Is text that is burned into the code stronger than text that is retrieved from the DB?
-
Hi,
Do you think that texts that are written inside the file's source code get more attention / more credit from Google than texts that are brought from the DB?
Thanks
-
Moosa and Marie are both correct, there is no difference between hard-coded text and text rendered from data retrieved from a database.
-
I can't see that there would be any difference. Google's looking at the final page that was rendered, so if the page is rendered via code or via database I would think it would be the same.
-
Personally i never thought of this but logically there shouldn’t be any preference in it...i think if there is a lot of text available on the page then the page that load quicker will have more preference over the one that take more time than normal in loading the page.
Why shouldn’t be any difference is because either way you are helping user to get more information about the page and subject so it’s doesn’t matter that the text is available as hard coded or coming from the data base until there is no problem in indexing the content and page load time.

Probably basic, but how to use image Title and Alt Text - and confusing advice from Moz!
I've been doing SEO on my business's site for years and have got good results. I've always used image Titles and Alt Text text. Our blog posts are image-intensive, often with 100-200 pictures (not surprising since we're photographers). For any given blog post, I've tended to have a uniform image Title for each image and then a more specialised Alt Text tag giving a description. A typical image on one of our blog posts would be like this: Image filename: wedding-photography-at-so-and-so-venue-001.jpg .... 002, 003 etc Image Title Attribute: Wedding Photography at So-And-So-Venue by Our-Company-Name - this would be the same for every image in the blog post. Alternative Text: Bride and groom exchanging vows during wedding ceremony at so-and-so-venue - this would be tailed for each image. So my question is - is this right? The Moz help page for image SEO is actually incorrect in one aspect: https://mza.bundledseo.com/ugc/10-tips-for-optimizing-your-images-for-search "Alt text (short for “alternative text”) is used to highlight the identity of an image when you hover over it with your mouse cursor. It also shows as text to all users when there are problems rendering the image." This is not the case. Hovering over the image in Firefox, Chrome, Edge and Opera ALL display the Image Title, NOT Alt Text. Thoughts?

Different text position on mobile and desktop page
Hi there, We have product category descriptions in our webshop, with one smal difference: desktop: the first paragraf is at the top above the products with a scroll down to the other paragrafs below the products mobile: the whole text is below the products I am wondering whether it is allright in regards of the mobile first index, or should we have exactly the same paragraf split on the desktop and mobile version? Eg. dadum.pl/zabawki Thanks in advance for your opinions. Isabelle

Code Monitor Recommendations
Hi all, I was wondering if you have any recommendations for a code monitor? We'd like to keep track of any code and content changes on a couple of websites. We've taken a look at Page Monitor: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/page-monitor/pemhgklkefakciniebenbfclihhmmfcd?hl=en but I'm not sure if it tracks code changes? Any suggestions for free or paid tools would be appreciated. Edit: We'd also like to avoid a tool that requires any tracking code changes or anything that involves a database/FTP connection.

Importance of Unique Content Location in Source Code
How much does Google value placement of unique content in the source code vs where it is visually displayed? I have a case where my unqiue content visually displays high on page for the user, but in the source code the unique quality content is below duplicate type content that appear across many other domains (think e-commerce category thumbs on left side of screen and 80% right side of screen unique stuff). I have the impression I am at a disadvantage because these pages have the unique / quality content lower in source code. Any thoughts on this?

Role of Home Page Text
My company operates a commercial real estate web site in New York City. We are competing against brands that can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars per year on marketing and SEO. I am an independent without employees. I am trying to replace generic home page text (my web site is ww.nyc-officespace-leader.com) with more engaging language that will differentiate the site. In terms of SEO best practices, what constraints exist on home page text? Must it discuss the brand in a general way? Must it specifically describe the interior pages of a site? For new home page text, I wanted to take a practical approach and provide visitors with a checklist that would be useful for their search. The check list would be in the form 500-800 words or very practical advice, specific items they should be aware of before commencing a real estate search. No other site is taking this approach and it could save tenants time and grief. I am attaching a very rough mock up of the new text (forgive the grammar, really needs to be edited!). Is there any thing wrong with this approach? I may have stumbled on a good idea, however maybe nobody has taken this route because it is inappropriate for a home page. I would very much appreciate any comments or guidance anyone may have. Best, Alan Rosinsky 0d76Iv2

Link anchor text: only useful for pages linked to directly or distributed across site?
As a SEO I understand that link anchor text for the focus keyword on the page linked to is very important, but I have a question which I can not find the answer to in any books or blogs, namely: does inbound anchor text 'carry over' to other pages in your site, like linkjuice? For instance, if I have a homepage focusing on keyword X and a subpage (with internal links to it) focusing on keyword Y. Does is then help to link to the homepage with keyword Y anchor texts? Will this keyword thematically 'flow through' the internal link structure and help the subpage's ranking? In a broader sense: will a diverse link anchor text profile to your homepage help all other pages in your domain rank thematically? Or is link anchor text just useful for the direct page that is linked to? All views and experiences are welcome! Kind regards, Joost van Vught

What should my optimal anchor text look like, given cannibalization risk?
We have a content page with the explicit goal of ranking highly for "raised garden beds". We drive traffic from this page to our various types of raised garden beds in our store. The "FarmsteadRaised Garden Bed" is one such product. http://eartheasy.com/grow_raised_beds.htm Should we avoid using "raised garden beds" in the anchor text of the internal links pointing to the products in our store because of cannibalization? We recently changed the anchor text of the internal links to have keywords instead of just "click here" or "more info" - was this a good idea? What should our optimal anchor text look like?
