Word Press Page vs Post
-
Hello, I have a site that is dedicated to real estate. I designed it in dreamweaver. I also attached a blog to it with wordpress. Its self hosted. My question is what is the best way to increase my search rankings with wordpress?
Page vs Post?
Any tips?

Hi Joel
Pages or Posts do not affect search rankings, but as Mark very well points out they differ in functionality.
- PAGES are for static (not tied to a date) content. Pages are like what you'd get on a regular 'ol website.
- POSTS are for dated content, like an ongoing blog or new items. Posts are what you'd typically think of as a blog.
This article I did on WordPress for the Moz blog might help you further.

Joel- Good question....There is no simple page or post answer...depends on what you do.... The only real quantitative difference between them is that posts are built to be social media instruments and pages are built to be static.
This guys does a long example of differences between posts versus pages in seo and comes to no real conclusion...but this section is interesting and I have used it in our seo wordpress playbook I created........read below:
Author is HESHAM ZEBIDA
- WordPress posts and pages both pings other sites when they created or updated (both should be indexed well).
- Both has same SEO options.
- Pages do not cycle through by date, but this doesn’t mean it has no publishing date. (I wonder how Google will deal with it regarding microdata)
- Pages are not included in RSS feed, but this plugin can include Wordpress pages in RSS feed.
- Pages has nothing to do with the blog, it’s not hanged to anything (only sub pages) It’s an awesome flying piece of content!
- Use pages to for content you want people to see every time they visit your blog.
Here is the link to the whole article if you want to spend the time....

Bottomline is if you are building content to use RSS feed and social media-make it a blog. if you are building content to be static, build a page.
One more thing, there are some wordpress themes that it is better to use a blog versus a post because they build in category or taxonomy functionality into one r the other that can provide value.
Hope this helps.
Mark

What is the easiest and most scalable way to add links from one page to a related page entry?
We have a Spanish language reference site, and want to link related entries to each other. For example, the entry for "home" can link to the page with the entry for "home away from home." What is the best and most efficient way to do this at scale?

Could posting on YouMoz get you penalized for "Guest Blogging?"
From my understanding, Matt Cutts hates guest blogging, so I told all of the attorneys here not to write anywhere but on our blog. However, I realized people are constantly "guest blogging' on Moz, and considering how smart these people are, it must not be hurting them or they wouldn't do it. However, what I don't understand is why? Yes, I do get that the quality of what's on YouMoz is high and not spammy, but I got the impression that didn't really matter. Guest blogging would get you into trouble no matter what. Can someone clarify for me? Thanks, Ruben

Adding too many new pages at once - will it be seen as spammy
I have a database of around 10,000 business I want to list on my directory. My problem has been that my people have been adding to the database for over a year, but due to my hosting limitations adding them, caused my site to crash. I have now got this sorted, would going from 1,000 urls listed to over 11,000 may Google think I am trying to spam them. Would it be worth while dripping them in over time, or just adding them all at once. Any advice appreciated, Thanks

Guest Blogging - Home Page PR0
I have found a blog in my niche that accepts guest posts. However, the site is quite odd in that the homepage has a PR of 0 and all the other pages have a 2. I just wanted to check if it is still worth posting on this site as it looks suspicious to me. Thanks.

I want to remove some pages from my site with PR, what should I do with traffic?
I have a section of a site that I want to remove. It has a main page linked from the nav menu, and a half dozen subpages under that. The pages get some traffic and have ranks up to PR3, which is what my site's home page is. I'm no longer want to do these pages as they require tremendous upkeep and I'm not interested in keeping them going. So, I know if I just remove these pages and that's all, I'm going to pay for it somewhere with Google. What else should I do? I do't really have similar pages to direct them too.

Content being copied from our product page hurting our site overall?
On our product pages, he have short descriptions and some bulleted lists. Resellers of our products, and many other sites who are not resellers are copying this content, often verbatim. While I'm not as concerned for the product pages themselves as we're hoping the category pages will rank, does this duplication of our content hurt our site overall? FWIW, our brand name is in our domain and often also shown on these sites that copy the content.
