High Authority, What Value?
-
Hi there,
We have recently had one of our products reviewed on the BBC, however there is no actual link going to our domain, it just mentions www.mydomain.com but not linking, does this have any value in SEO?
Thanks
-
Thanks Matt for quick reply, this makes sense.
-
No it does not. In order to get the juice you need the link.
-
It depends how you look at it - in terms of direct impact on your rankings then no, as there is no link juice coming from a mention of your domain without an actual link. However the BBC is a very busy site and has lots of traffic (it is high authority as you say), so a mention on there will no doubt have some impact on your website as there is a good chance that you product review will gain exposure through social mentions and this can lead to links from other sources which definitely has SEO value!

Domain Authority
Hi Our website Domain Authority isn't as high and was wondering why it's not increasing. Compared to 1 or 2 competitors we're not scoring as high as them. Are rankings are good for all chosen keywords. Just trying to get a better handle where our site is falling short on.

SEO value of article title content?
I work for an online theater news publisher. Our article page titles include various pieces of data: the title, publication date, article category, and our domain name (theatermania.com). Are all of these valuable from an SEO standpoint? My sense it'd be cleaner to just show the title (and nothing more) on a SERP. But we'll certainly keep whatever helps us with rankings.

Urgent Site Migration Help: 301 redirect from legacy to new if legacy pages are NOT indexed but have links and domain/page authority of 50+?
Sorry for the long title, but that's the whole question. Notes: New site is on same domain but URLs will change because URL structure was horrible Old site has awful SEO. Like real bad. Canonical tags point to dev. subdomain (which is still accessible and has robots.txt, so the end result is old site IS NOT INDEXED by Google) Old site has links and domain/page authority north of 50. I suspect some shady links but there have to be good links as well My guess is that since that are likely incoming links that are legitimate, I should still attempt to use 301s to the versions of the pages on the new site (note: the content on the new site will be different, but in general it'll be about the same thing as the old page, just much improved and more relevant). So yeah, I guess that's it. Even thought the old site's pages are not indexed, if the new site is set up properly, the 301s won't pass along the 'non-indexed' status, correct? Thanks in advance for any quick answers!

Using author on every page of website?
I'm currently get to grips with schema and one thing im using is author on my blog posts and seeing my photo etc on organic searches which are related. I see one of my competitors is using author on every page on their website, not just blog posts etc. Are there any recommendation when it should be used? Should it be site wide or is it really intended for blog posts etc? Would it be wrong for me to use on every page of my website as one of my businesses is myself as a lone person? This is what you get when searching for driving lessons in just about any town! https://www.google.co.uk/#gs_rn=15&gs_ri=psy-ab&tok=LS_DOrAHswmHC9_8AJZEJA&suggest=p&pq=driving instructor brighton&cp=20&gs_id=1k2&xhr=t&q=driving+lessons+crawley&es_nrs=true&pf=p&sclient=psy-ab&oq=driving+lessons+craw&gs_l=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.47244034,d.d2k&fp=45c2f917e11bca99&biw=1680&bih=843 Any comments welcome! Rel Author markup for a Book Product?
Hi mozzers, I'm writing up some recommendations for a rebuild of a large bookstore E-commerce site which includes a section on structured data. I'm looking through schema markup and specifically the Product, Thing, CreativeWork and Book schemas. I'm confused however as to whether rel author is applicable/suitable to a book product page? The author of the page is the website, but the author of the book is the Author. The author's name within the product will be linked to their Author Profile page on the website which could potentially include a link to their Google+ page (if they have it... probably <0.01% of Authors, but should be enough for Google to connect the dots). It could work but I don't want to attribute authorship of the page to the book author - I just want to markup the product page to indicate who the author of a book product is. My concern is also that I want the product image to be displayed in SERPs, not the Author photo. Does anybody have any experience or advice regarding this? Cheers Andrew
