Google Inbound Links much higher than SEOMOZ
-
I just started here and really like everything the community and tools so far. One question. My SEOMOZ dashboard shows only one inbound link while Google Web Tools shows 300+. My site has been up for 3 months now and I'm curious about the lack of indexing. Any help, tips or feedback is greatly appreciated.

In your case your site is indexed with www, but is also available without, so I would use this rewrite rule instead, to ensure www is added every time.
adds www
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^martinspencephotography.co.uk [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.martinspencephotography.co.uk/$1 [L,R=301]

Hi Riplash
I'm new to this - how can I tell if my site:
www.martinspencephotography.co.uk also needs to redirect to martinspencephotography.co.uk?
Do I have any glaring problems?
Thanks
Martin

When you say Google Web Tools I'm assuming you mean Google Webmaster Tools. Google have access to their entire index, so they can see all the backlinks they show in GWT (and some that they don't). Quite often this will be a number in excess of that shown by other tools.
If I run the URL through ahrefs, I see 653 backlinks from 14 domains.
SEOmoz's metrics are based based on their own, more limited data, which prioritises sites to decide which should or shouldn't make the cut (as I understand it). It is updated once every month or so. You will probably discover that most of the sites which link back to you so far aren't themselves in the Mozscape data, so aren't showing as backlinks in SEOmoz toolbar or OSE.
An additional point which I noted whilst prodding your site, is that your website shows for both www and non-www URLs. This is an SEO nono, is considered duplicate content (across the entire site in this case), and is watering down your rankings. In addition, it can skew the backlink count shown using various tools (though this doesn't seem to be the case here).
In your case, it appears redirecting to non-www will probably be best, as this is the URL Google has been indexing. Also appears you are using Wordpress, hopefully on a normal Linux/Apache server. If so, you should be able to use this rule in your .htaccess file.
removes www
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.crosstrainingandfitness.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*) http://crosstrainingandfitness.com/$1 [L,R=301]

Website not being indexed by Google - does seomoz have a index checker?
i have been to a couple of index checking websites that are saying my website is not being indexed, my developer and seo team have been making a lot of changes recently and I think it is because of that. Also my first byte grade is D. Can I check here on seomoz if my site is being indexed by Google here in the UK?

Learn SEOmoz API (and more)?
I'm sorry for this very basic question. The reason why I'm asking is that I wan't to start to use SEOmoz API (and later on Majestic SEO etc.) I have search on the web about API in general, SEOmoz specifically, in Q&A and asked around but:
Moz Pro | | OscarSE
I really can't get my head around what "set of skills" I need to know to be able use the SEOmoz API? And other APIs for that reason. Do I need a programming skills, or just knowledge how each specific API works(+ common sense)? Or both? I'm sorry if this is off topic but the main reason why I'm asking is that I wan't to start to use the SEOmoz API. If you could provide a link or two about where I can start to learn about how this works, I would really appreciate that!0 -
Rankings in Google.be - 3 languages
As the site of my customers is in 3 languages, I also want to monitor the rankings in 3 languages. I do have the possibility to monitor them in seomoz: google.be english google.be dutch google.be french However, in the report (http://pro.seomoz.org/campaigns/227154/rankings) I do see the 3 columns, but the title is only google.be, WITHOUT the language selection. Not really helpfull... Any advice? oNDu9

SEOMoz Link Analysis Not Updating?
Hi there, I am wondering why the Link Analysis in SEOMoz takes so long to recognise new back-links. I have had the same figures showing for months when I know that I have added a lot more backlinks that are showing in my Google WebMaster account and I have also proven exist by searching directly in Google's search engine. How often does the Link Analysis section update itself? Are these figures worth following at all or are they useless? Thanks!

How do you use SEOmoz
I'm a newbie here. I've got a week left on my free trail. I really like SEOmoz, I might even love it a bit. 🙂 I'm trying to justify the cost. I usually don't spend money on my Internet Marketing. I've done it through finally buying some tools to help me get there. Massive change in the last year. I'm a long ways from getting rich YET though. 🙂 I've gone from $30 a month to $1000 a month in a year. So I think I'm on my way now. I'm trying to figure out why I should continue my subscription and actually start paying for it. If I were a developer I can certainly see why but the cost would so go way up. 🙂 I'm in the lowest level package with only five websites. I have 10 I'm working on. I know that's probably five to many at one time. I'm having a little trouble justifying the cost at this time. At my income level $100 a month is significant. I can see the value of seeing where my competition has backlinks. Sometimes my competition is Cnet. haha Well, I can beat them on a specific page at times. Hmm, can I search the URL list for links? Perhaps i can if I export it. That didn't occur to me. Now that could be of use if I can find my keywords. If their link is on Amazon though, I'm going to have trouble getting a link there. 🙂 Maybe I should work on less competitive links but I made good money last month with one page that was beating them. WAS beating them. How do you use SEOmoz? How do you justify the cost, that is offset the expense. If its not making me money i don't see the value. I can get a lot of this information for free but it sure is easier to get it here. Which saves me time. And the other tool i use isn't that good and not always reliable and slow. I've got a week left on my free trail. I had decided to let it go but now I'm reconsidering. $100 is a lot for me and I need to spend more on SEO outsourcing. I wonder if I wouldn't be better off dropping it for a while and then coming back. This certainly isn't mean to be a critical post at all. I'm looking for reasons to stay and make better use of it. Thanks for the thoughts, Rusty

Is anyone else having problems with this? Every search I do seems to throw up an error in the traffic fields.

Reg. internal followed links
Our site is new. So far we have a 534 pages. Our competitors have around 5000. I'm working on building more, but that's a lot of catching up. The report says we have only 174 internal followed links. Why is that? I have all links set in the site to be nofollow links, but not the inside links. I also have lots of landing pages, which are not added to the main menu, obviously. But the the main menu shows up on all landing pages. Just wondering if either the nofollow has anything to do with it or the landing pages set up, or the numbers are accurate. Any ideas? Thanks!

SEOMoz Campaign shows Warnings for pages with >200 and <300 links
We currently use SEOMoz's campaign tool to review the SEO progress of our site. One thing we are unsure of is that SEOMoz gives us a warning for over 1000 of our pages because we have around 200 links on those pages (all in the Menu Drop Downs). I read the post and watched the video, Whiteboard Friday Flat Site Architecture a while ago and Rand mentioned there is no issue with having a web page with 200 to 300 links and he even encouraged it. So why would these show up as warnings in our Campaign?
