Can Bundling Products Help eCommerce SEO?
-
We currently have over 13,000 products on our site. SeoMoz reports many duplicate pages, which are items that are very similar (different size, application, sku, etc.). Would it be prudent to create a bundled product that has one page, one description, a set of images and a table with add to cart buttons for all of the different products on that page? (called a bundled product in Magento). Then create 301 redirects from all of the individual pages and categories to the relevant new bundled product.

Majority of shopping sites I've seen usually have the color tile under the product picture when it is listed with the other products.
If they see that there are other colors, they will most likely click it to see what colors or sizes are available.
This will improve you pageviews and keep the customer on the site, rather then driving them away right away after finding out the size or color is no longer available.

Yes, that is similar to what I mean.
Would there be an SEO benefit from the new organization?
I'm afraid it might be more difficult for a visitor to find the right part (loosing faceted navigation), because they will have to scroll through a list to find the correct item.

Depends what you mean, if its like:
Main product: Bookbag
URL1: Small Bookbag
URL2: Large Bookbag
URL3: Green Bookbag
If these variations are the same product, just different colors and sizes, you should keep them on the same page. Magento can easily bundle those as you mentioned.
And yes, 301 redirect those older links to the bundled URL. It will benefit you overall, it could probably drastically remove a lot of the duplicates.

Entities and SEO
How do you find the correct words (entities) to explain an entity ? The words (entities) that go together within a sentence seem to be based on the specific corpus (the keyword you want to rank ) and when they are million of results it seems impossible to find what word / entity is going to explain the entity / concept I want to explain. It seems that I got a better chance at the lottery 🙂 a

CDN for SEO (or not)?
Does CDN impact on SEO or not? There seems conflicting ideas as to whether they impact positively or negatively, I realise that if the page loads quicker this is a good thing for SEO and usability of course. Does Google see CDN as just cheating and a get-around for not doing the work from the ground up and using good hosting etc? Do you have any direct experience? All constructive input much appreciated!

Can multiple redirects from old URLs hurt SEO?
We have a client that had an existing site with existing rankings. We rebuilt the site using DNN 7 and created/tested 301 redirects from all the Original URLs to the new DNN URLs which are nasty and have /tabid/1234 and will not allow for dashes (-)'s We have found a DNN module that will make the DNN 7 URLs search friendly. However, that will cause us to 301 the current DNN urls to the new URLs so in fact the original will redirect to the DNN and the DNN will redirect to the rewritten SEO friendly URLs. What should we know here before proceeding?

SEO for Global Navigations
I did my first SEO audit from the book SEO Secrets by Danny Dover on my new website at http://melo4.melotec.com:4010/ In the book he says to disable Javascript and see if the global navigation still works. So when I did that the dropdown menus in my navigation don't show. I'm assuming this is a problem but when I check the cache text only version of the site, the dropdowns are in the text only version. Are their any experienced SEO's out their who can weigh in on this issue? Should I have my developer redo the navigation without any javascript? Thanks, Shawn
