Duplicate Websites

What would you do if a competitor had their main domain, and then another domain targeting your local area with the same exact content?
That's currently happening to me, and I'm not sure what I should do about it, if anything:

There isn't really anything you can do to impact this. This is not a good strategy for your competitor, and I'm not even sure how much it could potentially be benefiting them. Google will realize the duplicate content and then serve the page that has a higher authority as the result that actually matters. If I do a search for bozeman chevroletand montana chevy I actually see the Montana Chevy website coming up for it's root domain search, but even when I search the exact match Bozeman Chevrolet it doesn't even come up on the first page. This tells me that Google has established the origin of the content and higher authority domain as the Montana Chevy website. In reality that may be true or false, but that's what Google has decided. If you run OSE reports on both domains you'll see why Google has decided the Montana Chevy is of higher importance because of all the links that point to it.
I would just let your competitor go about doing this, because I don't believe it actually gives them any real benefit.

What would you do if a competitor had their main domain, and then another domain targeting your local area with the same exact content?
This would not bother me at all.
I have seen it a lot over the past ten years. Watching these competitors for that long tells me that duplicate sites usually do not exist on the first page of google for a long time - at least not where there is any serious competition. One of them usually disappears.
What can you do? I would hope that competitor builds identical domain #3.

Duplicate Content In Webmaster Tools
In wordpress on some of our blogs when we have gone to publish them wordpress has shortened the url. In Google webmaster tools the orignal url is coming up as a 404 error. This url is not indexed in Google. Is this something to worry about and can this be avoided? Thank you in advance.

How to Get Rid of Duplicate Content Captured on Article Lists
We have a ton of articles and blog posts on our site. Currently, we display summary lists of articles that contain the first paragraph of the article in the summary list. However, in my reports, this is coming back as duplicate content with the full article itself. How do I fix this? Ex: article main page- http://www.robots.com/articles/10 First article on that page- http://www.robots.com/articles/viewing/grippers-for-robots (which shows up as duplicate content with the main artilce page). With our blogs, we have the most recent 5 blogs (in the same summary format) listed on our main blog page. We then have categories that people can sort by. But again, this is causing us duplicate content because those pages show the first paragraph of the blogs related to that category. Ex: blog main page- http://www.robots.com/blog. First blog listed on that page- http://www.robots.com/blog/viewing/robots-and-automation-bringing-jobs-back-to-the-united-states (which then shows as duplicate content with the main blog page). And then you can also select categories to see related topics: http://www.robots.com/blog/category/buying-a-robot which is showing as duplicate content also. Help! How can I prevent this? Thanks! Is framed content on another domain duplicate content?
I've read a number of articles and am getting opposing answers. I've been checking pages of Photo.net in copyscape for duplicate content. I'm finding a number of domains have the site iframed onto them. I was wondering why copyscape could read the content if the search engines supposedly didn't crawl iframes. Copyscape said Google can read the content. I just want to know if these sites need to remove the iframe (is it hurting Photo.net)? Thanks. Examples: http://www.copyscape.com/?q=http%3A%2F%2Fphoto.net%2Freviews%2F

Does Google penalize for duplicate blog posts?
Occasionally, I get asked by another blogger if they can repost (in full) one of our blog posts on their blog as a guest post. I've always been under the impression that Google penalizes this type of behavior, but I haven't seen any evidence. Is this true?

Duplicate content across multiple e-commerce sites
Hi, This may have been discussed here before though I couldn't find a definitive answer, but I was wondering what the best practice for having multiple e-commerce sites with some of the same products on both is. If Site A has 200 products, and Site B has 300 products, and 50 overlap, do they absolutely have to have unique product descriptions? The descriptions have already been rewritten to be different from the manufacturer's description, but do they need to be changed again? Or should the 50 products only be listed on one site or the other? Sites like csnstores.com seem to have the same descriptions as the subsidiary sites that they have, but maybe they have different sidebars/footers/etc which make the content considered original?

Duplicating Articles/Blogs
Two years ago, some articles and blogs were written and submitted to certain tech and news sites relevant to our field. Will it be fine to submit those to other sites now. It is our content only and not some one else, but would it be penalty to submit the copy to other article sites whereever those articles/content are relevant today also?
