How can a not so passionate subject get links? Need ideas?
-
Our client owns a very big pest control site.
They are competing with pestmall, orkin, terminex to name a few. Almost all of there competitors are spamming like crazy.
For some of their competitors it is working.
They get natural links very slowly. Maybe 1 natural link every week.
How can a not so passionate subject get links?
Here was my ideas.
Offer a tool to pest control sites for a link in return. The flaw is most pest control company owners are not tech savy and if they are they have hired it out.
I just really need some ideas.
Thank you.

Double the content. They you get more traffic and 2 natural links per week.
Kick up the content with humor, video, great photos, useful stuff, higher quality... then you get 4 natural links per month.

Perhaps an article or infographic discussing the most environmentally responsible pest control methods? I was sold by a company recently who made a big deal about how environmentally "green" their pest sprays were compared to the competition. You could talk about the consequences of some of the older and more damaging pest control chemicals.
Maybe an infographic showing the different kinds of pests and the consequences of an infestation?
A bunch of scary close-up photos of insects, their swarms and the damage they can do in an infographic may get a few clicks.

Every topic has a niche. Find what yours is, and own it! For instance, here's an example of a pest control company who's website is loaded with helpful info... check out their "Pest Library"
http://www.economyexterminators.com/pest-library.html
They've documented and categorized tons of different pests, and have enough detailed information to become an authoritative "source" for info on various pests. With all the helpful info found in their pest library, they're sure to get some links from somewhere for people looking to learn more about any given pest.
Barring that, infographics are also a popular way of gaining some links. Think of a need (for information) that isn't currently being met, or at least isn't readily available. Fill that need, and people will link to you. Find a niche and take it over.

Can 302's Negate Spam Link Profile?
To make a long story short, the previous SEO company we hired spammed us on LOTS of crappy links, many of which are still indexed. We're currently in the act of removing these links before we receive a manual spam penalty/notification + building new, stronger links to balance out our profile. While most of these garbage links were sent to our homepage, many are linking our Services page (and a bunch to our .com/sitemap.html for some reason, lol). Now we're in the midst of updating our entire website and the permalinks are going to change. While I'd normally 301 our old links to the new ones, Id rather not bring the horrible link profile with it if at all possible. Would a simple 302 redirect effectively dodge the bad juju from these spam links to our Services page since they pass 0 juice? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you discount a subscription when the client links to you, does that classify as a paid link?
For example, we all subscribe to MOZ, but if we received a 25% discount on our subscription if we linked back, would that be considered by Google as a paid link, or would it be seen as a sales tool / promotion?

Content Marketing - Getting Webmaster to Link to Article
Hello, We're doing a niche article and we want to do a link building campaign around it. I'm not as interested in being linked to in resource sections - that will happen - but my question is for other links. What types of links am I looking for, is it guest posts - is that the best? If so, how do convince them to allow a guest post around an article? Thanks.

Link Relevance vs Link Authority ?
Hi guys, I have a quick question regarding some low quality links my site is getting. From the information in Open Site Explorer, the website Im talking about has a page authority of 16 while the domain authority is 11\. These are very low quality scores in my oppinion and Im thinking of removing them with Google Disavow Tool. The thing is that, although the domain is low quality, the links have relevance as they're in the same business sector as us. More exactly, the name of the domain is taxisavona and the company I work for is also a taxi company. So, now I`m thinking, should I disavow the link because of it's low scores or should I leave it because it is relevant to our business ? Thank you in advance! Best regards, Tiberiu Iavorenciuc

I am getting links on people's wordpress blogs but are not showing up on the just discovered tool. Is it true that wordpress links are no-follow links that do give off any link-juice?
A blogger told me that "wordpress.com does not allow blogs to show advertisements or use links to sites that sell merchandise of any kind" is this true? Am i wasting my outreach time trying to get links from wordpress operated blogs?

Ideas for structuring contest to get links?
Hi Mozzers, So I'm getting all set to run a contest. The prizes are great and I've developed a good way to promote it via paid and natural venues. I'm just not sure how to structure the actual contest so the end result is more links than mentions. One idea I had was to make this a story telling contest where the contestant blogs about a good/bad experience within the niche industry and adds a link back to us to enter. Does this seem like to much effort for the user? Prices are worth about $250 each, and I plan to have 3 winners. Any ideas on how to better gear this towards link building is appreciated. Thanks!

Should we get more IPs?
We have an IP with 2 of our major sites hosted on it. Because we own both, we exchange links obviously. The question is, won't Google see that we have these sites on the same IP and thus figure for themselves that they might be owned by the same owner. So the it is almost link reciprocal linking. The solution, host all sites on separate IPs?
