Duplicate index.php/webpage pages on website. Help needed!
-
Hi Guys,
Having a really frustrating problem with our website. It is a Joomla 1.7 site and we have some duplicate page issues.
What is happening is that we have a webpage, lets say domain.com/webpage1 and then we also have domain.com/index.php/webpage1.
Google is seeing these as duplicate pages and is causing me some real SEO problems. I have tried setting up a 301 redirect but it wn't let me redirect /index.php/webpage1 to /webpage1.
Anyone have any ideas or plugins that can be used to sort this out?
Any help will be really appreciated!
Matt.

I have now solved the problem. Thank God!
Just in case anyone is aving the same probllem, I used the following Joomla! plugin to generate the canonical links:

Hi Justin,
Thanks for that. I have been trying to find a plugin that will work to do the canonical URLs for Joomla 1.7 and having real problems. Ideally, I want a free plugin as well. The one in the blog post you sent is a paid one, and that is just for SEF URLs and doesn't do the canonical tag.
Thanks all the same though.
Matt.

Hi Matthew,
Have you tried using a rel="canonical" link? Have not tried these using Joomla, but a search on google has brought up this article that talks about using it.
You can also find out information about what a canonical link is and when to use it here:-

hope this helps

Only fraction of the AMP pages are indexed
Back in June, we had seen a sharp drop in traffic on our website. We initially assumed that it was due to the Core Update that was rolled out in early June. We had switched from http to https in May, but thought that should have helped rather than cause a problem. Until early June the traffic was trending upwards. While investigating the issue, I noticed that only a fraction (25%) of the AMP pages have been indexed. The pages don't seem to be getting indexed even though they are valid. Accordingly to Google Analytics too, the percentage of AMP traffic has dropped from 67-70% to 40-45%. I wonder if it is due to the indexing issue. In terms of implementation it seems fine. We are pointing canonical to the AMP page from the desktop version and to the desktop version from the AMP page. Any tips on how to fix the AMP indexing issue. Should I be concerned that only a fraction of the AMP pages are indexed. I really hope you can help in resolving this issue.

Home page duplicate content...
Hello all! I've just downloaded my first Moz crawl CSV and I noticed that the home page appears twice - one with an appending forward slash at the end: http://www.example.com

http://www.example.com/ For any of my product and category pages that encounter this problem - it's automatically resolved with a canonical tag. Should I create the same canonical tag for my home page? rel="canonical" href="http://www.example.com" />0 -

It's built on Concrete 5 CMS I'm noticing a ton of duplicate page errors (9530 to be exact). I'm looking at the issues and it looks like it is being caused by the CMS. For instance the home page seems to be duplicating.. http://www.cryopak.com/en/
http://www.cryopak.com/en/?DepartmentId=67
http://www.cryopak.com/en/?DepartmentId=25
http://www.cryopak.com/en/?DepartmentId=4
http://www.cryopak.com/en/?DepartmentId=66 Do you think this is an issue? Is their anyway to fix this issue? It seems to be happening on every page. Thanks Jim0 -
Http:// to https:// 301 or 302 redirect
I've read over the Q & A in the Community, but am wondering the reasoning behind this issue. I know - 301's are permanent and pass links, and 302s are temporary (due to cache) and don't pass links. But, I've run across two sites now that 302 redirect http:// to https://. Is there a valid reason behind this? From my POV and research, the redirect should 301 if it's permanent, but is there a larger issue I am missing?

Duplicate Titles on Wordpress blog pages
Hi, I have an issue where I am getting for duplicate page titles for pages that shouldn't exist. The issue is on the blog index page's (from 0 - 16) and involves the same set of attachment_id for each page, i.e. /blog/page/10/?attachment_id=minack /blog/page/10/?attachment_id=ponyrides /blog/page/11/?attachment_id=minack /blog/page/11/?attachment_id=ponyrides There are 6 attachment_id values (and they are not ID values either) which repeat for every page on the index now what I can't work out is where those 6 links are coming from as on the actual blog index page http://www.bosinver.co.uk/blog/page/10/ there are no links to it and the links just go to blog index page and it ignores the attachment_id value. There is no sitemap.xml file either which I thought might have contained the links. Thanks

Do Collections in Shopify create Duplicate Pages according to Google/Bing/Yahoo?
I'm using the e-commerce platform Shopify to host an e-store. We've put our products into different collections. Shopify automatically creates different URL paths to a product in multiple collections. I'm worried that the same product listed in different collections is soon as different pages, and therefore duplicate content by Google/Bing/Yahoo. Would love to get your opinion on this concern! Thanks! Matthew
