Yahoo Paid directory - Worth the Money?
-
I was thinking of paying money to be in the Yahoo directory, is it worth it?
-
Instead of putting all of your money into one link that you may not even get you could try and get 3, or four links from other higher rated directories that cost less.

"ethically" by buying links? SEO is funny
-
I am in the photography and wedding industry going for local keywords and it is super hard to get quality links from anybody, because they are all my competitors. I am on the first page for a few of my keywords, but I am getting tired of being at #7 and want to get to #1 ethically.

Steven-Depends on your competitors and if you are focused on local. If you don't have a lot of competition for your keywords, and you aren't focused on local, than it isn't because you an generate the same value doing a variety of things that are less expensive. If you are in competitive situation and need local search, then bite the bullet and spend the money because it will add value.
Out of 100 clients that are focused on local and are in competitive markets, we have tested it on over 70% and it has been worth the investment.
Hope this helps..

Paid directory links
Just going through my competitors back links, and discovered a couple of directories who charge a small fee for a listing (£20) (one way link) or a free listing (with a reciprocal link) they both have PR of 50 so I was wondering are these type of links still worth it? Best wishes. David.

Is it OK to disavow directory submissions?
I'm currently working on a website that has had a load of spammy links built in the past. From what I can see, it would be most efficient and effective to disavow everything that's there as all work performed previously is low quality, except for some local directory submissions. These local directory submissions are likely "no follow" and therefore, I'm wondering is it OK to disavow everything including these local directory submissions, seeing they are no follow anyway?

Directory Listing without Permission... Was your company listed here also likes ours?
We just found a backlink for our site from a brand spanking new, week-old directory site. We did not create this, so aside from submitting a request to remove it through their contact form (which we already did), do you have any other tips to get this removed beside submitting a disavow request. http://seo-company-in.com//United_States/North_Carolina/whiteboard-creations-cary-and-raleigh-nc-web-design-and-seo-service-267 Also, check to make sure your company isn't listed as well without your permission (not providing a functioning link back for them, but enter in their domain to check it out. Let me know your thoughts. - Patrick

Do NOFOLLOW backlinks have ANY value? or did I waste money?
So, I hired a helping hand to create some back-links for me (in form of comments on some blogs and forums etc) About 60% of those links created are using "nofollow" attribute in the link. Is there ANY - ANY! value in creating such links? or is just wasted time and money and Google will absolutely not give any love for NOFOLLOW links? please share you insight. thnak you.

Why are major directories missing from link report
Why are back links like dir.yahoo.com not listed in the link report for sites that are listed in dir.yahoo.com? For a site with 18 back links and a DA of 28, how much affect, if any, would a paid listing in a directory like yahoo have on the sites DA?

Is it worth editing older blog posts for SEO purposes?
The title of the question asks it all. One site I currently work on has a handful of blog posts that rank really well in the SERPS for certain "long-tail" searches. Would it be worth the time to, when I have it, to go back and edit the blogs little by little to help with SEO and building some links throughout the site to get people where we need them to go? Basically "sprucing" up the blog posts to make them more readable, more engaging and help some link building efforts within the domain. Thoughts?

Directory submissions
Hi All, I am wondering what is the current story with directory submissions. Are they not good news now? Will they upset the panda? Should I make directory submissions? Andrew
