How to track clicks and "impressions" on a certain botton on my website.
-
I would like to track the amount of impressions on all pages in a "sub category" doman.com/subcategory/all-impressions-to-these-pages and clicks to a certain button for a contact form.
I know that I can add snipets to my analytics code but I'm not sure how to and witch snipet to include.
Is it possible?

Yes it is, what you want is called "event tracking" to track clicks or other events, which can now also be set up as a goal in Google Analytics.
This is their guide to the setup.

Track PDF's in Google Analytics
Hi Mozzers, Is it possible to track PDF's via Google Analytics/Google tag manager? I'm not only looking for PDF downloads but for the actual activity when someone opens an interactive PDF document. So would it be possible to have onclick events on buttons in the PDF etc... Many thanks!

Does "not provided" affect the referral traffic data?
There is a discrepancy between what an referring site is showing as clicks back to my site versus what Google Analytics is showing. For example - They are stating that their site sent 100 clicks to my site. The GA data shows 25 referred clicks from that site. Could this be due to the "not provided" that hides most of the keyword data?

Migrated website but Google Analytics still displays old URL's and none new?!
I migrated a website from a .aspx to a .php and hence had to 301 all the old urls to the new php ones. It's been months after and I'm not seeing any of the php pages showing results but I'm still getting results from the old .aspx pages. Has any one had any experience with this issue or knows what to do? Many thanks,

Custom URL tracking for paid online ads
Hello! Our marketing team is testing paid online ad networks (banner ads, mobile ads and video ads) this year in addition to some traditional television advertising. We would like to track how effective these various ads are, and I'm wondering the best method to do so. In all cases, we're not setting up new pages for these ads to go to. They will simply go to an existing page on our site. For tracking purposes, here's what I'm wondering... If we set up custom URLs on our site (e.g. www.example.com/sports) then have the visitor immediately redirected to the intended page on our site (typically our home page), will Google Analytics show that custom URL in any report to see how much traffic flowed through it? Or will it not register because a page doesn't really exist for that URL? The biggest issue is with the banner ad network, which targets around ten categories of sites (sports, moms, entertainment, etc.). I know I'll be able to find the network listed as a referrer to see the total traffic the network sent us, but we would like to know specifically which category drove the visits. As such, would a custom URL for each category work, or will Google Analytics not pick it up because it's not hitting an actual page? For television ads, we are showing our URL as www.example.com/tv, which would then redirect to the intended landing page. In this case, it's a little more challenging because I won't have the referrer traffic to go by. But same problem... will GA recognize that URL and show it in Behavior > Site Content > All Pages? I hope this makes sense. If not please let me know and I'll try to explain. Thanks in advance,

How can I use Google Analytics to detect users viewing my website on a TV?
I want to see in Google Analytics whether or not people are viewing my website on a TV, such as with a smart TV or other device connected to their TV. These are the only ways to do this that I have found so far: Operating system: Google TV, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, Xbox Browser: Nintendo Browser, Playstation 3 Are there other data points that I can reliably use to segment these users?

Subdomain tracking codes on subdomain and not root
Afternoon all. I’m pretty sure this is going to be fine but I thought I would seek some confirmation before I action anything. We have a blog subdomain on our site, I have just noticed that the entire blog (built in Wordpress) has no analytics tracking code on it. As this is built in Wordpress I have just logged in on an admin account I think people forgot I had and added the code to the header section as it is a two second job. My question is this – On the main account, subdomain tracking has not been turned on, so the root domain has not got the additional _gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'rootdomain.co.uk']); line of code in it. I have included this on the blog.rootdomain.co.uk code as is necessary to enable tracking. Will this work or cause tracking issues? I think it should be ok. I don’t want to have to update the root domain code if I can avoid it as that will need to go through the development team and may take weeks as they are swamped and under resourced. Thanks, Rich.
