How Google Shopping Relevance Determined?
-
After looking at Google Shopping results, I was wondering how the "Relevance" is determined. It would obviously be hugely beneficial to be ranked as one of the top 5 most relevant products, since that is the default sorting criteria.
Originally, I thought it was a combination of Price and Seller Rating. But after examining a few examples, that doesn't seem to be the case.
When doing a search for "Radian XTSL" - a car seat that our website features - JustKidsStore.com appears at/near the bottom of the Google Shopping list, despite having a competitive price and ranking well for that term organically (8-13).
Do you know what the ranking factors are? And if so, can you give a few pieces of advice for best practices?
Thanks!

Reviews, price and fresh data play a huge role.
This article is from 2009 but still very relevant IMHO.

Display Networks Less Expensive Than the Google Display Network/GDN
Hi Everyone, Are there any display networks that are notably less expensive than Google's Display Network? By this, I mean less than $0.01 U.S. CPC's for real people and not bots. On the Google network, I've tried the trick of opening a sister account with a cheaper currency, but in the end, I wasn't able to get much lower than $0.01 U.S. per click after converting back to U.S. dollars. Thanks, Andy

Affiliate URLs Indexed in Google
We have an active in-house affiliate program which has a create-a-link function where affiliate, as in most affiliate programs, can build links back to our content to produce sales. The problem that I am seeing is that some of the affiliate URL versions are being indexed in Google rather than the original page. For instance.. http://www.ourdomain.com/page_start.aspx?affnum=F025212&Start_Page=RaceCar&referrer=createlink is outranking... http://www.ourdomain.com/racecar This presents 2 issues for us. First, this presents duplicate content issues obviously. Second, we pay our affiliates a portion of the sales so, in order to maximize profitability, we'd like the indexed pages to be the original version. What's the best way to handle this? I want to make sure that affiliates continue to get credit for links from their sites but search engine links should go to the original versions.

How to rank in google local listings with multiple entities?
I actually have a portal with multiple listings from different users. Every listing is a physical shop with a different address, but more than the half of them doesn't have a website. I was thinking on creating a local business for them and then add a link to my website in the section where google asks for your web address. Does anyone already made something similar? does google allows links to inner pages and from multiple domains? Do you have any other and better idea on how to show in local results if you're like an affiliate and not the direct owner of the shop? With google local listings crowding the serps it should be interesting to know how to fit in there.

MicroSites built for unique theme for targeting customers with Build in Shopping Cart
I now that microsites have been frowned upon by may marketers as well like by many marketers. One of my ideas is say you have many different products on one website but sometimes it is a bit difficult to really find. We have built an shopping cart that allows our vendors to build a store and use the cart as their own but running off our servers. What if you take that and combine it with an affiliate marketing strategy but could control the content for each site. Let's say we build a site themed for Weddings and only had those products available in the cart for that theme and it catered information about the product for use for Weddings. Another example would be Baseball: We did the same concept with the shopping cart only having the baseball products on that site. We would provide the details that this is powered by the main company and is a sister site. Could this type of idea be beneficial to extend our products for people looking for the product via nitch vs just random? No link would go back to the main site as it would be it's own site. I am calling a microsite only because it is like one in combination of an affiliate site but without a tracking code link but a place where the customer can buy directly from without leaving the site.

My new site experienced a sudden drop in Google rankings
We launched a new affiliate site at the beginning of April this year dealing in reviews, vouchers and price comparison for a niche product. We had a pretty good start, with some of our target keywords ranking #8 #10 #7 but this week they have suddenly dropped off dramatically - like 36 or 42 places. We haven't made any changes to the site apart from publishing new content pieces, such as news posts and reviews - does anyone know why this would suddenly happen? Thanks
