Where to place your brandname in your URL?
-
Hello everybody! Quick and short question:
What is better when you want to rank for your your brandname?
www.jobsbrandname.com or www.brandnamejobs.com
I think for SEO it's better to use the last one but marketing has the wish to use the first one.
Thanks for your responce!

I don't think it matters much which order if you're talking about the SEO benefit of where the keyword is.
To me, it just makes more logical sense to choose www.companynamejobs.com from an English language standpoint. If my choice was between "SEOmozjobs.com" and "jobsSEOmoz.com" I would choose the first one (although they both look a little like spam to me, which is why I still think using a subfolder is better)

Im sorry that my question is not very clear! The situation at this moment is that we are the owner of www.companyname.com. The clean up the first ten results we want to start a job website.
What is better? www.jobscompanyname.com or www.companynamejobs.com if you want to score on the keyword (companyname)?

I don't think that I completely understand the question. Are there multiple existing websites? Can you give me a more specific example or description of what the question here is?

Hi Jeffrey,
Do you have a recommendation for this question? Goal is to "clean up" the first results with own websites. That's the reason to start it on a new domainname. The brandname is already our domain.
Thanks!

If you really own that brand shouldn't your URL be brandname.com?

I'm curious to know more about what the purpose of this domain is before making too many recommendations.
But are you trying to create a separate site for job listings for your brand? If that's the case, keep it on the same domain and use brandname.com/jobs or jobs.brandname.com
This will make the most sense if you already have a site for your domain name : i.e. brandname.com

The last one would be better with the keyword being in the beginning but either on should be fine if you follow up with a title format capitalizing on the brandname i.e. BRAND NAME | OTHER TARGETED KEYWORDS

Same URL names in one domain
Hi All, I have 9 different subdirectories for languages in the same domain example: www.example.com/page.html www.example.com/uk/page-uk.html www.example.com/es/page-es.html we are implementing hreflang tags for the languages. I know it is better to translate URLs, but we won't for now, because all the NON-ASCII characters. But we are thinking to get rid of the dashes on the languages URL: -uk or -es, so it will be: www.example.com/page.html www.example.com/uk/page.html www.example.com/es/page.hrml would this be a problem? to have same page names even if they are in different subdirectories? would we need to add canonical tags, at least for the main domain URLs? www.example.com/page.html Thank you, Rachel

Migration to new URL structure
Hi guys, Just wondering what your processes are when moving a large site to a completely new URL structure on the same domain. Do you 301 everything from old page to new page, or are your more selective - i.e. only 301 pages that have a certain page authority, for example. Thanks!

Changing URL of posts
HI, I need to change the urls and permalink structure of my blogposts. How I have to deal all this with google? Do I have to re-submit the pages to google with fetch as google? Will google display duplicate content of the same article ( having changed the url) or will it automatically replace the old url with the new ones? Tx for your support guys!

Google Search Results Display URL
Our urls show as www.domain.com/getproduct.aspx?productid=48376 (url #1) in Google search results. When you click on the link and go to the site the URL is www.domain.com/product-name.aspx (url #2) I checked in Google Webmaster Tools (Fetch as Google) and there is a 302 redirect from url #1 to url #2. It also shows a Set-Cookie value, ASP.NET_SessionID= If we make it a 301 redirect instead, will the url displayed in Google search results be the url #2? We need to get rid of the Set-Cookie for crawlers correct?

Slashes In Url's
If your cms has created two urls for the same piece of content that look like the following, www.domianname.com/stores and www.domianname.com/stores/, will this be seen as duplicate content by google? Your tools seem to pick it up as errors. Does one of the urls need 301 to the other to clear this up, or is it not a major problem? Thanks.
