Competitors Developing Spammy Link For My Website
-
Well Guys there are lot of discussions in almost all the communities, blogs, forums about Post Penguin impact.
Google says that if find that you're involved in any link building activities, we may penalize you. People out there have already started their developed links.
But what if our competitors would have developed those links. Initially it was okay to develop one way links, I even developed lot of quality, but deliberately, links. around 95% links are placed manually, if return to some favor or money but all links looks natural.
Most of the links I developed through content only, like articles, blog comments, PR submission, etc now really skeptical about the quality (after hearing lot of talks and reading n number of posts).
Now, can I also submit my competitor's websites in 1000 topic directory (obviously not in any spammy directory), would it effect that website adversely?
What if I spun an existing content and submit it into 500 article directories and give backlink to competitor site from using only one anchor text (which is obviously the main keywords - highest sales generating keyword)
I look forward to some experts comments.

In support of my question, please read this post : http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-wpmuorg-recovered-from-the-penguin-update
Out of millions of links Matt is points out to a few websites that WPMU is linked with these thin/low quality websites, so doesn't that mean that if any of my competitor add my website on 20 - 25 such poor quality sites or directory, it'll effect my website's performance.

Thanks Deluxebydesign
I do have quality content and have never been involved in any black/grey SEO techniques
I've been promoting my site via guest posts, quality article marketing, PRs, newsletters, etc.
But my question is bit different, I am concrned about the competitors what if they start developing directory and spun content links for me.
Thoughts!

Hi Raj,
You wrote 'Google says that if find that you're involved in any link building activities, we may penalize you' then every webmaster in the world should be worried.
There is a lot of fretting going on esp from people who have seen a decline in their SERPs. Don't believe all the hype.
I'm sure if you have the right content and bring value to the table, none of the Google updates will have an adverse effect on your site

Hi Raj,
I believe both of the mentioned tactics would have a negative impact on the competitior site, however you need to take into account the overall link portfolio that the competitor has already developed.
If they have high PR links, an active well received blog etc these deliberate actions on your part may not be effective in the long-term.
Also as we are still assessing the implications of the P Mammal updates, it is too early for anybody to give a definitive answer on their long term impact. Of course, you have to be aware of updates in the forthcoming weeks/months too.
In these would advise you to concentrate on improving your own site. In the long term that is your best strategy regardless of what other people are doing.
Hope you find that information useful. Remember keep you mindset focused on your business. First and foremost.

Potential spam issue - back links
Hi - we have a client whom we work with for SEO. During a review we noticed in Webmaster Tools, there was an IP address with over 30,000 links to our clients site. The IP address is 92.60.0.123. From looking up the IP address details, it looks like it is based in Europe - but we are unable to establish what it is, where the links are and who created it. We are concerned it could be a potential spammer trying to cause an issue with the SEO campaign. Is there any way of finding out any more details apart from the basic information about the location of the IP address? Also - if we submit a disavow via webmaster tools, we are unsure what issue it will have on the clients site if we do not know what it is and the type of links it is creating. Any ideas? Thanks for your help! Phil.

Competition Link Metrics Analysis - Do you have any suggestions ?
My sub-pages are ranking well, but Homepage isn't ranking well for the keywords I'd like it to. It used to in the past. My site - njhypnotherapy.com used to rank (#2-5) 1st page in google for many keywords. In Sep/Oct I noticed my homepage ranking drop dramatically for the main keywords. Well, I made some foolish decisions and I'm trying to clean up the mess. Low quality links, duplicate content...etc I rewrote most of the content, removed unnecessary pages, removed as many low quality links, and used disavow for the rest. It's been a 2 Weeks now. I noticed a lot of improvements in my sub-pages. From #50 to #20. Not Bad. My homepage still isn't ranking. Any suggestions to improve? Btw, I've included my link metrics below if it helps 🙂 Thank You metricks.png

My website disapeared from google rankings, please help?
Our website url is http://www.phoria.com Around January 16th we disappeared from google for the keyword 'kratom' We were on page 3 for the longest time. We have no critical messages in webmaster tools however I did notice most of our links seem to be website directory links. We still rank for a couple terms like buy kratom on page 6.I think a google update occurred around this time so I've read however if we had a variety of links that went against google guidelines wouldn't we have received a message stating so in Webmaster Tools? This month has been very confusing to say the least. Any help would be appreciated.

Link Building using Badges
In light of penguin update, is link building using badges(like "I love SEOMOZ" badge) still considered a white hat tactic? I have read old posts on SEOMOZ blog about this topic and wondering if this method is still effective. Look forward to feedback from MOZers.
