect to the spam site. I don't know if these links were from the previous SEO company or if they paid someone to create these or if these sites have been hacked. Can anyone tell me what is going on here and what should I tell these site owners?

Best Link Data to Review
I'm performing an analysis of some of our competitors and was wondering what is the best link metric to look it? Page Specific Metrics - Total Links or Linking Root Domains? Root Domain Metrics - Total Links or Linking Root Domains? Total links seems like it would be less important since it includes internal links from page to page within the site.
