Our blog is indexed by "google web" but does not show up in "google blogs". Why not and how can I fix this?
-
We have a pretty simple blog http://www.aviawest.com/blog
I've noticed our articles arn't showing up in Google blogs on "web", we've submitted to http://blogsearch.google.com/ping a month ago. Anyone have some insight here?
-
Thanks Ryan. I've been submitting but it is a process. Our rss feed doesn't seem to be accepted in blog rolls I've tried. I'm playing with feedburner to try and get one that will work properly.
I'll work on the blog sitemap as well, thanks.

That sets me on the right path. We're actually using a typepad blog integrated with deliverance. Definatly no hope of a 3rd party plugin but I'll try that pingomatic, looks like a great tool.
Thank you!

Russ is right on. you need to ping. I would also do a bit of marketing to get the blog seen in the blogosphere:
1. Manually submit your blog to google blog search. http://blogsearch.google.com/ping. Also submit to technorati and other blog directories.
2. Make sure you have an RSS or Atom feed service.
3. Get on a couple of blog rolls. This doesn have to be "high PR" type of link building, just some incoming links to help google index and identify your blog.
4. Blog Sitemap to Webmaster Tools. This will also assist in the process.

Aside from submitting there, do you ping all the blog search engines with each post? Wordpress should do this automatically, but other blog software may not.
Blog pinging services like pingomatic.com allow you to notify the blog search engines each time a new post is written. If Google doesn't see those pings, they may not have good reason to come out and check your site as often.
It actually looks like you are using Plone as your CMS. If that is the case, you may need to install a 3rd party ping tool like this...

Blog.site.com vs site.com/blog
Which is better for SEO: blog.site.com or site.com/blog. In other words, is it better to have the blog running in a subdomain or as a director within the main site? Right now we are running as a subdomain, but want to be sure Google isn't considering that a separate site. The blog shows up separately on Google Analytics, which makes me think site.com/blog is better if for no other reason, it would give our domain greater traffic. Not sure if this matters, but some site info: our site is a sharing economy tool for renting your stuff we are running the blog on Wordpress blog traffic is about 5% of total traffic

No URL for my blog?!!!
I use a website provider for my website. Sadly, although it has an integrated blog, the blog posts title does not get included in the URL. So now, with my limited knowledge of SEO I'm wondering if blogging is still worth it? Any thoughts Greatly appreciated! 🙂

Authorship for Company Blog -- What if Employee Leaves?
This question has been sort of asked before but I haven't found any concrete answers. We've never really had a consistent author on our company blog. We had an internal employee writing, and then we outsourced for a bit, and now we're moving back to an internal writer. With all the transientness of our authors, who should we be using for authorship? If the new writer leaves our company, they take all their AuthorRank with them. Would it make sense to post all content under one of the founders or maybe even a fictitious employee? Edit: Orrrr do we get the new author to create a separate G+ Profile tied to their company email address that we can retain control over even if they leave?

Have i got my google adsense in the right place
Hi, i am working with a new site which is in wordpress and i am just wondering if i have the google adsense in the right place. I want great user experience but i also want maximum exposure to earn money to pay for the site. I must say i have no experience with google adsense, have used it for a couple of years but never sure where the right places are to put it. here is the page and i would be grateful for your thoughts. i was thinking of moving the top google adsense above the title and replace it with a 300 by 250 box in the middle of the content and either keeping the bottom or moving that to the side. any advice would be great. http://www.cheapflightsgatwick.com/rome-the-ideal-location-for-a-wedding-abroad/

FAQ page to target "long tail keywords".
I'm wondering if there is any benefit to creating a FAQ section on a website for the purpose of ranking for long tail keywords. If so, are there best practices in the way that the page is structured? Also, would doing this just help me rank the FAQ page for these terms or would it also help more critical pages on my website, such as homepage, contact, about, etc... which do not contain these keywords.

Removing and resubmitting an article to another blog
I received a guest post earlier from an SEO company. I have published it, and it's been indexed in Google. Now the person wants me to remove the guest post, probably because they already have a guest post with a link pointing to the same client on my blog. I don't mind removing it, but are their any negative aspects in republishing that same article on another blog? Would it be a mistake to remove that article from my blog?
