BOTW listing
-
Okay, I've heard a lot about botw.org listing and how it should be on our list. So I dig down to my category, and according to seotoolbar, page does NOT show a google cache date.
Well, wouldn't that be a wast of $150?
Also, I think I'm in the wrong business. I'm seeing these HUGE fees for seo and link building services. Even just consulting is outrageously high.
There has got to be an option for us little guys, but obviously professionals in the seo market are making a ton of money.

Those are the top three for any website. You might consider joeant.com or a few of the other high-ranking directories.
Also added the BBB to the list, thanks to this article.

@azguy, can you offer a link to the page you are referring to?
@Bryce, would you mind sharing the sites on your checklist? The only directories I consider at all are DMOZ, Yahoo and BOTW. Are there others you feel are important?
-
But what about the page not being cached by google?
-
First of all, good links are hard to come by. Either you know someone, or you can pay a lot for a review fee.
BOTW is probably near the top of any SEO's inbound link checklist. If you have the budget, the $150 is worth it. Although your category might not get a lot of traffic, you still earn an inbound link from a new domain, which provides some upward pressure on your search listings.

Still worth it to get listed on "resources" pages
Hello,
Link Building | | imcolej
I'm a new moz user who handles the online marketing for www.griefrecoverymethod.com. We provide grief support groups and 1-1 work as well as professional training for caregivers. We are on some websites as a grief resource, but not as many as I think we can be on. We have never attempted to reach out on a large scale to get added to sites. Is this type of link building worth a large campaign for us? Or has the ship sailed on link building with resource pages. I'm fairly new to all of this so any guidance at all would be appreciated. Thanks!0 -

Sales agents posting job listings
So we are in the middle of a hiring blitz looking for sales agents in different areas of the country. One of our internal sales agents used a program called Job-a-matic which appears to be a product developed or sponsored by SimplyHired. This software seems to have put our job posting on a lot strange sites really unrelated to our industry and they job description such as: truck driver jobs teen jobs white collar jobs jobs a go-go database admin jobs medical coding and many many more When I Google our company name I see all of these listing on pages 3, 4, 5 etc . Is it possible that Google may see these listings as spammy or paid links? It appears as if these listing were just automatically generated and not really controlled in anyway. I'm worried that they could have generated a penalty as we did experience a significant drop in traffic. Thanks -Brandon

Listly and SEO
We use listly quite a lot. A few of our lists get embedded in other sites. A lot of the embedded lists have links back to us. Is there any seo benefit on this, or will just one of the sites count ? Isn't this just duplicate content ? Wondering what your thoughts are.

Paying to be listed on link directories... a little help?
So, I was perusing SEOMoz's suggested link directory list and noticed some sites there require paid links. I have a couple questions regarding this: Is paying for directory listings a good idea? I'm not crazy enough to buy a bunch of links; I want to create a sustainable SEO strategy. But I do know that most everyone does at least a little paid linking. Is there a budget or percentage of ones total links you would recommend for this? Is it REALLY ok to do this at all? Also, assuming I have about $200-$500/month I could spend purchasing links, what sites are best to get links for first? Just a bit of background: we're starting a content marketing strategy for our business and are spending about $2,000 per month "buying" content (design, data, writing, etc.) so purchasing links is definitely NOT our strategy and never will be. Thanks!

Why does Open Site Explorer list SEOMOZ forum links so high ?
When I was checking my back links in Open Sight Explorer I was surprised to see that because I have asked three questions recently here on the forum about my business website www.endeavourcottage.co.uk and they are now listed near the position 3 to 5 Of course I was not putting my business website link on their with the motivation of gaining some SEO benefits but when you get these no follow links do they have any usefulness in that direction? I read that say no follow links have no link juice so is any beneficial aspects? I It wouldn't be the ideal situation to encourage that kind of activity, but if they have no value at all why does Open Site Explorer list them? seo.JPG

My Yahoo Directory listing isn't being indexed by Google - what do to?
I couldn't find this elsewhere in Q&A...so here goes. I recently (a couple of months back) shelled out $300 for a Yahoo Directory listing. My site got included, but my PageRank didn't budge. Figuring it may take a while, I kept on checking Google's index for the link - still nothing. Now it seems as if some Yahoo & other directory categories are excluded from the Google Index, rendering the links useless from a PR point of view. Anything I can do about this? I've heard of suggestions like linking to the specific page of the category where I'm listed, in the hope Google will crawl and re-index, but I don't know. Any thoughts / suggestions? BTW the directory category link is: http://dir.yahoo.com/Business_and_Economy/Business_to_Business/Communications_and_Networking/Telecommunications/Wireless/Software. Thanks in advance...

Is it a good idea to have some backlinks point back to your business listing on the various directories?
During my link building campaign Ive been doing competitive research. I noticed that one of my competitors, who ranks very well organically and locally, has several back links pointing back to his business listing page on the various directories, such as Manta, Yellowbot, and so forth. Ive seen one of their profile pages with a PA as high as 65, where mine has a PA of 1. They seem to be heavily involved in spammy and shady techniques. This is why I'm asking if this is a recommended practice?
