Odd 404 Errors in WP That I cannot find the origin
-
Hello Everyone,
I have a really odd error that I cannot figure out how to fix. I keep getting a 404 error (through google webmaster tools, and SEOmoz) at this url http://www.cio-tech.com/cios-oracle-optimization-results-roi-justification-save-20m-over-5-years/www.SynSynAck.com...
I am not even too sure how this link originated because the first part is a URL to a blog post, and the second is another website that I have.
I'd appreciate any help on the matter.

Once I popped on the page, I saw the www.syn.... link. After that I just hovered my mouse near it and saw the URL and where your 404 error was.
What I usually do is view page source if I get a 404 error, since it tells you what the error is.

That fixed it, there was some odd issue with a plugin I was using "CKE Editor" that it wouldn't let me type in the link properly, super odd.
For future reference, how did you find the page where the actual anchor was placed?
Thanks for your help!

Your post:
http://www.cio-tech.com/cios-oracle-optimization-results-roi-justification-save-20m-over-5-years/
First paragraph:
improvements… a technical companion Video is posted on www.SynSynAck.comshowing the case study packet trace explaining the technical analysis to find optimization opportunities
Now that hyperlink is anchored as www.SynSynAck.com, but the actual URL is
http://www.cio-tech.com/cios-oracle-optimization-results-roi-justification-save-20m-over-5-years/www.SynSynAck.com
Go back into the post, and edit the URL/Hyperlink to just www.synsynack.com
And that should do it.

In your SEOmoz report you are able to download all errors as a CSV file. The final column of this file will tell you the referring page of your 404. That should allow you to identify the culprit!

Sitemap generator partially finding list of website URLs
Hi everyone, When creating my XML sitemap here it is only able to detect a portion of the website. I am missing at least 20 URLs (blog pages + newly created resource pages). I have checked those missing URLs and all of them are index and they're not blocked by the robots.txt. Any idea why this is happening? I need to make sure all wanted URLs to be generated in an XML sitemap. Thanks!

Find all external 404 errors/links?
Hi All, We have recently discovered a site was linking to our site but it was linking to an incorrect url, resulting in a 404 error. We had only found this by pure chance and wondered if there was a tool out there that will tell us when a site is linking to an incorrect url on our site? Thanks 🙂

Xml sitemaps giving 404 errors
We have recently made updates to our xml sitemap and have split them into child sitemaps. Once these were submitted to search console, we received notification that the all of the child sitemaps except 1 produced 404 errors. However, when we view the xml sitemaps in a browser, there are no errors. I have also attempted crawling the child sitemaps with Screaming Frog and received 404 responses there as well. My developer cannot figure out what is causing the errors and I'm hoping someone here can assist. Here is one of the child sitemaps: http://www.sermonspice.com/sitemap-countdowns_paged_1.xml

Disappeared from Google with in 2 hours of webmaster tools error
Hey Guys I'm trying not to panic but....we had a problem with google indexing some of our secure pages then hit those pages and browsers firing up security warning, so I asked our web dev to have at look at it he made the below changes and within 2 hours the site has drop off the face of google “in web master tools I asked it to remove any https://freestylextreme.com URLs” “I cancelled that before it was processed” “I then setup the robots.txt to respond with a disallow all if the request was for an https URL” “I've now removed robots.txt completely” “and resubmitted the main site from web master tools” I've read a couple of blog posts and all say to remain clam , test the fetch bot on webmasters tools which is all good and just wait for google to reindex do you guys have any further advice ? 404 - page authority?
If in open site explorer my 404 pages have a higer page authority - what benefit would i see in rankings if I 301 redirected those pages to the right page. For example www.site.com/widget is a 404 but has authority according to open site explorer - but the page i see in the serps is www.site.com/widget/ with the / at the end. so what benefit would i see in rankings if I 301 redirected those pages to the right page?

Parameter handling (where to find all parameters to handle)?
Google recently said they updated their parameter handling, but I was wondering what is the best way to know all of the parameters that need "handling"? Will Google Webmaster find them? Should the company know based on what is on their site? Thanks!

4xx Client Error
I have 2 pages showing as errors in my Crawl Diagnostics, but I have no idea where these pages have come from, they don't exist on my site. I have done a site wide search for them and they don't appear to be referenced are linked to from anywhere on my site, so where is SEomoz pulling this info from? the two links are: http://www.adgenerator.co.uk/acessibility.asp http://www.adgenerator.co.uk/reseller-application.asp The first link has a spelling mistake and the second link should have an "S" on the end of "application"
