Why is my website redirecting to www.domainname.comwww.domainname.com?
-
It seems as if a website i have just started working on has a major issue where the 404 page isn't set up properly.
When you go to a page that doesn't exist it redirects like this.. "www.domainname.comwww.domainname.com"
How can i fix this?
Cpanel Host.
Very old version of joomla and virtuemart.
I looked at the visitor flow and about 200 visitors monthly that are dropping because of this.

Check in the root directory for a file called .htaccess
A typical way of listing the 404 redirects in the file is like this:
ErrorDocument 404 /404-error-page.php
If you don't see a line that starts with "ErrorDocument" then Joomla or Virtuemart are causing the problem. If it is an old version of Joomla, it needs to be updated anyway for security reasons. If the line seems messed up in the .htaccess file, you can at least send it to a working page like this:
ErrorDocument 404 /index.php
Maybe that will at least send it to the front page.

Disavow both www. and non www. version of site?
I just submitted my disavow file to Google after several months of work. A few months ago a saw a partial match unnatural link penalty in the www. version of my site's Search Console account. The penalty has since expired. Should I also upload the file to the non www. side of the Search Console account? No penalty ever appeared there.

Website not coming up properly on Google
Hello, our website (http://www.roguevalleymicro.com/index.php) is not coming up properly on Google search (for example, when you search for Rogue Valley Microdevices on Google). We believe that there is something wrong with the website source code, and Google cannot index it properly. However, your Crawl Test results did not indicate any such problems. Can someone help us with some advice please?

Redirect at Registrar or Server
Hi folks, I have run into a situation were a new client has 3 TLDs (e.g. mycompany.com, mycompany.org and mycompany.biz), all with the same content. They are on a Windows IIS environment, which I am not familiar with. Until now, all of my clients have been Linux/Apache environment, so I always dealt with these issues utilizing htaccess. Currently all resolve to the same IP, but the URL remains the same in the browser address field (e.g. if you type-in mycompany.org - it remains as such). We want the .org and .biz version to 301 Redirect to the .com TLD. I am wondering what the best practice might be in this situation? Could we simply redirect at the registrar level or would implementation at the server level be best? If so, I would really appreciate an example from someone with experience implementing redirects on IIS. Thank you!

Canonicalization interact with 301 redirects?
This is a interesting one I think. I have recently taken down some product list pages from our website www.towelsrus.co.uk. These have canonicalisation in place to deal with pages where a query string is generated depending on the search criteria. When I put a 301 redirect in place the target page redirects fine, however webmaster tools then errors with 404 on all canonicalised pages. Is this correct behaviour and how do we get over this?

Www and non www how to check it.......for sure. No, really, for absolutely sure!!
Ok, I know it has been asked, answered, and re-asked but I am going to ask for a specific reason. As you know, anyone who is a graphic designer or web developer is also an expert in SEO....Right???

I am dealing with a client who is clinging to a developer but wants us to do the SEO on a myriad of sites. All connect to his main site via links, etc. The main site was just redeveloped by a developer who claims extensive SEO knowledge. The client who referred me to them is getting over twenty times the organic clients they are and is in a JV with the new client. Soooo, I want to show them once and for all they are wrong on the www. versus non-www. When I do a Site:NewClient.com in Google I get a total of 13 www.newclient.com url's and 20 newclient.com url's without the www. Oddly, none are dupes of the other. So, where the www.NewClient/toy-boat/ is there, the other might be non www. NewClient/toy-boat/sailing-green/ Even the contact page is in the www.NewClient/contact versus the non www of NewClient/Contact-us/ But, both pages seem to resolve to the non www. (A note here is that I originally instructed the designer to do non www to www. because the page authority was on the www.NewClient and he did opposite. With pages that are actually PDF files, if you try to use the www.NewClient/CoolGuy.pdf it comes up 404. When I check our sites, using Site:We-Build-Better.com ours return all www.We-Build-better/ url's. So, any other advice on how to insure these correct or incorrect? Oddly, we have discovered that sometimes in OSE, even with a correct canonical redirect it shows one without authority and the other with....we have contacted support. Come on mozzers, hook a brother up!0 -
Open Site Explorer not Seeing 301 Redirect to non-www
I cannot figure out why open site explorer doesn't see that when you go to http://preferredroofingkc.net/ it redirects to http://www.preferredroofingkc.net/ This is a wordpress installation that uses a cannonical url http://www.preferredroofingkc.net/ The HTACCESS file also has a 301 redirect as follows: RewriteEngine On
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | RobertFisher
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^preferredroofingkc.net [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.preferredroofingkc.net/$1 [L,R=301] But, open site explorer still shows these sites separately without alerting that there is a 301 redirect.0
