30-40% drops in organic Google traffic starting early/mid Feb to Now??
-
Hello All:
I would really appreciate any insight that can be provided into this dilemma.
I've ruled out bad links issues - we don't have them and never engaged in grey to black hat SEO linkbuilding.
I cannot find the cause for this drop off.
Maybe I'm missing something because I am so close to it?
The site is markspace
Thanks in advance for any and all help or insight!!

That's exactly what I have found as well Kane - that you so much for your time and insight!!

You've got high PA/DA, your anchor texts have plenty of branding present, there's no glaring 404s in your top pages, you show up fine for searches for your brand name, I see over 800 pages showing up for a site: search, and I see you ranking on page 1 for generic searches like "iphone sync software."
In other words, nothing pops out at me. At this stage I'd be doing a deep dive in Google Analytics to see if landing pages dropped, number of keywords dropped, traffic for top xx keywords dropped, etc.
Also, you're in a relatively sensitive niche as far as being on top of current trends. If your GA research doesn't come up with anything, I'd bet that it's a seasonal issue. Tons of people got iPhones and iPads for Christmas, and bought gadgets during Dec/Jan, and traffic sloped off after that. Just one possible macro trend that could explain your situation.

Help with https// redirects
Hey there
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Jay328
I have a client who just moved from a self hosted CMS to Adobe Catalyst (don't ask!)
The problem: Their url indexed with google is https://domain.com, Adobe Catalyst does not support third party SSL certificates or https domains. Now when people google them https://domain.com shows up in search, HOWEVER it does not have a trusted certificate and a pop up window blocks the site. They are a mortgage company so SSL is really not needed. What can I do to get google to recognize the site at http: vs. https? Would this be something in GWMT? Thanks!0 -
Will I lose traffic from Google for re-directing a page?
I’m currently planning to a retire a discontinued product and put a 301 redirect to a related product (although not identical). The thing is, I’m still getting significant traffic from people searching for the old product by name. Would Google send this traffic to the new pages via the re-direct? Is Google likely to display the new page in place of the old page for similar queries or will it serve other content? I’d like to answer this question so that I can decide between the two following approaches: 1) Retiring the old page immediately and putting a 301 redirect to the new related pages. This will have the advantage of transferring the value of any link signals / referring traffic. Traffic will also land on the new pages directly without having to click through from another page. We would have a dynamic message telling users that the old product had been retired depending on whether they had visited out site before. 2) Keep the old product pages temporarily so that we don’t lose the traffic from the search engines. We would then change the old pages to advise users that the old product was now retired, but that we have other products that might solve their problems. When this organic traffic decreases over time, then we will proceed with the re-direct as above. I am worried though that the old product pages might outrank the new product pages. I’d really appreciate some advice with this. I’ve been reading lots of articles, but it seems like there are different opinions on this. I understand that I will lose between 10% - 15% of page rank as per the Matt Cutts video.

Google drop down - keyword gone, why?
Hi guys, i received traffic off a yearly based term, this year for '2013' i noticed it is nowhere near what the yearly term was for the year before. I believe that Google has stopped the yearly term appearing in a drop-down menu from a big volume related term, my question is how do they determine what goes in the drop down menu for related/relevant searches?

Do I have to start over?
I have a client of which we put up an extensive responsive landing page with a blog in the backend, this was done with Worpress. Over the new years, our web developer pushed the new site live without telling me, and left the privacy settings on (meaning: please ask search engines not to index this site). The robots.txt I had set up was set up so that the site would be crawled weekly. The site had privacy settings on for 9 days (more than a week, ugh!). Thereby, taking away all the SEO work I had done prior and basically starting with a brand new slate. My question: Do I need to start over with all the seo, or do I need to continue pushing forward and waiting for them to come back up? Either way, still need to do work, but I want to really know if my prior work has become moot. Thanks for your replies.

Rankings dropped - Why?
At the end of November a client site dropped significantly in the rankings. The drop effected almost all the keyphrases we monitor. Historically the homepage has always ranked higher than the sub-pages - however now it seems Google is no longer ranking the home page, and instead ranking the sub-pages, just far far lower down. Any ideas what could cause this?

Google Places
If you rank on google places, I have noticed that you do not rank on the front page as well. I have a site that ranks on front page for it's keywords; however, because they are (1) on google places, they don't show up when someone is localized to that area. They show up on google places but not on front page. If you turn of localization, they are first in serps. How can I get around this? Two separate sites? One for Google+ (Places) and one for SERPS?

Google omitting some entries
Hi, I used this tool to test some domains. The tool can be found at http://www.virante.com/seo-tools/duplicate-content I have no questions about the other checks but with the similarity check. My question is how do i get Google not to omit some entries very similar to the top 1000 pages on my site? Will appreciate your answers, thanks. Suleman
