Pros and Cons for Paying for Guest Posts?
-
While searching for outreach targets I came across a site that charges $100 to post your infographic with a review. I think this is similar to someone that says "Sure, I'll publish your guest post. First, please send me $100."
I'm curious what others think about the practice of paying for guest posts? (It seems like it could easily be lumped in with paid links from Google's point of view).

I think that such a practice can be quite good if you do it well and if you have a good product or site to be reviewed. You don't even need such platforms to do that. We call it Blogger outreach campaign:
-
Simply shortlist a few hundreds (or even less) of good blogs in the industry and market you want to focus on.
-
Think of a what offer you can give to them. Money most probably won't work. You can incentivise them with an affiliate offer or something really touchy and personal. Put that in your email to them or on their contact us forms or call them.
You will see that most of the guys will reply and will be happy to cooperate. This works much better than any platform if you are going for the quality links not for the quantity.

Are you guest blogging for the audience or for SEO purposes (backlinks)?
If it's for the audience (lets say they got 10,000 plus one buddies, 20,000 fb friends and 40,000 twitter followers) your link in the guest post goes to your website where a massive resource on the subject is available, signup boxes and all that stuff.
If it is to this level then a 'few' paid guest posts are fine, especially if the blogs main income is not the money coming in for charging for guest posts.
For example if smashing magazine charged for guest posts (maybe the cost of admin, half hour reading it formatting it, reading it again putting it up etc) there is a cost there for the time on smashing magazines part.
I think the paid stuff is when you do it in bulk, $5 for a link and you buy 100 of them.

if its cnn then its worth it if you get my drift.

I could see paying to guest blog on the right site as being more effective than starting your own under certain circumstances.
If you have a "message to get out" then this is the fastest way to gain an audience. You picked the correct words.... "on the right site".
And, the workers at that site will have to handle your content, place it on a page, link it into their internal navigation and then pay the bandwidth and storage fees. There is no guarantee that they will get any return so they charge you up front.
-
Would you pay to post good content on a site relevant to your audience that has good domain authority to boot? Depends on the site and depends on the content.
We don't charge our guest bloggers (yochicago.com), but we vet them pretty heavily - they need to contribute something to our audience. But we do blog on behalf of sponsors - and since we're doing the writing - it's always relevant (to some degree at least). Our readers comment on our (clearly identified) sponsored content's relevance occasionally, but generally understand that someone has to pay the bills. It's a pretty effective means of advertising / editorial / authority-building in one.

Sounds like a paid link to me also. If you can somehow ascertain that this is not some spammy site I suppose you may want to do the math and figure on cost / benefit. If you're doing your own writing etc. I would just as well post to other sites that are free - but that's me. I'm sure you'll get many opinions and I'd be interested in hearing from those that would pay to post.

Blog post back link
Hi, I am new to SEO and I am planning to hire someone in Fiverr regularly to submit different guest posts on the different related topic on the website with a good domain authority (>60) as a result to have some quality inbound links. As I am writing the guest post myself, May I know how many backlinks should I have per post are best for SEO? and should I only focus on anchor text backlinks? Also, here is my understanding of what I should be careful when hiring someone on Fiverr to do a blog post, please let me know if I am wrong and if there is another thing I need to be careful. It needs to be dofollow link It is permanent I check the website domain authority and spam sore that the person provides before using it. Please let me know if I missed out something. Appreciated Kind regards Chris

Can I include "commissioned" posts in my link building strategy?
Ok "Commissioned Posts" meaning industry influencers/bloggers etc writing about your brand, products or services and possibly "linking" to your website (in exchange for money, or not) a) I'm contacted by a blogger who wants to write a piece about our product and naturally links back. b) A blogger says, yes, we can write a fantastic article about your brand and link to you for $$$..$ - is this ok if not at scale? What is deemed as ethical? I want to make sure our link building campaign is done within Google's guidelines. Here is currently what we are doing, or intending to do; 1. We're producing unique content on our site and sharing this with key influencers organically on Twitter, Facebook and G+ communities. This so far is working well for a new start up. 2. Writing guest posts on authoritative sites (with only our author bio at the bottom, branded link to our site, social links) sharing knowledge or interesting content which readers will want to read. Sites like HuffPost, The Guardian would be great although we're starting on authoritative well maintained blogger sites within the industry to begin. 3. Reaching out to industry influencers who may like to review our products. Many of them have got back to me stating that they "can" run commissioned posts (normally requires a large fee) which carries a followed link, branded or unbranded. Although we may have initially contacted them, and money could be exchanged, in the eyes of Google wouldn't this appear as a natural post? Please let me know your thoughts on this? It would be great to gain more of an understanding exactly what I can or cannot do when it comes to developing high quality links for our business! Your feedback (sharing any examples if possible) would be truly appreciated. Thanks Gary

Will our website traffic be adversely affected by Google by allowiing other sites to post our content on their sites?
Hi, We're a radio station posting original content each day. We belong to a sector of similar radio stations. It's been proposed that we all contribute content to this group

so any radio station can grab this content and post it on their own websites. As the site with the most content and web traffic, could this potentially harm us?1 -
UK Times Pay wall effect on links?
Hi all Our PR agency has obtained a few inbound links from the UK's Times website. This is a great website with a very high DA, however they have a pay wall. My question is does the paywall counteract the efficacy of the links into our site? It would be good to know because if they aren't having the desired effect on rankings then I'll ask our PR agency to focus their efforts on other national newsapers. Thanks

Paying for a Link
I realize it is bad to pay for a link but is it bad to pay for a link on a page that ranks you 1 to 10 againist your competitor, shows a screen shot of your and lists Pros and Cons of your site? Is this sort of paid link different somehow?

Sales agents posting job listings
So we are in the middle of a hiring blitz looking for sales agents in different areas of the country. One of our internal sales agents used a program called Job-a-matic which appears to be a product developed or sponsored by SimplyHired. This software seems to have put our job posting on a lot strange sites really unrelated to our industry and they job description such as: truck driver jobs teen jobs white collar jobs jobs a go-go database admin jobs medical coding and many many more When I Google our company name I see all of these listing on pages 3, 4, 5 etc . Is it possible that Google may see these listings as spammy or paid links? It appears as if these listing were just automatically generated and not really controlled in anyway. I'm worried that they could have generated a penalty as we did experience a significant drop in traffic. Thanks -Brandon

What benefit does a site with a low DA get from someone guest posting who links to a site with a high DA?
I'm relatively new to link building and although this may be an obvious question I can't seem to find an answer anywhere even after searching Google.

Should we BackLink to Guest Post ?
Hi, I have been actively doing guest blogging for last few weeks . But the page authority , moz Rank and moz Trust of my guest posts appear 0 as those posts have their own pages on blogs with snippets of posts on home page. I wanted to ask if i should backlink to my guest posts to increase the authority, mR and mT of pages. Those posts are already appearing as backlinks in webmaster tools but if i backlink to my posts to increase mR and mT, then will it also increase the juice passed by backlinks in those posts to landing pages on my site ? Thanks,
