Duplicate content issue with dynamically generated url
-
Hi,
For those who have followed my previous question, I have a similar one regarding dynamically generated urls.
From this page http://www.selectcaribbean.com/listing.html the user can make a selection according to various criteria. 6 results are presented and then the user can go to the next page.
I know I should probably rewrite url's such as these: http://www.selectcaribbean.com/listing.html?pageNo=1&selType=&selCity=&selPrice=&selBeds=&selTrad=&selMod=&selOcean=
but since all the results presented are basically generated on the fly for the convenience of the user, I am afraid google my consider this as an attempt to generate more pages as there are pages for each individual listing.
What is my solution for this? Nofollow these pages? Block them thru robots txt?

When I looked at your site, changing the criteria changed the listings on the page, so each page was unique. However, I'm guessing 100% of the listings can be accessed by just clicking through the pages of results without changing the criteria?
If you decide the best approach is to block the different versions of search results pages, I would consider using the canonical meta tag to specify the canonical (main) version of the page.

Duplicate Content?
Hi All, I have a new client site, a static site with navigation across the top, and down the left side. Two of the menus from the top navigation are replicated in the navigation structure on the left hand side. They have the exact same url structure, they are in fact the same exact page, listed on the site in two areas. My question is - is this a case of duplicate content, or, as they urls are the exact same, will they be seen as a single page? A canonical tag on one would be replicated on the other by the CMS - so do I leave it, or try to get them to re-structure removing one of the links? (I doubt they will do this as its a brand new site they just has developed). Many thanks!

Removing syndicated duplicate content from website - what steps do I need to take to make sure Google knows?
Hey all, So I've made the decision to cancel the service that provides my blog with regular content / posts, since it seems that having duplicate content on my site isn't doing me any favors. So I'm on a Wordpress system - I'll be exporting the posts so I have them for reference, and then deleting the posts. There are like 150 or so - What steps should I take to ensure that Google learns of the changes I've made? Or do I not need to do anything at all in that department? Also - I guess I've assumed that the best decision would be to 'remove' the content from my blog. IS that the best way to go? Or should I leave it in place and start adding unique content? (my guess is that I need to remove it...) Thanks for your help, Kurt

Question about URLs
Hello! I have a client that wants to upload an URL like this: www.example.com/keyword/page-name.html The main problem is that www.example.com/keyword/ doesn't exist and gives a 404 error so I'd prefer not doing that...... What do you think about this? And if the client wants to go ahead, is there any solution? A 301 to the final page would help? Thank you in advance!

Can duplicate content issues be solved with a noindex robot metatag?
Hi all I have a number of duplicate content issues arising from a recent crawl diagnostics report. Would using a robots meta tag (like below) on the pages I don't necessarily mind not being indexed be an effective way to solve the problem? Thanks for any / all replies

Dynamic parameters
Our site has numerous filters and on each results page, we have the rel canonical tag. So, I'm not sure if we should concern ourselves or not about the crawl stats reporting that we have a bunch of pages that have more than two parameters. If so, do you have any suggestions? This url is an example: http://www.colemanfurniture.com/accent-occasional-furniture/accent-chairs.htm?color=20&furniture_type=213&price=16,10 Thanks!

Quick and easy Joomla 1.5 Duplicate content fix?
www.massduitrialalwyers.com has a TON of duplicate content based on the way joomla 1.5 uses articles. Do you have a tried and true method to eliminate (automated would be preferred) the issues>? if not, might you suggest a plug in that takes care of the rel canonical?
