High PR vs Low PR and Relative
-
My main question is if you had a choice between a PR 7 site and a PR 4-5 site that was relative and related to your website content, which would be a better choice? Does relativeness matter anymore?
-
They are both good links, just saying is there a big difference between related content and non-related content. Has nothing to do with link farms or anything. Both are good sites.
-
Completely agreed with Todd.
If the PR7 site is just a page full of outbound links, you'll won't get all the PR7 link juice, so you'd be better looking for a site with relevant editorial content where the link appears natural, regardless of the PR.
As PR is almost always out of date, you never know if Google has already dropped it. Google has stopped even reporting on PR in Google Webmaster Tools as it doesn't wnat people to focus on this metric.
-
Ultimately, I would never make this decision based on PR. I would make the decision based on who could give me the most editorial based link that looked natural, on a page that looked natural, and on a website that does not appear to sell links. That would likely be the strongest link, and least likely to raise and particular red flags.
Page rank is one of hundreds of metrics. Developing a very natural looking, diverse backlink profile consisting of a healthy dose of editorial based links will also land you in desirable places.
-
I'm sticking with my guns on that PR is a bad metric to judge stuff on so I'd definitely go for the relevant sites... even IF PR is still of anything more than a tiny value, relevance kicks ass over it.
-
If the PR4 site was high quality without a lot of duplicate content, no signs of manipulation, and perfectly in my keyword niche I would rather have a link there than on an unrelated PR7 site.
No scientific data to justify this, just sayin' what I would grab.
-
PR 4's and 5's are definitely of value, but I would probably take a 7.
I forget who, but someone talked about the "trickle-down theory" at the SMX Advanced link building presentation. If you get a link from a high ranking website, chances are there are many smaller sites that spin their content or write followups that will also contain a link. So your single PR 7 link just turned into a PR7, plus 3 PR6's, Plus 30 PR5's, etc.
That being said, a link from a PR 4 or 5 site that's within your category would definitely help.

Is it better to have backlinks from domains with medium DA, UR, using same language and good relevancy, or backlinks from domains with high DA, UR but using another language and with less relevancy?
Dear all, while I understand that quality backlinks with high DA, UR, same-language and relevancy would be best, would backlinks with high DA, UR but less relevancy and using languages other than the one used in my website be something good? Or would they do more harm than anything else and still be outcompeted by backlinks with lower DA, UR but same language and/or more relevancy? Thank you Frank

Is too high a frequency of 'money' keywords backlinks considered factor for Penguin penalties, even if the money keywords are on reputable pages ?
Is too high a frequency of 'money' keywords backlinks (eg. a money keyword backlink for moz.com would be "Seo tools") a considered factor for Penguin penalties even if the money keywords are only on reputable pages, with decent PA, DA and trust ?

Internal Linking - Post links vs Side Bar Links behaving differently
Hi, I have a question regarding the internal linking behavior. My website is www.hindimeaning.com which is approx 3 years old. I have approx 450 posts. Now i have a widget on right sidebar "Popular posts". A widget below my posts "Related Posts". And a simple html CSS menu above the posts (I removed menu around 6 month before so currently it will not show.) I crawled my site with moz crawler (same are the result from google crawler as well) and it shows menus links as internal links. While sidebar widget "Popular posts" and "Related Posts" are not showing as internal links. If we talk theoretically what i learn till now is "every link on a page behaves as internal link". Then why the widget links are not showing as internal links. Thanks, Mahesh Kumar

Google and low quality guest posts
In the aftermath of the Penguin and Panda monsters a lot of blog networks seem to have been devalued by Google. It seems logical that spammers will flock to low quality guest posting next. How do you think Google will determine which guest post links to devalue? Thanks!

Will Google penalize for redirects related to a company merger?
Company A is set to acquire Company B. As part of the merger agreement, Company A will be redirecting the linking domains of Company B's website (over 1,000 links) to company A's website. Will Google penalize Company A for redirecting Company B's 1,000 linking domains to Company A's website at one time? If so, would it be better for Company A to redirect Company B's 1,000 linking domains in waves?
