Some thoughts on MozTrust based on OSE Findings X ref'd with SERPS
-
I've been doing a bit of competitor analysis for a client using OSE.
There are a group of about 4 websites (our clients website included) that all dominate the sector with none of the 4 clearly out in front (call this GROUP A).
Then there are another group of about 5 websites, which come lower in the SE's consistently than the top 4 (Call this GROUP B)
**I've been doing some analysis in OSE: **
ALL GROUP B Websites outrank all of GROUP A websites in the OSE Metrics (Including Trust Rank).
I did some analysis on the backlinks in Group A VS Group B
Group A - Generally a mixture of ok links from blog posts, sponsorship, and ok directories.
Group B - As A, but with fewer numbers of links from quality blogs PLUS A high level of spammy links ( .edu and .gov spam filled pages), very low quality, almost non legible blog posts on MFA sites (think Digital Point sellers).
From the above it is clear that the OSE metrics are out of whack with the real SE results. Clearly OSE has a few problems with working out what are spammy links and what are decent. Obviously google also has issues with working this out, so I am not surprised that OSE also does - but that doesn't solve the issue.
This is a general discussion - so I would just throw in a few thoughts on how OSE may possibly try are overcome some of these issues :
1/. % Trust Links vs Non trust Links:
Add in a metric to Trust Rank where the number of links close to trusted sites are also compared to the number of links not close to trusted sites. If you see a very high ratio of links from sites that are not close to trusted sites, it is a strong indicator of spammy links.2/. Use seed "Non Trusted" sites to create a negative Trust Rank
Use something like a reverse of the "trusted sites" theory, but taking a load of very clearly spammy / link manipulative sites and work out in terms of links connections how far the site is away from these sites.Thoughts???

Unsolved How to find keywords your competitors rank for but you don't?
Hi, I'm just digging through Moz pro at the moment, and really like the true competitor feature, but would like to be able to see the keywords our competitors rank for and we don't, rather than just the overlapping ones. Is this possible at all? Thanks

I have 702 'No-Index' warnings. Is this bad?
Moz has giving me 702 'No-Indexed Meta-descriptions' warnings. My page has quite a bit of product pages as it is a commercial chemical company which sells cleaning products for restaurants, hospitals, etc. Im wondering if this is effecting my site negatively?

Problems with csv file from OSE
Hello Support, I have problems with the formatting of csv files from OSE in Excel. I got lines that only contain -- and these lines break up the data. It is possible to correct this manually but a bit annoying if you have 1500+ links generated in the file. I work a lot with csv files from other tools and programs and those give me no problems. Can you help me out please? Greetings Rob

SeoMoz reporting 301 redirects I can't find
So I'm trying to find a bunch of redirects that SeoMoz is reporting that were created by Wordpress but I can't seem to find. I'm finding a bunch of redirects FROM pages like this: www.mysite.com/wp-content/themes/mimbo/page-name.com redirecting to www.mysite.com/page-name.com Anybody have any idea how I can track down the offending page that has a link to that url. I took a look at my templates and content with the pages and can't seem to find anything that would create it.

What's with measuring search rank?
Okay, here 6 different ways to measure search rank on Google U.S. and I get 6 different answers: Looking for search term "Lunch Bags" for the site Zappos (just a random example - no connection to me). SEOMOZ RankTracker - #49 SEOCentro - #36 http://www.seocentro.com/tools/search-engines/keyword-position.html ZendProxy.com - #21 (an anonymizer proxy) anonymouse.org - no rank (another anonymizer) Mikes Marketing Tools - no rank http://www.mikes-marketing-tools.com/ranking-reports/ RankingCheck.com - #38 Can you duplicate a similar variation? What gives? Which if any of these would you rely on? Thanks... Darcy

I've tried everything, and my blog still falling
Hello everyone! 🙂 I'm almost desperate, and trying to find a solution to one of my blogs. Below is it URL: http://www.xboxplus.net/ It has more than 3 years, and even so I get just around 700-1000 visitors a day. I have already applied several SEO techniques, tried several SEO plugins, tried to work with keywords, etc, but nothing changes. I see several other sites and blogs of the same niche (games), with much less content (I have more than 3800 articles, in 3 years), practicing plagiarism, stealing content, etc, and with much more visitors and revenue. I have never done nothing wrong. Never stole content. I always worked honestly, and always tried to write articles with "something more". I really don't know what happens with XboxPlus.net . And, how can, for example, Seomoz helps me, here? I would be very grateful for any help. 😄

Crawl Diagnostics Shows thousands of 302's from a single url. I'm confused
Hi guys I just ran my first campaign and the crawl diagnostics are showing some results I'm unfamiliar with.. In the warnings section it shows 2,838 redirects.. this is where I want to focus. When I click here it shows 5 redirects per page. When I go to click on page 2, or next page, or any other page than page 1 for that matter... this is where things get confusing. Nothing shows. Downloading the csv reveals that 2,834 of these are all showing: URL: http://www.mydomain.com/401/login.php url: http://www.mydomain.com/401/login.php referrer: http://www.mydomain.com/401/login.php location_header: http://www.mydomain.com/401/login.php I guess I'm just looking for an explanation as to why it's showing so many to the same page and what possible actions can be taken on my part to correct it (if needed). Thanks in advance
