I just want to add that the answer does depend a lot on the content. If it's just an issue of duplicate title and META tags, then any uniqueness does help. Generally, though, use the actual product names and information - you can easily generate the tags from the database for most data-driven sites.
If it's an issue of duplicate URLs for the same products, that's a different matter. In other words, make sure that your navigation (searches, sorts, paginations) isn't spinning out copies of your product pages. If it is, then you'll want to control those duplicates and canonicalize or de-index them. If you have 1000s of duplicate product titles and only 200 products, then you're creating duplicate product pages. If you have 1000 duplicate titles and 1000 product pages, then you just need to create unique tags.

Since the duplicacy is at the Product Level, you can perform both the below activites to remove duplicacy from title tags.
**1. Add Price to Title Tag **
eg. XYZ Product at $100
Since most of the products will have different prices you will greatly reduce duplicacy.
This also adds SEO value.
2. Add Product Code to Title Tag
But if your primary goal is to remove dupliacy, add the product code to the title tag.
This will remove 100% duplicacy as no 2 products can have the same code.
Also both the above solutions can be done using rules so they're easy to execute.
It's a good idea to create Landing pages for your targeted keywords but the most important is-
Content Quality
You need to have user generated and relevant content for all your static landing pages.
Plus you must update the content regularly. On a weekly or monthly basis.
Also you can link your primary landing pages from your homepage as it will transfer link juice to your pages.
Hope this helps.

Recovery from manual penalty, several sites sell same products
We are still struggling with the consequences of a manual penalty. Here the history we got a manual penalty in September 2013 on our main site kinderwagen.com for unnatural links we cleaned up our link profile and the penalty was lifted in February 2014 we did nothing in terms of link building until December 2014 from December 2014 we started to build natural links, we mostly gave away our products for reviews, that way we built first one content link per month now 2-3 content links per months we expanded our social acitivities on facebook and google plus we started a blog in the beginning of this year and rewrote our guide section For now the results of all this have been very modest. We are basically still stuck where we were after the penalty. In contrast our sites in other languages where we do similar activities perform quite well. There is one difference in Germany (where this kinderwagen.com is) we have other niche sites which partially sell the the same products. We made sure that every product is indexed only once, however it might still hurt the main site. Does anyone have experience in a similar situation or advice what we could do? Thanks in advance. Dieter

Duplicate content on product pages
Hi, We are considering the impact when you want to deliver content directly on the product pages. If the products were manufactured in a specific way and its the same process across 100 other products you might want to tell your readers about it. If you were to believe the product page was the best place to deliver this information for your readers then you could potentially be creating mass content duplication. Especially as the storytelling of the product could equate to 60% of the page content this could really flag as duplication. Our options would appear to be:1. Instead add the content as a link on each product page to one centralised URL and risk taking users away from the product page (not going to help with conversion rate or designers plans)2. Put the content behind some javascript which requires interaction hopefully deterring the search engine from crawling the content (doesn't fit the designers plans & users have to interact which is a big ask)3. Assign one product as a canonical and risk the other products not appearing in search for relevant searches4. Leave the copy as crawlable and risk being marked down or de-indexed for duplicated contentIts seems the search engines do not offer a way for us to serve this great content to our readers with out being at risk of going against guidelines or the search engines not being able to crawl it.How would you suggest a site should go about this for optimal results?

Is a different location in page title, h1 title, and meta description enough to avoid Duplicate Content concern?
I have a dynamic website which will have location-based internal pages that will have a <title>and <h1> title, and meta description tag that will include the subregion of a city. Each page also will have an 'info' section describing the generic product/service offered which will also include the name of the subregion. The 'specific product/service content will be dynamic but in some cases will be almost identical--ie subregion A may sometimes have the same specific content result as subregion B. Will the difference of just the location put in each of the above tags be enough for me to avoid a Duplicate Content concern?</p></title>

</a>Is robots.txt blocking important pages? Some important page is blocked by robots.txt. Now, this is the weird part - the page being blocked is the admin page of magento - under
www.domain.com/index.php/admin/etc..... Now, this message just wont go away - its been there for days now - so why does Google think this is an "important page"? It doesnt normally complain if you block other parts of the site ?? Any ideas? THanks0 -
Easy way to change wordpress category titles. Currently categories are appearing with the same title?!
I'm working on a wordpress adult dating review site and have started to set up categories for each of my main keywords. I have also started to add sub categories by county and town and so far have done so for the counties of 'Lincolnshire' and 'Derbyshire'. The problem is though that for each of my subcategories the page titles are appearing the same. For example: www.mysite.com/category/online-dating/lincolnshire/spalding (root category online dating) shows the title as 'Spalding'. www.mysite.com/category/adult-dating/lincolnshire/spalding also has the title 'Spalding' even though it's root category is different (adult dating). It's probably easier to go to http://www.top-10-dating-reviews.com to see how it's set up. If you click in the category text in the top menu and navigate to dating/derbyshire/alfreton for example and then adult dating/derbyshire/alfreton you'll notice the page titles are the same. I use all in one SEO pack and have rewrite titles checked with category titles set to %category_title% | %blog_title%. I also use category SEO updater. In order to prevent duplicate content issues how can I simply make the title of each category category root title/category subtitle(county)/category subtitle 2(town). The title of each category page would then read for example Online Dating Lincolnshire Spalding.

Should product searches (on site searches) be noindex?
We have a large new site that is suffering from a sitewide panda like penalty. The site has 200k pages indexed by Google. Lots of category and sub category page content and about 25% of the product pages have unique content hand written (vs the other pages using copied content). So it seems our site is labeled as thin. I'm wondering about using noindex paramaters for the internal site search. We have a canonical tag on search results pointing to domain.com/search/ (client thought that would help) but I'm wondering if we need to just no index all the product search results. Thoughts?

How do I fix the error duplicate page content and duplicate page title?
On my site www.millsheating.co.uk I have the error message as per the question title. The conflict is coming from these two pages which are effectively the same page: www.millsheating.co.uk www.millsheating.co.uk/index I have added a htaccess file to the root folder as I thought (hoped) it would fix the problem but I doesn't appear to have done so. this is the content of the htaccess file: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^millsheating.co.uk RewriteRule (.*) http://www.millsheating.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /index\.html\ HTTP/ RewriteRule ^index\.html$ http://www.millsheating.co.uk/ [R=301,L] AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
