We registered with Yahoo Directory. Why won't this show up as a a linking root domain in our link analysis??
-
Recently checked our link analysis report for 2 of our campaigns who are registered in the dir.yahoo.com (yahoo directory). For some reason, we don't see this being a domain that shows up as linking to our website - why is this?
-
Hi Neil,
I'm not at the office to verify with the team right now, but it's a fairly safe bet to guess that we don't crawl all of the pages of Yahoo's directory, so if this is down several directory layers deep and not popular, we may not crawl it.
-
Have you seen any upward movement in rankings since you got listed in the directory?
-
Also go to Alexa.com and search your site and check linking in sites. That may be another place where you can look to see that you are receiving the link.
-
It takes some time as others have mentioned. I know OSE does delay in counting certain links. I wouldn't stress it, you can just check on Google or GWT if that link is being accounted for, but again they don't update too frequently either.
If the link is there, it should be indexed soon, just a matter of time.

Thanks for the heads up on BOTW. Would be great to see which of the 2 directories was responsible for the increase in PA/DA or If both were responsible in equal measurements.
Does anyone know ?
-
Yes, and we typed in the company name into the dir.yahoo.com search and both appear.
Thanks for your help on BOTW also - we just signed up 2 sites for that and we'll see what it does for us...
-
Might be a silly answer from me here, but have you logged into your Yahoo account to see if the listing is live?
I took some PA/DA metrics and rank date for my target keywords before signing up to the directories. I re-checked a couple months later and noticed decent increases in PA/DA and steady rank improvements, so i'll say signing up to both was a good move - but hard to say which directory contributed to the improvementes, whether it was one of or both.
But yes, I liked BOTW, much easier than Yahoo to get the listing approved and live, and cheaper to boot.
-
I've never registered for BOTW - do you like it? I notice that they let you link to your google+, facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn!
In response to the directory though, I might contact Yahoo!
-
I registered one of my sites back in May on Yahoo Dir and BOTW, started showing in OSE at the start of August, so can take a bit of time - but 7 months would seem way to long!
-
Well, one of our sites has been on Yahoo Directory for over 1 month, and the other has been on for 7 months. So, why then has it still not shown up?
-
Linkscape is not updated daily or weekly. It is usually monthly. So if this happened within the month it will show up in the next update.

We switched the domain from www.blog.domain.com to domain.com/blog.
We switched the domain from www.blog.domain.com to domain.com/blog. This was done with the purpose of gaining backlinks to our main website as well along with to our blog. This set us very low in organic traffic and not to mention, lost the backlinks. For anything, they are being redirected to 301 code. Kindly suggest changes to bring back all the traffic.

Moving to old site to new domain sub directory
Hi, we've moved our old site to a new domain but in a subdirectory (the shopping site has been consolidated into overarching company website's shopping section, thus the move to sub dir). Are 301 redirects from old URLs to new domain's subdirectory ex newsite.com/shopping/page-1/ sufficient for site migration? I wasn't able to use Google's site address change tool since we're moving to a subdirectory on the new domain. Thanks

Can you regain any SERPs / link juice of links that have 404'd?
We have a client whose 301 redirects disappeared and have been gone for about 6 months now. We are going to be putting the 301 redirects back in place. Will we be able to regain any of the previous SERPs or link juice from old links or is all lost? Thanks in advance!

Why Doesn't All Structured Data Show in Google Webmaster?
We have more than 80k products, each of them with data-vocabulary.org markup on them, but only 17k are being reported as having the markup in Google Webmaster (GW). If I run a page that GW isn't showing as having the structure data in the structured data testing tool (http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets), it passes. Any thoughts on why this would be happening? Is it because we should switch from data-vocabulary.org to schema.org? Example of page that GW is reporting that has structured data: https://www.etundra.com/restaurant-equipment/refrigeration/display-cases/coutnertop/vollrath-40862-36-inch-cubed-glass-refrigerated-display-cabinet/ Example of page that isn't showing in GW as having structured data: https://www.etundra.com/kitchen-supplies/cutlery/sandwich-spreaders/mundial-w5688-4-and-half-4-and-half-sandwich-spreader/

Redirect link from a particular domain
Hi guys/gals, I have a few domains and blogs which I use really for a bit of fun and experimenting. One of the domains (abc.com) wasn't doing much but has a few decent links built to it. I redirected this domain to an active blog (123.com). Here's the problem: There's a particular external link to the homepage of abc.com which drives a lot of traffic but isn't relevant to the content of 123.com which it redirects to, causing a huge bounce rate from this link. Is there a way (maybe using using htaccess) that I can redirect traffic from this one link to another domain completely? I've contacted the owner of the external site but they are unable (or unwilling) to change the link. I hope I haven't lost you all but shout if you need any clarification. Thanks in advance!

301 Redirect & Linking Root Domain Count
Howdy Mozzers! If I do a 301 redirect from a domain that say has 200 linking root domains, to a fresh domain will the fresh domain now (when updated) have a linking root domain count of 200? Also, is it beneficial or detrimental to do a 301 redirect for an unrelated website i.e. garden hose website, to a children's playgorund equipment website in order to capture the link juice? Best

Why is this url showing as "not crawled" on opensiteexplorer, but still showing up in Google's index?
The below url is showing up as "not crawled" on opensitexplorer.com, but when you google the title tag "Joel Roberts, Our Family Doctors - Doctor in Clearwater, FL" it is showing up in the Google index. Can you explain why this is happening? Thank you http://doctor.webmd.com/physician_finder/profile.aspx?sponsor=core&pid=14ef09dd-e216-4369-99d3-460aa3c4f1ce
