Trying to avoid Keyword Cannibalization
-
I have a navigation menu at the top of my page with drop down menus that lead to different pages of my web site. Very typical navigation.
If I have a page that is optimized for a particular keyword, lets say "Awesome Blue Widgets", do I want to remove that link from the navigation menu on the page awesome-blue-widgets.htm since the link uses the keyword phrase "Awesome Blue Widgets'?
-
No, I would not recommend that. Keyword cannibalization becomes an issue when you have multiple pages on your site that target or focus on the same exact keyword phrase which results in pages competing with each other.
-
I would not do such worrying over the Keyword Cannibalization issue.
If you have multiple pages in the SERPs for a certain keyword is that not a wonderful thing? IMO it is a sign that you are kickingass.
-
Is it pointing at the exact same page you are on? If so, you are fine.

A Solution to Keywords Being Grouped in Google Keyword Planner
Hi guys, I am trying to get search traffic for a list of keywords which I put together a few years ago for one of my clients, this was before Google made changes to their Keyword Planner. When I am adding the list into Google Keyword Planner it is "grouping" a number of the keywords/phrases together, and therefore removing 13 of the keywords from the original list of 59 keywords. Is there a way around this so I can get search volume for the original list, and not the cut down one? I am specifically using Google Keyword Planner as I want to get search volume for a number of specific locations in the UK. Any comments/feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Jack. How to choose keywords for a small, local business
I have a client who is a small, local business that isn't interested in competing outside of their market. Let's use a Toyota dealership in Anytown USA as an example. Which method makes more sense? A: Optimize for keywords like "toyota", "used cars", etc. and hope the search engines show the site to local users? Or B: Optimize for keywords like "toyota anytown" and "used cars anytown" and take localization out of the equation? Kind of a newbie trying to figure out how best to approach SEO for sites that are highly geographic.

Conducting Keyword Research in "Other than English"
I haven't done my homework on this, so I'd like to ask, if I am interested in launching a website in multiple languages. Let's say an Urdu version (that will have different content) of our English News website then how do I conduct some keyword research for popular keywords used by people searching the net in Urdu. Furthermore, how can I get an estimate of how many people are actually using the web in a particular language and from which geographical regions? Cheers!
