Are asp redirects permanent?
-
I need to redirect a windows-hosted domain with permanent (301) redirects so as to preserve most of the link juice.
I would be using asp page-level redirects, as there are only about 50 relevant pages.
Are these as effective as linux-based 301 redirects in conserving link juice?

Follow up question --- not sure if I understand the entire situation discussed above, but I have a situation where a site that was ASP.net has been replaced with a WordPress site. I've performed a Open Link analysis and found that most of the old pages, ie
www.i3bus.com/ProductCategorySummary.aspx?ProductCategoryId=63
are returning a HTTP Status = NO DATA ... when followed ends up at the 404 catch-all page.
I'd like to perform 301 redirects and wondering if your solution above applies?
Thanks for any help.

Yes, they are! You need to do it like this:
<%@ Language=VBScript %>
<%
' Permanent redirection
Response.Status = "301 Moved Permanently"
Response.AddHeader "Location", "http://www.example.com/"
Response.End
%>If you use Response.Redirect instead of Response.Status, it won't return a 301 (permanent redirect) header, it will return a 302 (temporary redirect) header instead.
Other permanent redirect methods are PHP, ColdFusion, Perl, and mod_rewrite. JavaScript and meta tag redirects cannot send a 301 status code.
Hope this helps!

Htaccess redirects
Annoyingly it's time to play with this beast again. I've been given the task of doing the following. Keeping the homepage live Redirecting categories to the specific categories on the new site Catch all redirects Now i've managed to setup the specific categories and the catch all redirects, however I am unsure how to keep the homepage live (which is like this:www.domain.com/ so I can't just exclude that?) Would appreciate any help.

Redirect to a new domain and seo effects
I created a one page blogger with listing of several affiliated websites. It gained some visibility on google but it was very plain so i decided to create a wordpress more complex and fancy and to reach the top of search positions. At the moment i decided to keep the listing on blogger and add some links on the page saying "i've moved to a new website. click for more info" and it redirects to my page. But i dont get many clicks to my new site so i was thinking to maybe create a full redirect from my blogger to my wordpress or a iframe to fetch the wordpress but im afraid it may hurt my seo on my blogger. what should i do? thanks in advance

How should I set up a domain redirect
A client has 2 domains that he wants to use for the same site. At the moment one domain is just an abbreviation of the main domain (not sure why) as follows: www.mygreatpropertycompany.com

www.mgpc.com (just redirects to the above) He is complaining that when he searches for 'mpc' there are no results (at all) so I'm wondering what the best approach is.There is currently nothing on the main domain that refers to 'mgpc' in it's abbreviated sense - the only place it's being used is the company's email addresses ([email protected]). The redirect is simply a html file in the root of www.mgpc.com as follows: Is there anything I can do to help him out? (this is one of those 'doing a friend a favour' tasks!) Thanks!0 -
How do find where a 301 redirect is located
My report says I have http://www.30minuteseder.com/Passover.blog redirected to http://30minuteseder.com/Passover.blog. It is correct, but I can't find where the 301 redirect is located. I looked in my .htaccess file in the root and it's not there. How do I find it so I can change it?

301 Redirect Questions
I have a site I built on a wisiwig editing platform that will not allow a 301 redirect. The site has already been remade and I need to point it to another domain. To do the redirect, can I change it to another domain host that will allow a 301 or will that make me loose the authority of the site? I may not be able to move the content of the site. Please help.

Domain redirect seo
Hello, my domain www.pacomarca.com and when i start the new campaing i get this pronblem: We have detected that the domain www.pacomarca.com and the domain pacomarca.com both respond to web requests and do not redirect. Having two "twin" domains that both resolve forces them to battle for SERP positions, making your SEO efforts less effective. We suggest redirecting one, then entering the other here. my domain is in networksolutions.com. how can i resolve it? many thanks Gonzalo
