Is it Better to Link to an Article or Post it on my Site?
-
I have a client who has a few articles written about her and posted on different news-related sites.
She has asked me to capture these articles (we have permission) and create a section on her site for them.
My question is this...
From an SEO standpoint, would it be better to link _to the _articles, post them on her site or both? Or, maybe there's an even better way I'm not thinking of.
Your advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kirk

An author who is an authority for a topic area should have a site that is THE BIBLE for that topic.
When your client's work is viewed on another website some of those visitors might visit your client's site to obtain more information. So instead of displaying duplicate your client should have additional, supplemental, more detailed, case studies, examples. Knock their socks off.
Use the satellite content as invitations to view more and impress them when they arrive.

There is nothing wrong with linking out to examples of how other websites are helping her spread the word about her expertise or her message. The problem that might arise is that these other sites might be more powerful and her content on their domain might outrank her for important income-producing keywords.

Great Amie,
I can see you and Nakul agree about the duplicate content issue. I appreciate your insight.

Thanks Nakul,
I think my client (a doctor in NYC) wants to establish authority in her field using these articles.
I was just trying to make sure we aren't missing out on an opportunity to boost her ranking with these articles. But, I certainly don't want to create a duplicate content issue.
Since some articles are reproduced all over the Internet many, many times, I didn't think reproducing an article about her once would be a problem. Do you really think it would be?
Thanks

I'm with Nakul that you definitely do not want to just copy the articles. You don't want to nudge into duplicate content if you don't have to - even if you have permission, the search crawlers won't know that.
From a purely user experience POV I would create a page with some great design elements that includes excerpts of her posts with links to the full articles. And if she has been syndicated by big names, I would include their logos on the page. This will instantly build trust for her via her samples.
And when you use excerpts with additional fresh content you won't need to worry about dup content issues.

You might want to think about it a a little bit more and see how it all fits in your marketing strategy. The recommendation is definitely to just link to the articles. The question is, where to link it from ?
Also, the question is whether you would want to pass link juice from your website to those pages?
As far as reproducing the content, that's definitely a no-no in my opinion, since you are then signing up to duplicate content issues.

Linking to the same sites from more than one of my sites, is this bad?
If I work for a company that has more than one website within the same industry and we have separate websites within that industry. An example would be: CarLoans.com HomeLoans.com & PersonalLoans.com The only difference from this example is that we are a B2B Company. My question is: is it bad to acquire links from the same external websites for multiple websites that we own and want to rank for? If I establish a relationship with Forbes or some other website and I can get links to several of our sites, will it ever be bad to link to all of our websites from this one website. I am asking not just for high domain authority website like Forbes, but also for websites that may have a DA in the 30's 40's and 50's as well. Thank you

Question concerning a freelance article link
Hey fellow Mozzers,
Link Building | | MountainMedia
I was performing a link audit for a client and came across a link linking to a deep page for our client with the link being anchored to a targeted keyword. It's a freelance article that is well written and deals with our client's industry but indirectly. The page has no PR but decent PA and DA. My question is, is there the possibility that Penguin would consider it spammy? The link is located in the author tagline at the bottom of the article. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks!0 -
Links from highly relevant but low Domain Authority sites: Yes or No?
We're reaching out to companies that we have a business relationship with (past and present) to find out if they would be interested in linking to us.

All are obviously in the same industry so highly relevant. But some of the sites are low in Domain Authority (with scores of about 15-25).
Should we also ask these sites -- or avoid them?0 -
I am getting links on people's wordpress blogs but are not showing up on the just discovered tool. Is it true that wordpress links are no-follow links that do give off any link-juice?
A blogger told me that "wordpress.com does not allow blogs to show advertisements or use links to sites that sell merchandise of any kind" is this true? Am i wasting my outreach time trying to get links from wordpress operated blogs?

Does Open Site Explorer show juice passing links
I'm a little confused between all the link types. Internal / External - easy Linking Root Domain - easy Followed / No followed - easy But then there's talk about "juice passing links" and I can't quite get how this is defined, and why it's something you can get from the API, but not from Open Site Explorer... or can you get that info from OSE?

1 million links can harm your site?
I have a client that bought a link for his site on a non related site with the anchor text for main KW. That site brought over 1 million links to my client's site. Now what should i do? Should i let the link there? Or should i remove it? The age of the link is more than 1 year, and the link is placed in top menu, under the header.

Soliciting articles and allowing author links?
We are trying to build up article content on our website, and are looking at soliciting fresh articles from authors on various subjects, and in turn give them an author link back to their website or blog in exchange for writing the article. Our website has massive traffic so this would be a good thing for the author. My question is this: If I put a couple of anchor text links into the article, having them pointed at various pages on my site, and then allow the author to link back to his site, will I lose the link love in the anchor text? Or does it depend on the number of anchor links I have? Like 3 to 1 type ratio.

Do you get linkjuice from a dofollow redirect (Like Yahoo! Article links)?
I've recently hired a company that publishes my press releases for me. One of them is on Yahoo! Finance. When I went to the Yahoo article, my keyword link was dofollow, but had a very long Yahoo redirect link instead of just a direct link to my page. Am I still getting link juice out of this Yahoo redirect?
