If you use the link LAA to do a google search for directories to submit to, is there any correlation to how high they show up on google and how much they will help your site?

Thanks for the reply Frank. I thought there wern't any videos when I first looked, thanks for clearing that up
I'll go and watch the videos now.

That would go hand in hand with what is discussed in the 2 videos I just linked in the above answer (which I edited in afterwards, so you may have missed them before). Definitely I'd recommend watching both of the videos. I believe they'll help answer a good number of your questions.

hi frank,
THanks for such an indepth reply. If I cant get a link of the page in question, what do you think to the idea of looking at a link pages PA and the number of outgoing links on the link page?
-
Hi Peter,
The answer would be both yes, and no.
If the directory is ranking high on the Google SERP then it stands to reason that the page and domain in question likely have good ranking metrics and signals. If that is the case then there is a good chance it could be a strong link to help your site.
However, here is where the "no" part of the answer comes in to play. It would depend where the link is actually being placed on the site. If the link is not going to be on the exact page that you're landing on from the SERP page, then you aren't getting the entire story. You would have to do some digging around to be able to fully understand which page the link is going to be placed on, and what the metrics of that page are.
Depending on where the link would end up, the #6 result on the SERP could actually provide a stronger link for you than the #1 result. Other things to take into consideration of course are topic relation between your page and the linking page, and the amount of total links on any given linking page.
I'd suggest watching the following recent Whiteboard Friday videos, if you haven't already. They can help you better evaluate the potential link value from individual pages and/or sites.

Internal Linking - Post links vs Side Bar Links behaving differently
Hi, I have a question regarding the internal linking behavior. My website is www.hindimeaning.com which is approx 3 years old. I have approx 450 posts. Now i have a widget on right sidebar "Popular posts". A widget below my posts "Related Posts". And a simple html CSS menu above the posts (I removed menu around 6 month before so currently it will not show.) I crawled my site with moz crawler (same are the result from google crawler as well) and it shows menus links as internal links. While sidebar widget "Popular posts" and "Related Posts" are not showing as internal links. If we talk theoretically what i learn till now is "every link on a page behaves as internal link". Then why the widget links are not showing as internal links. Thanks, Mahesh Kumar

Thoughts on creating a resource/recommend links page in order to attain links?
Hey guys, Just wondering, how does Google view reciprocal link building nowadays? I've heard in the past that it's something that Google isn't particularly keen on. However, more recently, I've also read that - as long as the links are decent (and in moderation) - link exchanging is by no means a bad thing. The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of creating a "resource/recommended links page" for a client of mine. Because of their industry, it's really apparent that attaining links is often only possible if there is the opportunity of a reciprocal link in return. Therefore, I'd need to have a resource/recommend links page of my own. Is this something I should go ahead with to make it much easier to attain links? Or should I try to avoid reciprocal links and attempt to pinpoint one-way linking opportunities - even if they're thin on the ground? Any help much as appreciated as always. Cheers.

Zemanta for Links and Traffic
Has anyone used Zemanta for their clients. Would appreciate feedback on their service. What got our attention was the sales guy using Rand's testimonial below in their email signature. _"I'm not just a fan, I'm a believer — Zemanta is a remarkable way to build great links." _

No inbound links ?
Hello I just got SeoMoz, started the whole thing and compared myself to my competitor. I'm writing for mayor national newspapers in latin america, been featured a few major sites, and got a whole lot of links directing to muy site. I recently moved domains about a month ago from rxmagaizne.mx to rxmagazine.co. Is this the reason i'm not seeing any links ? ibIPY.png

Buy links
I know that many of you are against the whole thing with buying links. Your feelings put aside. Will it be better for my site to buy links or even do link exchange? Haven´t the crawlers been thought by now how to find these untrue links? I have read somewhere that the stop after 100 links, aren´t they smarter than that?

Total Links vs Ext. Followed Links
Hi I'm fairly new to SEO and SEOMOZ. I've created a campaign for my own site and I've added 3 competitor sites. There are 1,385 total links to my site and a massive 49,450 links to one of my competitor's site. However under "Ext. Followed Links", there are 1,045 to my site and only 911 to the same competitor site. Am I correct that it is the "Ext. Followed Links" which are more important from an SEO point of view as the other links have the "no follow" attribute set? Or have I got this wrong? Thanks James

Link Location: In main page or inner "Link" page?
My question is what´s best of Link Building: have it in main page or in internal Link Pages. I have the problem that have to reduce the number of outgoing links in my mainpage to rank better, but do not want to miss any linkjuice. How Linking in Main Page or Internal Pages affects SERP for your website? And should they be Follow or not Follow? Thanks in advance Maria Jesus
